When the expansion was cancelled, I'm sure it was not the writers who decided to do that. Someone made that decision and others had to do the best they can. Was it because of people complaining like you say or did they think it would be too expensive and not worth it?

I've never played any of the DLC's for DA2 (I probably would have if they had ever released "ultimate" edition of DA2 for PC) and... you know. Hawke isn't a character that interests me anyway. I think it had been great if Merrill had been there (she's my favorite companion in DA2) but ultimately I'm happy it's Inquisitor who discovered the Well of Sorrows and not Hawke. Simply because of how great it was for my dalish elf to be able to recover such an precious part of the elven knowledge! That's one of my favorite things in the game. What I didn't like was how there was some mistakes in that scene like the dalish Inquisitor not knowing about Mythal, etc. Other than that I think it was fantastic.

The writers didn't want to do it. Gaider was sad... even after DAI was released, he was still sad and didn't want to get into it.

It was just demand.. too many people hated DA2, and EA moved forward towards DAI.

Gamlen telling me I don’t have to sweet talk him. Maybe an odd moment, but that was exactly what I was going for, buttering him up, hopefully creating a better relationship with him. It felt like he was on to me x)

Isabela running off with the book and returning. I felt screwed over, then elated when she returned.

Aveline’s awkward romance
It actually made me more prone to use the charming/sarcastic options and I loved that at the end I could choose to tell Aveline that Hawke was the one for her. I also really enjoyed companion comments, especially of Anders, because he usually only makes comments about mage/Templar situations.

Putting (templar) Carver in his place
I was more or less neutral with Carver. At the start I understood that he was still a teenager and always living in the shadow of others can make you bitter. But I started to lose my patience when nothing Hawke could say would ever be good in his eyes. And everything Hawke did would always been seen as being “again overshadowed”. He even thought it was a good idea to have a go at Hawke when the Arishok had hostages. And at the very end, he asked Hawke if he would fight his own brother and Hawke said to him that he had been itching for a fight for the longest time. I enjoyed that for once Carver did not give some snide aggro answer, but looked taken aback by that.

Duke Prosper and the cliff. Who did not enjoy that?

Fenris and his hunker down speech towards a diplomatic Hawke
Diplomatic Hawke more or less puts him in his place about how that has worked out for him and he has no response to that.

The Chantry blowing up.
I was watching in mild shock which turned into full-blown “omg” when I saw how it looked like from the outside. I felt horrified yet impressed. And betrayed =/ Still an amazing moment. I just didn't expect an already dramatic moment I thought I was defusing between Meredith and Orsino getting stacked with other problems.
