Should have specified.  While I like that Aveline is the one who shows up on an unromanced Hawke to comfort her in her room, I meant the followup conversation Aveline and Hawke have after Leandra's death in Aveline's office, where they drink to the memory of their parents.  It speaks to the loss in all of us of someone close and always brings me to tears.  Making me tear up as I type this, dammit Bioware.

DA2 may have some flaws, but I still enjoyed Bioware's writing immensely on the game.  They had some really good moments.

I hear you.

I'm just gonna outright say the game is awesome. What flaws it has (maps) are the kind I seemingly overlook. DAI has better maps galore, and I still get annoyed just thinking about it. I'm not affected by size or the amount of "shiny", I guess. And instead of say, Blood Magic, being handwavey in DA2's storyline.. I feel that way about core things in DAI.

Yeah the game is really good there's not really anyway around that...

Actually er well maybe the problem is saying the "game" is really good. It's a really interesting "thing" but it's different from necessarily just being a video game since it doesn't emphasize that so much.... and I guess.. ummm... well whatever I don't know.

This is difficult because there's so much that I love. But there are moments that give me shivers every time, so... top five favorite moments, in no particular order.

When the Arishok starts to lose his cool for the first time. He's kept such a tight lid on his rage for years and then, "Fixing your mess is not a demand of the Qun, and you should all be grateful!" I think Hawke needed new smallclothes after that. Or maybe that was me.

Merrill kicking me out of her house and calling me a shemlen on one of my first playthroughs. OUCH. She's focused on unlocking the secrets of the Eluvian, and Hawke was more concerned that it seemed like an evil mirror that ate people. Still a totally gut-wrenching scene from either point of view. I haven't had the guts to repeat it.

Isabela swaggering back in with the Tome of Koslun... and then finding out that that's not really going to save the day after all. But the fact that she came back despite her instincts, and knowing that there was a very real possibility the Qunari wouldn't be satisfied with just getting their relic back... looove it.

Fenris's post-Hadriana rivalry scene. "You and I don't always see eye-to-eye... but that doesn't mean you deserved my anger. I owe you an apology." And the ensuing conversation (and wall-slam if you're in a romance with him). All that pent up passion and frustration finally comes to a head.

And of course, the Chantry explosion. Hawke's wide-eyed "Anders, what have you done?" and the resulting explanation ("I removed the chance for compromise...") gives me chills. It's probably better because on my first playthrough I allowed Hawke to be emotionally blackmailed (and called Anders out on it), so the horror of knowing that Hawke was partly responsible and had been used by someone he'd thought of as a friend to kill innocent people was... oooh. Gets me every time.

Just finished my second pro-mage playthrough and the pathos of that scene... all the feels.  And I've never even completed his romance.

Also, I can now add pretty much every single Fenris-centric cutscene to my list of favorite moments - because I'm a confirmed Fenrismancer and ALL THE FEELS.

This is great even with friend!Fenris.  And a romanced Fenris will leave, but come back, if you don't grab him.  (I personally prefer that to the wall-slam, at least for a friendmance, because that feels like it's more his choice.)

Oooh, is that the bit where he comes back and says, "I have been thinking of you. In fact, I've been able to think of little else..."? I loved that, too!

I like killing Anders; I don't trust adominations (though I do Wynne though... Maybes it becuase she didn't trick me into blowing up a Chantry?) And btw, I finished his romance too. I HATE HOW I ALWAYS END UP IN FRIENDSHIP WITH ANDERS, I JUST HATE NOT BEING SNARKY HAWKE ANYWHEREEEEEE!

I love Fenris's rivalmance - I've done it. Oh man; I do like it. My Female Mage Hawke was pleased with herself that she choice him over Anders...

I don't trust abominations either, but Anders doesn't go full-on abomination until mid-act 2.

I find Mother's death to be emotionally heart-rending.

Whether diplomatic, sarcastic, or aggressive, Hawke will ALWAYS look out for his mother.  So cradling her in his arms, the fact that she's beyond help from death, but gets to see her son one last time left me in tears.

Then talking with Aveline, where she says "My choice" regarding her and her father when they'd read stories or about Hawke dealing with the loss of his mother.

What I like most about DA2 is the "personal" feel of it.  It's not you and your ragtag bunch of misfits out to save the world, it's you and your family first trying to make it out of Lothering, then making sure your family is taken care of, then trying to keep the peace in a city clamoring for war.

Origins was about stopping the evil horde, and Inquisition is about stopping something even worse, but Dragon Age 2 plays out on a much smaller, more pivotal stage.  It goes into the aftermath of the Fifth Blight from Origins, and explains how the villains (both people and "things" like Red Lyrium and such) got to be who/what they are in Inquisition.

In a way, Origins is the "warrior", all big and bold, epic battles and glory.

DA2 is the "rogue", dark and quiet, waiting for just the right moment.

Inquisition is the "mage", deep and insightful, full of forces you can't understand.

Yeah... I know. I'm just mad at Bioware for ruining Anders. He was grand in DAA :( Until Justice came along and ruined him. I'd rather Velanna be possessed by Justice then Anders to be honest. I hate her enough, I just was sad to hate on Anders.

Hawke (my Hawke) not an executioner. If he does, just for avoid the war. Not the „better good”, only for lesser bad.

My Hawke doesn't really bother with Anders; he doesn't care remotely.

The people do not like executing their acquaintances generally, even if they are annoyed ;), i think, but this only my opinion.

(Oh my! how many people would have disappeared from among my acquaintances if this would be easy like this... ;) )

Not annoyed. More like "YOU USED ME TO BLOW UP A BOMD? DAMN, THATS DEEP MAN! YOUVE GOTTA DIE!" Well; he wasn't my friend. Or lover. I've killed Anders while I was doing my romance with him, too. But my Canon Hawke is an Isabela Romance (cause Isabela is glorious! Rivalmancery I did.)

I hate that they did that. I loved Anders non abomantion. My Amell would so kill him on sight if she got wif he was around. She's anti blood Mage, abomantion and everything else that is a problmantic towards innocents people. Heck; yeah she'd kill him herself. And my Quiz would approve of it. My Hawke? Not so much. He's dead, so he doesn't get a say in it.

Anders anti-blood mage too, this is one, in what they agree with Fenris example.

But i told you: my Hawkes executed him (except one Hawke).

And Sebastian is an vengeance-abomination too, whithout possessing. Just Sebastian has somewhat more potential power, than poor Anders. Too bad, how it is not possible to challenge him to a duel... this would be one of my favourite moment ;)

My Amell is more like 'Anti Abomination/blood Mage/any other bad magic out there' type girl. She's romaced to Alistair; cause I couldn't help myself. She'd kill Anders in mine becuase on my Keep I have two slots where he's still alive (I wonder if it'll play off and I'll be able to kill him a second time....) And I did for my Canon Hawke (I killed him; left him alive accidentally on the keep. Was unwilling to restart the game over that and was also unwilling to do it for my Female Amell one too).

Ooooohhhhhhhh, well my mistake.

5. Trying to remain undetected in Chateau Haine.

4. Handing Fenris over to Danirius.

3. Making fun with Viscount about his dead son.

2. Siding with Sister Petrice in Act 2.

1. Handing Isabela over to the Qunari.

You're a monster!  :o

Sebastian much more dangerous at Anders. He have a potencial political power AND strong vengefulness. Anders and his spirit-mate … is nowhere compared to this...

Just finished a DA2 game and brought Anders with me to Bartrand's house in Act 2. I actually felt sorry for the little turd after he regained his senses.

Also, many of those mentioned above, especially re: Fenris.
