Yeah, I agree with that. Circle mage Bethany seems like a story that suits her a great deal more than joining the Grey Wardens, which is an outcome I reserve strictly for Carver.

I've done that a few times, but my favorite way to play mage Hawke is to go Diplomatic, get Carver killed in the Deep Roads, and rivalmance Isabela. Near the end of Act 2, when Isabela lights out with the Tome of Koslun, literally everybody that Hawke loves is either dead or gone...and since she's all nice and responsible and saintly and all that stuff, she makes herself responsible for all of that death and betrayal. (Which, in a manner of speaking, isn't totally wrong.)

So she goes all the way down. Maximum bad.

My aggressive blood mage Hawke has him die in the Deep Roads, but then that's my maximum-casualty playthrough where I get as many people killed as possible or simply leave Hawke.

The brawl in The Hanged Man

Talking to the Arishok at the end of Act 2, regardless of the decisions I made this scene is epic from dueling the Arishok to Isabella coming back to fighting the horde or Qunari.

Fighting the High dragon.

Anders destroying the Chantry.

Cassandra's reaction to Varric telling her about Hawke beating the Arishok in single combat. Say what you will about the framed narrative, but I enjoyed some of their little moments while he told her the story.

It makes me wonder, though, about Bethany after The Last Straw. I'd always assumed she'd follow Hawke on the run and go apostate, but lately I've been thinking about it and am not so sure anymore. If the Circle was restored and working as it's supposed to, I could see Bethany going back, by choice. The lifestyle just seems to suit her, I think, what with mentoring the apprentices. She's no Isabela. She's a virgin, and seemingly not interested in any kinds of "nefarious" activities. Yes, I know that in the pro-mage ending, she says something to the effect of realizing the need to free her fellow mages. She may simply mean freeing them from the Meredith's iron-fist rule, though, not the Circle itself.

What say you? eusa_think.gif

I could see her becoming a Senior Enchanter type too (if she isn't already.. I know she moved up the ranks quickly and already teaches).

Gaider has entertained the idea of a comic with her traveling with Nathaniel Howe or Sebastian (or both?). Which I can also see.

I'd prefer she traveled with Nathaniel than Sebastian. It was good to see him show up in DA2.

Making a deal with the stone demon in the Deep Roads Expedition.

Finally having him confront us at the treasure pile.

Hawke to Varric: "You mind?"

Varric: "Bianca says 'The treasure is ours." *boom*

Carver: "That's how we did it back in Ferelden!"

5: Tallis' entrance.

She basically fights her way through a half dozen Antivan Crows, looking badass while doing so.  I immediately liked her because of that, and that doesn't happen often.

4: Cheering up Bethany.

Personally, I think Bethany is the most normal character in DA2.  The conversation where she talks about how she feels about their current situation and how it is affecting Leandra gets her down, but you can pick the humorous dialogue option and make her laugh.  Perfectly captures that younger sister, older brother/sister relationship.

3: Varric shooting the hunger demon in the face.

Varric is just so great in this scene, not to mention the fact that you get to take the treasure with you.

2: Anders blowing up the Chantry.

Now, I know I might sound like an ass, but I actually cheered when the Chantry exploded in my first playthrough.  I mean, yeah, it might have been going a bit too far, but I thought it was pretty cool either way.

1: Bethany and Hawke's last words (mage ending).

Bethany is my favorite character overall in DA2 and her last words with Hawke was just icing on the cake.  It adds just the right amount of bittersweetness and closure to allow me to feel like I'm actually accomplishing something when I'm fighting the Templars to protect the mages.

Except your final statement is wrong. Grace, like Uldred, was an abomination of pride (and both of their respective 'Circles saw the RoA invoked).

It isn't wrong because the RoA wasn't invoked for Idunna.

Now, perhaps what the RoA actually requires is a Pride Abomination -- that wouldn't lead to a contradiction.

But you can't claim

"knowledge of blood magic and demon influence is grounds for the Right of Annulment."

if the RoA is not used when there is clearly someone at the Circle with knowledge of blood magic and demon influence.

I made the deal for the first time my last playthrough. Varric's response is just so much awesome! I might have to do it again just for that.

The Legacy-dlc as a whole, especially this:

Fenris dumping you after night together is always touching. Sebastian! Especially when he rages to Anders after Anders has done his trick (again, one of my favorites).

Favourite moment for me is a weird one really. First time you talk to Grand Cleric Elthina and you can ask for her blessing, she has this long awesome prayer and Hawke responds "So let it be" I loved that. Because in Origins some of the Mothers would say the same, but i could never respond. Devout Andrastian here!

I laughed at this little quip by Fenris when I brought a romanced Anders along in Legacy:

emmm... Arishok and the head of the Viscount. Also the speech of Arishok, and when you give Isabela to Qunari.

Aggressive Hawke personally informing the Arishok of the delegates fate after she helped Darnell and Patrice kill them.  Then further assisting Patrice later in the game.  Too bad this is restricted to only an aggressive Hawke though.

Fenris persuading the mage slaver to tell them where Feynriel was.

Someone writing Meredith is a looney on the table in the Hawke estate.

Justice's intense dislike of sarcastic Hawke romancing Anders. I was pretty surprised when he made an appearance during Anders visit at the Hawke estate and warned Hawke off.

Two situations in Finders Keepers come to mind.

1. When aggressive Hawke gets the location of Martin's cargo; especially the part of pulling a knife on the dockworker trying to extort money for the location.

2. Witty Hawke trying to get the guards away from the warehouse by saying there's a fire only to be busted by Merrill.

3. Aggressive Hawke's method of dealing with Sabin in Inside Job.

4. Rogue Hawke's method of freeing Feynriel from the slavers in Wayward Son.

5. One of the saddest moments is Hawke hearing her father's voice in Legacy and wishing her family was there to hear it. But they are all dead except her.

The hell...? It's like the game somehow doesn't want you to romance Anders. The guy's like a land mine lol.

I think they intended him as the troublesome person he is, and tried to give you as many "outs" as possible. Same with Fenris. Probably Fenris more, because he can leave completely.. but both keep doing things to encourage people to push them away.

One thing I didn't like about Anders was how he kept on pushing Hawke away, but would get p!ssy/jealous when Hawke rejected him, dumped him, or dated someone else.  He's a very confused individual.

Speak of which...

...I laughed at the ending
