Are Beardy and IB 100% confirmed? This makes me a bit sad.

Iron Bull has been confirmed by magazines but one that was full of errors.

Outside of a gameplay video and some art nothing for Feathers.

But the Grey Warden and Iron Bull have not been officially confirmed so there is still a pretty decent chance Cullen will be a companion

I'm not sure, but wasn't Jowan supposed to be a companion too? I'm just saying, things often change.

I want to like this, but I'm out. So, I'm liking this in spirit.

Even though I know I will romance Cullen at least once (I like to do a playthrough for all the romances at least once), I still care more about whether he is a companion or not.  Though, I suppose since he is a romance, he will play a large role regardless.  I like Cullen and want him as a companion, though I can settle for an important NPC.

Right now, with the class distribution issue, I'm leaning more towards Cullen being an NPC than a companion.

I think it was... Jennifer Hepler?  She left Bioware, but talented people discovered that she says she wrote one "one major follower and romance character" for DA:I before she left.

So, with classes being evenly distributed, it looks like we could have Cullen as a companion if Iron Bull's a rogue and there's no Cole, or Iron Bull's a warrior and there's no Blackbeard. Something like this, I guess:

 

Warriors: Cassandra, Iron Bull, CULLEN - no Blackbeard

Rogues: Varric, Sera, Cole

Mages: Vivienne, Solas, DHMG

 

or

 

Warriors: Cassandra, Blackbeard, CULLEN

Rogues: Varric, Sera, Iron Bull - no Cole

Mages: Vivienne, Solas, DHMG

 

If there are folk out there who want Cole AND Blackbeard AND Iron Bull as companions, there's no way to include all three without relegating Cullen to the role of NPC.

 

Eh, either way, someone's not gonna be happy. It seems time will tell who this someone ends up being.

I was thinking more about this at work today and im trying not to get my hopes up but I really want Cullen as a companion (not in a romance type of way at all) but he was there at the end of DA2 when the crap hit the fan and got the ball rolling in the mage rebellion and he let Hawke and crew go. He probably knew things about what was really going on with the templars, stuff that Hawke didnt know, i think he could be very important just with information and experience. I know that there are weird things going on with the wardens but I think with the story that we know of so far for DAI I think Cullen would make more sense.

 

Also just because there is concept art doesnt mean they are a companion, the bearded warden could be someone that helps you for a while or maybe has info on our wardens. who knows though. XD
