...I laughed at the ending

Yeah, that breakup is hilarious. And very realistic. I can identify, even if I'm a male.

Then again, maybe I'm just a lousy romantic.

What's sad is that particular scene gives the perfect motivation for Anders' lying to you about his "potion" in Act 3.

That post-love scene is also a crazy landmine. When he asked to move in, my Hawke said she wasn't quite ready for that yet. After all, they had only slept together ONCE, and it almost felt like Anders slept with her for the sole purpose of moving into Hawke's significantly more awesome pad.

So my Hawke decides she wants to develop the relationship more before moving in together, which Anders takes as a breakup. My Hawke and I looked at each other in shock and said, "WHAT?" I had to revert to a previous save and let the troll move in just to finish the stupid romance.

Hawke's reasons for breaking up with Anders are pretty reasonable post-romance scene, too.

A) He's too serious about the relationship.  Saying "I love you" after one night of sex can put off a lot of people, which leads to

B ) He's moving too fast.  Like you mentioned, living together is a pretty big step.

There's a worse version of the break up, though, where Hawke's reason is a bit harsh (and made me LOL).

In a way, I can kind of pity him. He's kind of like an immature teenager and has only lived in the Circle his whole life. Or on the run, probably without any stable friends. Maybe that's why he rushes into the whole "love" thing.

I don't think saying "I love you" is weird after having sex with someone (unless you do it only for fun). But yeah, asking to move with you is way too abrupt. Same with Merrill. You either tell her to live with you or ****** off. No middle ground here?

True.  To be fair both Merrill and Alistair (if his love scene takes place after meeting Goldanna) also confess their love after the first sex scene.  They were pretty sheltered and in their first romance.

Anders is the epitome of clingy, but I can see why with all he's going through.

Heh, maybe breaking up with him can be a valuable learning experience, though I suspect Justice is not particular fond of hard lessons.

I've done that a few times, but my favorite way to play mage Hawke is to go Diplomatic, get Carver killed in the Deep Roads, and rivalmance Isabela. Near the end of Act 2, when Isabela lights out with the Tome of Koslun, literally everybody that Hawke loves is either dead or gone...and since she's all nice and responsible and saintly and all that stuff, she makes herself responsible for all of that death and betrayal. (Which, in a manner of speaking, isn't totally wrong.)

So she goes all the way down. Maximum bad.

Similar to my warrioress Hawke, except Bethany becomes a Grey Warden, leading to her hating Hawke until the end of the game where they reconcile. This makes Hawke's decision very easy, since she doesn't give a **** about mages and templars other than how it affects her last living family.

Killing Fenris, Anders, Merrill, & laughing at the death of Hawkes mother die was enjoyable. Also watching carver fail at life. I'd like to pretend DA2 was all just a dream of our Grey Warden in Origins an that Hawke's family died in lothering. Maybe DA2 is Hawkes hell. RIP DAO Anders.

Awakening Anders is kind of a git the more I revisit this character. Only reasons he doesn't get sent off with the Rylock for me is because the Templars do not get to tell the Warden-Commander what to do, and as far as I can tell, his only crime is running from the Circle. Even if he did kill a Templar, I didn't witness it, and I'd consider his conscription far more important than their desire for justice.

No, he vows that he won't forget being "used". He doesn't learn anything.

In fact, breaking up with him meshes very well with his behavior in Act 3. It gives him further motivation to "use" Hawke to make the bomb. Of course, that happens regardless.. but in this case, it looks partly like revenge.

It's easier to just say you don't like the game. Instead of coming into a thread called "Favorite moments".

I kind of like how he just comes out of nowhere if he's been out of your group for a good portion of the game after booting him out as a result of his Dissent quest. It's like crazy abandonment issues finally got the better of him.

That works too. I guess I should say they did a good job of making his behavior flow well under different circumstances.

I don't dislike it. It's...it's...doing its own thing...you know. I do however love the combat being fast paced and different animations.

Fair enough. I misinterpreted.

Yeah, I like the combat too. I'm curious what they're going to do in DAI. It's supposedly going to take a lot more prep to win battles.

I'd agree with that.  Kirkwall, what a horrible place to live

It's definitely a hell for Hawke.. but as an overall story, it appeals to me. In one sense, I want the best for Hawke, and wish I could end the hell, but I'm relieved it's not the typical "hero's journey" type of tale that other Bioware games can be. I like that they did something different here.

At least Hawke got lucky there a few times, and can potentially run off with quite a lot of money ;)

Still can't top the Warden's funding though. After Awakening s/he can end up with enough sovereigns to buy a fleet to raid Orlais then cross the streams and take Westeros.

If I were Hawke, I'd probably want to leave Kirkwall right after a serial killer mutilated my mother's body...  At least how I roleplayed it, Leandra was the only thing really keeping Hawke there.  Though, if Bethany is in the Circle then I can roleplay staying around for her.

Yeah for my own Hawke's story, Kirkwall was the last place she wanted to be. With Bethany in the Circle and opposing the Templars, they can simply leave that crappy burg and ship off somewhere else. Since the Circles are pretty much in disarray, it probably wouldn't have done Bethany any good to stick around anyhow.

Wait, people actually killed Anders?! What? I was like, go Anders! Let's go topple the Chantry, down with the divine! Freedom for mages, kill the tempars! Naow! Revolution! Kill 'em!

- You people are weird. Or maybe it's me, who is weird. Who knows.

Old topic, meh. But since I've been replaying DA2 after Inquisition...

- Being an ass to Fenris (he seems to like it better than when you try to be his friend), making him mad in general.
- Witty Hawke distracting guards during Mark of the Assassin

- Hawke convincing Anders not to blow up the Chantry during rivalmance, only to have Justice take over him and get really, really angry (sad, but cool and powerful scene)
- Anders summoning shadows during Legacy

- The release of Flemeth
