Dunno why but the thought of playing sheploo (to me at least I hasten to add) just seems really dull.
That's just me though.

My vote is still for a small scale story similar to Firefly with no pretenses to galaxy altering events or grand war narratives

This I can agree with. I like Bioware games but the constant end of the world themes are getting a little old, I would love to see them make something more intimate and personal. Even if you gain some influence in the end don't make it another of those massive end of the world scenarios that seems to overshadow everything else that we love about the Mass Effect universe.

It drowns all ther other nice little details and choices and things we do.

5 out of my 6 ME3 playthroughs have been with The 'Loo. Enjoyed every one.

I definitely always use a custom FemShep, especially for ME3, and now I usually model them from the actual ME3 FemShep concept art (makes you wonder about what happened on the transition from that to the default FemShep).

Sheploo looks right but I have a problem playing as him, so I use a completely different face code for each BroShep, although the voice to face option isn't right for one of them.

I think that it is, even if simply for the fact that the PC is not limited to any particular voice, which is especially helpful when creating multiple races that might have unique manners of speech. If DA2 allowed for playable races, for example, and you were able to play the Dalish, how would it handle the dialogue? You can't have the same voice with the same accent for each race, especially since the Dalish in DA2 had a pretty strong accent.

I wonder if it would be possible to record the PC's dialogue with only a few actors and then alter the voices in post-production to create additional choices. For example, if you had a normal-sounding male actor record the dialogue, could you deepen it to krogan level so that you can play both human and krogan characters without having to re-record everything?

I don't know how much the voice actors typically cost, but if it's a significant expense, I imagine BW might just not want to pay 10 or 12 people to record the PC's dialogue for all different races.

My first playthrough in ME1 was with Sheploo. I can't help but like him. But I've played as custom MShep's and Mark Meer's voice fit fine.

Also casting my vote for a more intimate, less "end of the galaxy" story.

IIRC elven protagonists in DAI will have to be city elves. I suppose this has something to do with it.

I think they are Dalish-only actually.

As far as I know the elven Inquisitor will be Dalish.

If Bioware allows multiple races in the next ME they'd probably restrict the choice to races like Asari or Turians which could all be simulated from the Human VA depending on the race you choose (some extra lines would be necessary, of course. Maybe a "Spirits" or "By the goddess" here and there). But I wouldn't hold my breath for playable Volus.

What about playable Vorcha? "We kill you now!" And that breathing through the whole thing. Hey, how about a Vorcha squadmate!!! "Aria say I help you."

I'd like the squad mates to complain about the vorcha rather frequently.

"Tell Gorm to stay the hell out of the mess hall or I'll put him out the airlock myself."

"Sorry commander, Lt. Jones is unavailable for the next mission. Gorm chewed off three of his fingers during an argument in the mess hall earlier."

I am for this too, though Bioware went with a small scale story in DA2, and not many people enjoyed that. I did though.

I didn't find DA2's story to be bad, at least not until the end.
