So Bethesda will be making the next one?

Don't even joke about that, srsly.

I honestly have no idea, but I am hoping Bioware touches upon more real life elements such as terrorism, territorial war etc on a wider scale. The end of all life threat has been done with the Reapers so something different is needed.

Not to mention that galaxy-spanning threats to all life in existence too often requires lots of handwavium, asspulling and McGuffin weapons to work. Personally I'm fine with a good old fashioned conventional ending for once.

Post refuse would basically have to be a new cycle with entirely new aliens, since everything in the previous cycle was eradicated.

just because the Reapers come and harvest all advanced civilizations every 50,000 years, doesn't mean that they kill each and every member of said civilizations. It's already been established that while they're extremely efficient when it comes to getting rid of entire species, they are quite fallible when eliminating every last soul.

There will be survivors after the Reapers leave. Not even close to enough in order to rebuild and repopulate and carry on the species. But there will be stragglers that live out the rest of their days in the aftermath.

There would certainly not be enough for a viable population. Basically, it would be a wasteland with a paltry handful waiting for extinction, and then there's the issue of the husks and other monsters left behind that would still be actively wiping away traces of the reapers' presence.

Would that be good or bad?

The New Thessia Republic fighting Victus' Legion for control of Hoover Dam...

It'd explain what the fleets are up to now that they're stranded at earth. Until the relay is brought back online, anyway.

If Bethesda writes it, it will be bad, whatever the premise.

I'll take Kai Leng over the writing in Fallout 3, Oblivion, or Skyrim.

Main story/overarching narrative wise, yeah I'd agree that Bethesda has subpar writing. However, it seems a bit ignorant to say they're poor writers in general. You're painting some broad strokes.

How is it ignorant when I've played their games? I think they are bad writers in general. Their main plots are bad and their character writing is even worse.

And the human version of Javik, with maybe 2 human squadmates. This would make for an AWESOME game, in my book.

But nowadays, I'm hinging towards ME4 canonizing destroy. Game starts at the point the newly developped AI decides organic life is too much of a nuisance.

... and then I'll hit up the BSN.

Not as hard as I'll hit up the BSN if Synthesis is canonized. Delicious tears.

and that makes up all the writing that goes into a game?

They have great lore and their best writing tends to go into the sidequests.

They're world-builders, not story-tellers. Building worlds takes writing too.

I shouldn't have to clarify this since it's self-evident, but this is in my opinion: Their lore is average at best. Moreover, lore is ridiculously easy to write as it takes no actual writing skill. Just a lot of time.

ofcourse. Everybody has an opinion. You asked me why I thought it was ignorant. I was simply obliging. Manners and stuff.

They should abandon Mass Effect entirely and make their new sci-fi RPG something new and different with lessons learned from the ME experiment. No prequels, sequels, nothing. Let it die and start anew without all the baggage that MEU brings with it. Everyone has their expectations and prejudices from 6 years of Mass Effect so the devs will never please part of the base without pissing the other parts off.

New sci fi RPG IP please!

I'm inclined to agree. I love the MEU, but it has plenty of baggage that no game, not even a reboot or AU can ever truly shake off. I'd love to see a new type of SciFi RPG from BioWare that introduces a totally different kind of universe.

And I want KoTOR 3. EA owns the rights to SW games, it's more than possible.

OMG the outrage would be awesome + mix it up with Liara being the canon LI, and you'll have billions of hate and tears threads

yeah, would love another single player KotOR adventure by Bioware. Obsidian just didn't do it for me.

Plus, Visceral (creators of Dead Space...which I've never played) is making a Star Wars open-world game, with the creative director (or Lead Writer?) of the Uncharted series at the helm. She recently left NaughtyDog under shady circumstances, I believe. Though, I don't necessarily follow them as closely as BW. Either way, it's a project to look out for.

Mass Effect is their sci fi IP. Of which they've shown a grand total of 3 years of. (well bits of pieces of a 3 year time span). Plenty of untapped potential for any number of stories. We followed one guy on a 3 year journey. There's trillions of other beings with stories to tell.

They're already working on a new IP. They haven't said what setting it will be in. Knowing Bioware, they may want to venture into other realms. They have their fantasy and sci fi series. I'm gonna go on a limb and guess they do something entirely different from those two.

Honestly, I wouldn't even buy the game at that point. I would neither praise it nor criticize it. I will inflict upon ME4 the greatest insult an enemy can suffer, to be ignored.
