Last night I was watching the latest episode of "The Following". For those who do not know what the series is about, here is a copy and paste of the overview of the series on wiki:

The Following's first season centers on former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and his attempts to re-capture serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) following the latter's escape from prison. Hardy soon discovers that Carroll has surrounded himself with a group of like-minded individuals, whom he met while teaching and while in prison, and turned them into a cult of fanatical killers, including his right-hand, Emma Hill (Valorie Curry). When Carroll's son Joey Matthews (Kyle Catlett) is abducted by his father's followers, Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore), Debra Parker (Annie Parisse) and the rest of the FBI discover that it is the first step in a wider plan for Carroll to escape custody, humiliate Hardy, and be reunited with his ex-wife Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea).

The second season centers on a new cult, led by Lily Gray (Connie Nielsen) and her sons Mark and Luke (Sam Underwood), as they begin to develop and make public statements to lure Carroll out of hiding while the rest of the world believes him to be dead. Weston is re-recruited by Special Agent Mendez (Valerie Cruz) and the FBI in order to find the new cult; however, Hardy and his niece Max Hardy (Jessica Stroup) have plans of their own to track them down and find Carroll, provided he is in fact alive.

The latest episode that was on last night was called "Betrayal" and the summary can be found here: http://en.wikipedia....(The_Following)

The "frat house" that is visited in the episode, has some of the students playing a certain video game on the tv. That video game? Mass Effect 3. The game is still on when Ryan and Mike enter the house after everyone has been taken hostage, and aside from the screen that you can partially see showing the back of Shepards armor, you can also hear the all to familiar shriek of a banshee in the background.

Was pretty cool seeing Mass Effect 3 in a show that I watch. Just thought I'd point it out :P.

Could you tell what part of the game it was?

I would assume it would have to be one of the later levels (Thessia, the Ardat-Yakshi monastery, or Priority: Earth) or the Leviathan DLC, if there were banshees.

No clue. It didn't show much. I only saw a bit of the tv in the scene.

I'm pretty sure it was Thessia, it didn't take me long to recognize it.

I love this show. Ryan, Joe, the others, you care about the villains too.

BTW does this count as one degree of Kevin Bacon for Shepard?

It is starting to annoy me with some of it's shennanigans in season 2. But can't stop watching now that I have started it. No idea what you mean "one degree of actors name for Shepard".

Now that I think about it. Perhaps it was a bad idea to post this...for all I know EA might just take this opportunity to be what we all know them as, and go out and try to sue the makers of this show for using ME3 in an episode of their show >_>.

Sounds like they have permission.  Also, there may even be some sort of rule that stuff like this can be in the background...as a prop.  And, at the same time, EA would be smart not to make a fuss.  Hollywood could make life miserable for them by finding a company that will elt them use their games and then they could actually promote them a bit.  Anyone remember that in the movie ET a long time ago, they wanted to use M&M's but the company wouldn't let them, so they used Reeses Pieces and after the movie came out their sales went through the roof.  That was a bad decision by the Mars candy company not to allow the use of their M&M's.

Haha I just watched this episode of 'The Following' on Netflix now that Season 2 is on the streaming service (U.S) ... pretty cool hearing the banshee shriek in the background.

I think it is kind of cool that it's Thessia. That means they used a save from someone who actually played through a good chunk of the game, if not completed it. If it was Mars or the initial attack on Earth, I'd just think they bought a random game to use for the scene but that hadn't been played by someone on the staff.
