I only hope npc romances if we have 6 LIs, otherwise, nope, I don't want them. I want my Li to follow me everywhere I could be, everywhere I sleep in the countryside. That's not funny to imagine that she will be probably far away from me most of time. This time we don't have vessels or the Normandy for fast travel. Anyways M3 showed me that we have less screentime with Npcs, less banters in comparison ( particularly banters that are linked to a particular mission where It would be good to hear their point of view ) , and I doubt it's possible to change that.

So basically, yes if we have 6 LIs, no, if only 4, (meaning only two girls, which is what interests me obviously. )

Sera has more evidence in her favor than Cullen, though.

I wonder if he'll be a dlc only companion.

They explicitly said they wouldn't do that in DA:I because they were sick of the backlash.

1. It's confirmed that there will be no companion DLC

2. Sera is confirmed in a magazine alongside with Ironbull. We also see her and the bearded bear in the gameplay demo.

Did we ever find out how that happened? I can't imagine the Chantry legally sanctifying that marriage, if Wesley was meant to be chaste...

In Aveline's short story it is stated that Wesley was already a templar when they met.

Then again, it was OXM's report that said that and they've been wrong on other things in that very article.

I thought a dev also tweeted about it, though?

He could have simply been affirmed like Leliana.

I'm almost positive Mike Laidlaw said that directly in a post or tweet.

If so, I missed that. Which is quite possible.

Regardless, I see at best DLC companions being only in that DLC, like Tallis in MotA.

I like Sera a lot, but frankly the amount of evidence to support Cullen coming in is overwhelming.  His voice actor coming in to record dialogue speaks strongly of this, whereas Sera fans only recently had it confirmed as to who wrote her.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing.  In time, I'm sure WoG will come in and straighten things out.  We just gotta be patient.  :P

He's pretty much definitely in the game, but there's less evidence that he's a companion. We've seen Sera in party footage. Also, devs don't generally post in her threads making vague comments about how we shouldn't assume she's a companion, which speaks in her favor more than Cullen's, to me.

On the other page I posted a link to some commentary Gaider made about templars and chastity. They don't take a vow of chastity at all and some marriages are approved when the partner has their own means of income. Aveline makes sense in that context, since she was a soldier, herself.

Well, David Gaider did behave the same way when it was revealed on the forums years ago, and one month before the release of DAII, thanks to the demo, that the LIs would be all playersexual in DAII. And it was totally true. And it was the same behavior for many things that happened to be true. So, for me, that doesn't mean much.

That they're being vague about Cullen doesn't necessarily mean he isn't a companion. That they aren't doing it about Sera just seems more evident, to me, that she probably is a companion.

Oh, I definitely agree about Sera. I'm just saying that David Gaider playing the cautious card doesn't mean much. He always does that regardless of the info being true or not.

While this does get my hopes - like waaay up, super high up, "it's a bird, it's a plane, it's a CULLEN ROMANCE" high up - but I'm still taking it wth a grain of salt, as we have Cassandra, the Warden dude and Iron Bull for fighters, and I'm hoping for a 3-3-3 class distribution among companions. He could be like that girl in ME, who was your assistant and you could bang her on the side. Still, my Inquisitor and I would very much appreciate even that.

Huh.  Looking at the tweet, I get why a lot of people are still unsure.  The asker asks if there is a romance and companionship.  Doesn't specify with whom and Ellis later said he didn't know what a companion was.  So he could easily be an NPC romance or (Maker forbid) in a relationship with another NPC.

I'm feeling the strongest evidence is actually the 20 hours dialgoue.  That's a lot and I reckon Cullen fans should be happy regardless since that implies a major role even if not a companion.  The only real evidence against is the early announcement earlier, which DG mentioned wasn't done for companions.  It could be that Jennifer Hepler all of him before she left, so his dialogue was finished and they started recording early.

A few mistakes don't invalidate everything about that article.

Since there's no possible way to misinterpet "we won't be doing Day One DLC companions this time", I see no reason to doubt that the article was correct.

I've noticed that, but he's been noncommittal about too many "semi-confirmed" characters now for it not to be good advice about some. The numbers game is going to prove him right somewhere. lol

I'm just saying that, at this point, Sera seems to have a bit more evidence as a companion than Cullen, specifically because a previous poster listed Cullen as a sure-bet and said they didn't think Sera was in. There are good arguments for Cullen being in, too, just not quite enough for me to be as certain as with Sera.
