I just found out (I believe) that Jaroth (the leader of the Eclipse on Omega that you fight during the Archangel mission) has the Geth Shield Boost ability. This is not listed on the wiki as one of his powers, but I am pretty sure I caught him in the act of actively renewing his shields the way a geth would.

A lot of non-geth enemies will replenish their shields or barriers. They typically have to be elite enemies to do it though; I think there is a time limit from when they lose their shields/barriers to when they will replenish their shields/barriers.

Yep. I've seen Cerberus Centurions replenish their shields if not taking fire after a brief time

The mechanic is different in ME3. In ME3, all shielded/barriered enemies will renew their shields if not fired on for a bit. They probably have the same shield recharge delay as Shepard: 4 seconds.

In ME2, OTOH, units only renew their shields/barriers if they have a specific power to do so. For instance, Vanguards have the Barrier power. I have seen that a number of times. What I have never seen before is a shielded boss renew his/her shields. If you look carefully at the vid in question, you can see Jaroth glowing white like a geth who has just used the shield boost ability.

At the beginning of ME2 you get a message from "Admiral Anderson" asking to meet with you. When you go meet with him the subtitles indicate he is "Captain Anderson."

I am talking about ME2. Take the Blue Suns for instance (Garrus recruitment, Grunt recruitment).

  • Blue Suns Troopers, the basic enemies, will never replenish their shields.
  • Blue Suns Centurians or Blue Suns Legionnaires, after having their shields completely removed, will replenish their shields after a few moments of never taking fire. Same with certain Blue Suns Heavies.

I just had a hilarious new experience. I recently went back to one of my first ME3 playthroughs in order to run the DLCs which I hadn't done on that character. She was a vanilla ME3 character rather than an import. I was halfway through Leviathan when she got summoned to the comms by Admiral Hackett. He then proceeded to chew her out right royally over the fact that the Rachni that she'd saved had been running riot all over the crucible!

I knew that saving the Rachni when it isn't the real Queen means they turn bad but I don't remember ever being read the riot act by Hackett about it. He sure was angry :D

I didn't discovered it now but never gave a thought of it much before.
I had this idea when Wrex called Joker "boy". I said in fact he can call any of us boy or girl, being the oldest :)
Then I thought Liara is actually older than Shepard. In their own life span she may be a teenager but not when we look at it from our own perspective.
We know Kaidan is older too and I think Garrus too.
What about Joker and James? or Engineer Adams; he always seems to me as old as Dr Chakwas but in ME3, I got a feeling he is younger.
We know that the oldest crew members are Wrex and Samara.
If we don't count the 50.000 years gap, how old Javik can be?
Also what about Miranda or Jacob..... or Thane?
Mordin is close to 40.
I guess Jack is younger and we know Tali is younger.
Zaeed can be older. I have no idea about Cortez.
What about Kasumi and Ashley?
I'm curious...

Grunt I guess is the youngest, only a year old :)

Miranda's age is pretty hard to peg. The only thing I can remember that we had to go on is that she says she was 19 when she stole her sister. But then her sister looks like she's mid-20s even though she's clearly meant to be younger. The other thing is that everyone says her sister was stolen when she was a baby, but if the sister is, say, 18, then Miranda's 37. Unless "baby" means "preschooler" and then it knocks her down a few years. I'm pretty sure Miranda is several years older than Shepard though, and says she'll probably live half again as long as the average human. She probably just looks younger than someone pushing 40 because of her genetics.

I generally check the Mass Effect Wikia but I didn't check this page out. Thanks. ;)
Garrus is missing in the timeline I guess. I have always wondered turian life span and Garrus' age.

When asari say "embrace eternity" turians answer "been there, done that, young one." ;)

Sorry, no idea.

Yeah I just read about it and also learned that batarians actually the fourth race after the volus that made contact with the council. And hanar, elcor and the quarians made contact even before the turians.

It took me 130h in Mass Effect 1 to find out that on the Mako I can activate zoom view with the left shift key :-p

And yesterday I used the Gibbed-Savegame-Editor for the first time and took a look at the plot-flags - there is mentioned an NPC I never met 'til now although I have two chars who come from earth: Finch. He seems to be at or near Chora's Den, but I never stumbled upon him
Oh, and somewhere else I read something about Liaras father and a related quest? Never heard of him/her, and this is my third playthrough now

Well, there seems to be plenty of stuff left to discover :o

You meet Liara's father in ME2 but you won't know it until the Shadow Broker Dlc or ME3. If you don't talk to her in ME2, you still won't know who she is in ME3.

Of course I was curious and know already who she is :-p And yes, I never talked to her in ME2, thus the conversation with her in ME3 was an interesting one, but without the link to Liara - I had no clue that there is more behind her story :)

I should have guessed something bigger would happen in ME3 about her. She is a bartender in ME2 after all yet you can talk with her extensively even without Conrad being there :)

If you look at the video in the Shadow Broker's lair there's a shot of Liara's father looking at a picture of her. I don't know if you can tell that it's the bartender, but that part was new to me as of last night.

I know but until the SB Dlc you won't know if she is even related to Liara.
I like their whole conversation in ME3. It's nice to know more about Liara :)

Yah, the Shepard Origin Sidequest... Finch appears only if you choose an Earthborn Shepard. But this encounter is only triggered on the time you visit the Citadel after completing one of the Main Missions first  (Save Liara, Feros or Noveria)

*As is the arguing couple (Rebekah and Michael), Planting a Bug for Wong(Only available if completed the first mission for her), interview with Al-Jilani and the Normandy inspection.

On a side note, in ME2, you can check the flags for the three Origin-related Assignments and you'll recieve an E-mail from Finch, Talitha(Colonist) and Shep's Mom (Spacer),as if you completed them all.

(Of course, I just tested this in ME2, but IDK if you still get a call from your mom in ME3: Citadel DLC if you're an Earthborn or a Colonist, even if those Plot Marks are checked)

And Liara's "father" only appears if you talked to Liara in the Presidium Commons, then returning to that area(Taking an elevator to another floor then come back or simply Quick Save/Load) before completing Priority: Tuchanka.

Convincing Liara to talk to her gives you a few War Assets for the Asari Fleet, but no Sidequest... I think that the sidequest you're refering to is to actually meet Barla Von on Liara's behalf. Then, he gives you a mission.

Fun fact, cut Citadel News in ME2 said that the Shadow Broker had been cleaning house and that Barla Von was found dead... But then, it's cut. There is a vid in youtube if anyone wants to check it out.
