idk all I'm saying is Avatar started production in 1994 and look at how successful that was.

No it didn't; James Cameron was up to his eyeballs in Titanic in 1994.

He wrote the treatment for Avatar then, yes.  Then he shelved it for a decade and put a lot of time into developing the technology to film it.   People who make films (and write books, and make games) for a living write oodles of treatments.  Some treatments never see the light of day, and some morph into unrecognisability before they see a skerrick of pre-production.  Production is when scripts are written, studios are committed to printing and releasing the film and actual filming happens.

He only started working on the screenplay in 2006, and the film came out in 2009.  That's three years. Here; have another wiki

Mind you, he had a distribution deal, which is more than Arad has.  Legendary is no longer with Warner Brothers; they are going to pitch the film to Universal sometime soon.  If Universal doesn't want to distribute it, back into development hell it goes.

I'm not going to argue with you over my opinion and what I've seen in James Cameron interviews this is not the place lmfao

I'm not comparing them, they are just both terrible.

Suit yourself; it's pretty clear you don't know what you are talking about.

Thank you!

On a 'dragon age movie' website it had said "In Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, fans will get to see Justinia V in all her divine glory." so that's what confused me.

Yeah no. DotS took place in 9:22 Dragon. About 12 years before Dorothea became Justinia V. Though consider how people describe Beatrix as really fragile, old and weak by the end of her time, she did look kinda young in DotS, which's only over a decade earlier.

Why?

Hmmm... let's see...

- Mages with lame firecracker spells and hitting people with sticks and scythes?

- Blood Magic indoctrinated golems? tens of them, with tens of Ogres too?

- Predictable corrupt Mother and Knight-Commander plot

That's all I could think of for now.

it's pretty clear you're still bitter after I offered to stop because arguing over a personal opinion is pointless lmfao

Yeah, I think that's another reason I didn't think it was her - I always picture her as decrepit.

A tv series set in the DA or ME universe would be awesome. Beyond awesome really. But yeah, I don't see them adapting these specific storylines b/c choosing a 'canon' (It wouldn't be canon, I know, but how hard do you think it'd be to convince a lot of people of this) would upset a lot of fans. So, I'd rather see something that could add to the games instead of redoing them. I mean, bring up Joss Whedon and the Avengers movie again, that is one of the best examples of a true team experience, but lots of those characters had whole movies to flesh out their characters first. Without that background, the emotional beats for each character were pretty sparse, so intro-ing an entire roster of companions and saving the world in a movie would be pretty much impossible.

Dawn of the Seeker was a fun movie! I'd definitely enjoy seeing more stories like that, origin stories for appropriate companions etc.

No, I'm arguing that you got your facts wrong.  Because you did.  And I even pointed you to the correct information.  Feel free to read it sometime, or not.

You have a perfect right to your opinion.  You do not have a right to your own facts.

And no, not bitter; just bemused that you are so good at missing the point.

no point in bothering to continue a conversation with someone I already dismissed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would love to see more of DotS made films, I think they bring a lot of potential to the franchise. I'd like one about each companion tbh but I know that won't ever happen lol.

Plus that Cassandra is a horrible character during the movie.

I'm hoping for some development in DA:I

It's far too irrelevant to be drama.

I bet you didn't like DotS.

I probably wouldn't if I ever saw it....

I'm not really big on supplemental works to franchises.   The Star Wars EU is the only notable exception.  In other franchises that I have read or watched supplemental lore it tends to be contradictory and lower quality in general.

I feel exactly the opposite

Of course, sometimes that happens with age. Ten years is a lot with an illness and Beatrix brief mention in Asunder made her seem a bit senile a few years before...
(however long ago Rhys' presentation to Beatrix was... it sounded post-Kirkwall but...)

I mean some of it is ok, but for every Thrawn Trilogy there is a Karen Traviss novel

lmfaooo I'm imagining a senile Divine and all I can picture is a Mage/Templar wa-- wait a second...

Seriously though, thank you for clearing that up for me because I saw so many different answers but the one place I never bothered to look was the wiki lol.

I'd rather have more Redemption-style miniseries. Little glimpses into the larger world of Thedas that have little to no connection with the plots of the games. It keeps the tie-in media from clashing with certain player choices. Those Who Speak couldn't happen in a lot of people's playthroughs. Alistair, Isabela, and Sten could all be indisposed, preventing that entire series from meshing with the player's canon.

I like side stories like DotS and the novels, but I don't understand making a movie about Dragon Age itself. Just play the game. Kind of missing the point to set the story in heavily defined terms.

Diseases take their toll on appearances. That and stress. Just look at any Before After pics with leaders of a nation.

Live action and magic particle effects... Hm, I'd rather animated all the way over live action and trying to cast magic spells that aren't there or being affected by magic spells that aren't there.

Maybe live action if there is little to no magic involved in the story, but otherwise the world might look a little cheesy. I still hate the look of magic effects in live action.

I think comparing any book to the Grand Admiral Thrawn trilogy is unfair. Those books were utter masterpieces.
