DA2 was rushed out, but I like it a lot in spite of its shortcomings. DA: Inquisition looks to be incredible, and I'll probably be buying a PS4 just to play it.

As for ME4, I'd prefer they do absolutely no imported saves, barely any mention of Shepard and the Reapers (just enough so you know it's a sequel), and a small character-focused story like ME2.

Even that is next to impossible without a host of streamlining retcons though.

Are the Krogan extinct? The Hanar? The Rachni? The Quarians? The Geth? How about the Reapers? Did everyone get cybernetics up the ass one fine day in April, or is Xil using seeker swarms to paralyze demonstrators? All of these things are possible at the end of it.

Why?

Look what happened in ME3. All ME2 squadmates are reduced to cameos.  I cared more about them then I do about the ME1 characters. There're a few more, but that is biggest one that stands out

Probably to see if the trilogy is worth getting invested in, or if they're gonna punch you in the quad and run away laughing in the last ten minutes

Makes sense given 3's ending I guess. Three didn't ruin it for me though even though it was a bit of a let down. So I will buy them as they come!

Mass Effect: Origins does have a nice ring to it. :D

I'm OK with a silent protagonist if that's what it'd take. More than OK with dropping the paragon/renegade system while we're at it. Where we run into trouble is a directionless plot. ME isn't an MMORPG.

No. Please, no.

I respect your opinion and while I still think DA:O is a great game(at least, what little of it I played so far), but having Warden just standing there and... looking, while saying nothing... that was a big pet pevee of mine. Not to mention more than a little creepy. Having Shepard actually talk in Mass Effect was just blisful.

Some people like them more than the ME2. As far as individuals casts of squadmates go, they pretty much got equal treatment throughout the trilogy.

That's the price of being able to choose your character's species. Unless they want a VA for every combination.

I completely agree. They did not provide any weight to the characters in ME3 you met in previous games the way they did with ME2!

My guess is that they will make a world-state consistent with pro-Genophage-cure Destroy without outright stating it's Destroy. It's the most recognizable Mass Effect world-state out of all the endings, after all, so it'd make sense to have a fresh start with the series based on that ending.

DAI will be an interesting experiment, in that there will be 4 VAs for the protagonist (2 male, 2 female) and a choice of four races

DA: Inquisition is doing it with 2 VAs per gender for all races. Reserving judgment on whether it works or not until the game releases, of course.

Well you will be happy to know Inquisition features voice for your character!

Still doesn't take into account all the races that could be extinct.  or are they simply never going to show us aa quarian or geth again?

Also, Low, Medium, and High EMS endings have differences as well.

The quarians will be there, the geth won't. High-EMS obviously.

They mentioned in passing that they are experimenting with voice modulation and seeing if it's reasonable to implement as well(presumably so Qunari don't sound like choir boys).

So you may end up with 4 distinct VA styles with some variance in pitch within each.

Fair point... and I guess they couldn't afford that kind of expense with first game and untested title. But now they can do that, so hopefully that will happen.

I did a playthrough with the Quarians dead, the Geth fried and sabotage the geneophage with high ems. It would be interesting to see the next game with those choices in the next game.

I'm pretty excited to see what Mass Effect will look like using the same engine DA:Inquisition is using! That game looks fantastic as is. Hoping frostbite 2.0 is powerful enough that they will allow us to explore planets again with the Mako. Hopefully have a lot more detail to each planet and want feel as mundane as ME 1 did.

Don't forget Khaje being sacked by the Reapers!

While you're at it, make it a low EMS Destroy ending.

Or Refuse

You would be amazed at how bad a playthrough one can do with high ems.

With low ems its more about the time it will take the galaxy to rebuild.

Well, Low EMS Destroy leaves Earth a cinder, along with the bulk of humanity.

And it's heavilly implied the relays rupture, not just overload, frying a bunch of other homeworlds and colonies as well.

I would love to see a post-Low EMS Destroy game.. one day. Scrounging for resource in a desolate galactic wasteland (has a lot of potential for 'atmosphere') whilst banding together with other survivors or defending yourselves from them.

But not for the next game

Post refuse would be like a space-zombie apocalypse.

So Bethesda will be making the next one?

Post refuse would basically have to be a new cycle with entirely new aliens, since everything in the previous cycle was eradicated.

I honestly have no idea, but I am hoping Bioware touches upon more real life elements such as terrorism, territorial war etc on a wider scale. The end of all life threat has been done with the Reapers so something different is needed.
