Spin off: yes. But adaptation: no.

Movie adaptations just never turn out right.

I liked Dawn of the Seeker... because it did not take any of the games and ruin it, but told a different story.

Meh. I would probably go and see a Dragon Age movie, if only because it's more likely than other franchises to include LGBT characters.

As far as content, I'd rather they did an original story within the setting, with original characters, rather than adapt a pre-existing plot

Really depends on who the producer is. If it's Michael Bay then he may ruin it like he's going to ruin my childhood with TMNT.

I'd like another story set in the DA universe, sure. Dawn of the Seeker was very enjoyable, imo, if somewhat exaggerated (all the dragon jumping!). I liked it a lot more than Paragon Lost, anyway. But Origins/DA2 the movie? No, I wouldn't like that at all. I'd probably just end up picking holes in every character who didn't sound/look like they did in the game, or when the film Warden makes decisions that my Warden didn't. I think I'd just end up getting annoyed, hah.

Are we talking about the same  ME movie?  Avi Arad is developing it?

Here's the wiki page.  It's on its second scriptwriter and its second studio and they have been working on it since 2010.  And they are now saying 2018/19.

I'd love to see it succeed, but it's got clusterfracas written all over it.

That date was a misinterpretation of Arad's quote. He said some movies take 5 to 6 years to complete and the writer of that article just took the current date and added those years to it, not realizing the movie had already been in pre-production for several years. Arad was also not talking about Mass Effect specifically, but film production in general.

Since a lot of themes from Dragon age is blatantly taken/inspired from Martin's universe ( The Devs themselves list a song of ice and fire as one of their inspirations) but adapted to such a lesser fantasy setting making a movie or TV series is kind if redundant and kind of impossible. Watch Game Of Thrones instead, extremely high quality television with the biggest cast in TV history and shot in 5 different countries.

Yeah, I'd love to see Origins as a movie. I've been babbling about this possibility since 2010 lol. I'd want James Cameron to direct it, though.

Give it to Peter Jackson. Elf-Warden will hopelessly fall in love with  Oghren and Bloom can play another ninja-elf as Zevran.

I hate live action movies or trailers that are based on games or comics.
They often look fake, and actors look like they are wearing some poor costumes.

What I want is a complete CGI movie that has a quality of CGI game trailers made from Blur Studio or Blizzard.
Lots of games from Bioware also had their cinematic trailers made by Blur Studio, and I love watching CGI trailers, often hoping someone would decide to make an hour-long movie with that quality of graphics.

When there was a rumor going around about hollywood making Mass Effect movie, I hoped they would rather make a complete CGI movie.

Not at all. I don't want to begrudge people wanting movies made out of their favorite games, but to me, it doesn't make any sense. Video games are different, but in many ways, a superior format. Film is very limited, generally to about 2 hours of content. Obviously there are many great films, but when I have to choose and compare a 2 hour film to a 50-100 hour interactive experience, its just not even a consideration. Movies seem so shallow and simple when compared to the vastness of games. I can't imagine what kind of story would be told in a Dragon Age movie. I'm sure it could be done, but I doubt I would care much. It seems like game-movies are always some bastardized version of the game story/content I've already played, and the film will never be capable of matching the entertainment value of the game.

Never, and I hate the idea of a Mass Effect movie too.

These two titles(Dragon age, Mass Effect) do not need movie adaptations. How could the developers/producers/directors ever do them justice? They cannot.

I'd argue that both are movies unto themselves. They do not need to move to the 'big screen' to fufill some sort of twisted, pop cultural make believe legitimacy.

Make more of the games, do not bastardize them into movies.

There's a reason that it works well for the comics and not so well for most video games. And now they want to incorporate RPGS into the mix?

It wouldn't end well.

At best it will be a quick cash grab that will only serve to ****** off loyal fans.

Most game movies are terrible. There are lots of reasons for that, but often game stories just don't weather the adaptation well.

I wouldn't say no to an original story set in the Dragon age universe, though I would prefer CGI to live action, as long as the story is well crafted and the avoid the over-the-top anime quality that made Dawn of the Seeker feel out of place.

No. Video games have too much stuff to be a movie. It'd make a better tv series like GoT than movies like The Hobbit/LOTR.

Same reason I don't want a Mass Effect movie. Way too much stuff for ~120 minutes, even if broken up into like 3-5 parts or whatever. But hey, we need a new Battlestar Galactica type show these days. So make a multi-season TV show.

I like Dawn of the Seeker.

And I would like to see Dragon Age movies about the previous Blights or the Exalted Marches... Nothing new, because new things we should be playing, not watching. It's a video game franchise after all.

Wouldn't be surprised if Uwe Boll directs it.

If they are gonna tell the same stories of the games, then no, i think they would work better as TV series, not a movie. Both DA and ME

If they are gonna tell us some new story, like let's say, the First Blight or the First Contact War, then ok, a movie could work.

Ok only will say this about a Dragon Age or Mass Effect Movie
I hope they will never see the light of day, reason....: when was the last Time there was either a good movie based on a game or a good game based on a movie

Hollywood has a terrible track record when it comes to these things and I see no reason why this time it will be different
We all heard that hundreds of times before
So, Dragon Age or Mass Effect movie..... No thanks it probably get messed up anyway like so many before

Exactly my idea, Dragon age and Mass Effect are much better off without a movie that probably is not doing the game justice
They are best to be left alone by the quick cash grab mentality of Hollywood as that is all that it is to the Hollywood bobo's
They want a piece of the cake and they don't care if the mess up an other great franchise
And apart from that they have a very bad track record when it comes down to these things

Video game film adaptations rarely, if ever, go over well. I'm obligated to reject this idea.

The thing with video game movies is that they never do the game any justice and its no surprise why many of them are bad, (I enjoyed "Halo: Forward unto dawn" but that was a 5-part web series).

Here are a couple of articles on video game movies.
