I'm currently watching a ME2 playthrough on YT, and someone in the comments section pointed out that there are 3 creepy figures standing in the water just at the beginning of the mission. So this is not my discovery, but I thought I'd share it anyway, maybe it's news to someone too :)

It's really f*cking creepy. Sorry for the quality of the screenshot, had to brighten it up a lot in order to see them.

Spoiler

If anyone wants to see it in the game, it's right by the shuttle where you start, right side next to the boxes there.

Where are you?

Hard to be sure from the screen shot, but I am guessing those are Jacob and Miranda dopplegangers. I can't see the third person.

The third is unfortunately in the dark spot below the right figure, and not really visible in the screen shot, but they are posing very strangely. Maybe it does have to do something with the squad being 3 people, but... I don't know. Creepy nonetheless :)

Where are you?

Damn it, forgot to actually write where it is... It's Freedom's Progress, I added it now :D

Yep, It was always the same for me. (Bolded the important part)

If that happens, just talk to the mechanic Li and ask about the latest news. He will tell you about Synthetic Insights and you can ask Lorik about it. I've done it twice now and always give the package to the admin right away. Gianni obviously says nothing if you get the pass without her help, so just talk to Li.

Part of the problem with animated in-game cutscenes in the halflife engine is that for more complex scenes you need 'extra figures' to animate. Those figures have to be stored somewhere in the same level in order to be available for the animation to happen. USUALLY, these figures are not visible since they're stuck inside objects until the game engine moves them into the camera view.

The extra figures are there in order to minimize problems with gameplay, such as finding your point of view character stuck on top of boxes or fifty feet in the air, or half-buried in an object and facing the wrong way. Or having squadmates have the same problems or suddenly disappear.

In the broker dlc, LIara will say she recovered Shepard's dogtags if romanced. If she isn't romanced, she says she recovered them then says Hackett gave them to her.

Grunt is strong enough to pick up a Ravager like a wrestler (Mass Effect 3, Attican Traverse: Rachni). Usually I rush through this scene, actually stopped to watch ("press V to observe"). He didn't even break a sweat.

This talk of Lorik Quin's quest got me curious: can I initiate his quest without ever talking to Parasinni or Anoleis? The answer is yes: talk to Lilihierax, the Turian from Brooklyn. After talking to him you can go to Quin and get a pass into his office. After finishing up at the SI office Gianna will show up at the elevator and want to talk to you at the bar as per usual.

I thought when Wrex said "That's a big gun, I hope you can find the off button" that he meant my sniper rifle is too big for me.
But he is talking about the AA gun.

Kaidan is the original "what are THOSE?!?" propietor. If you don't shoot those gasbags on Eden Prime he asks "What the hell are THOSE?!?" before Jenkins explains they're harmless ahahaha

The Renegade option is the best option ME2 when dealing with that Asari claiming she is new to the Eclipse when you're trying to find the ship name for Samara. You'll find a datapad explaining why. I hadn't taken the option before that and kicked myself for the numerous fails in other playthroughs.

not sure whether my favourite would be "OH MY GOD!!" when Wrex kill off Fist or after saying that he's a sweetheart; "JOKER’S WAITING FOR YOU ON THE BRIDGE." O_O

In Garrus' Recruitment Mission in ME2, if you allow the Heavy Mech go through the bridge, he will incorrectly say that "Heavy Mechs are in the base"

So, was there plan in having more than one Heavy Mech in this mission, or was it just a typo?

Actually, that´s debatable.

Not only you don't have sufficient knowledge to make the assumption but since you spare her you can at the very least try to question her about the name of the ship. She just happens to not know (or so she says) but it was still valid effort even if fruitless. But she will use the term Ardat-Yakshi. Later, when talking to Samara, she will be very surprised that you know the expression of the kind of person she´s pursuing.

If you´re playing a renegade trying to have lots of fun with over the top acts of violence then I agree. It´s better to shoot her. But if your character is a paragon seeking to solve things by non-violence, dialogue and always attempting to get the better angle through explanations, then it´s better to spare her. In any event, the detective can be made aware of her name and she will become a wanted person from this point on. The mission can end with a happy feeling that its just a matter of time before she gets arrested. Later, if you return to illium, you can hear news about the detective acting against her gang.

Another case that I find debatable is sparing saren´s assistant in ME1. By ME3, she will have gone bonkers and end up killing lots of people. Until the release of ME3, I dont think there was any debate regarding the validity of paragon shepards killing her in order to limit future casualties.

If I´m playing paragon I STILL spare her. Why? Because otherwise I would be relying on meta-knowledge that my protagonist simply does not have. His or her experiences with prothean tech may have allowed the character to experience visions of past events, but not predictions regarding the future. Realistically, it would not occur to shepard that the asari, as a ramification for being allowed to remain alive would in more than 3 years go nuts and start suddenly murdering people. Even if the thought did occur to him or her, it would not be enough to act upon it (hey, one has to consider that she was quarantined and examined). It is interesting to note that at the same base there´s one salarian soldier who appears to be ok and you can also release him. There are no reports if he did manage to outrun the blast and be rescued. And assuming that he survived there are no reports of violent outbursts from him. It would be simply out of character for my paragon shepards to allow both characters to die. And extremely hypocritical to free the salarian who appears to be ok in terms of mental balance but to kill the asari who also seems totally sane just because of a sudden bad feeling of what might happen with her in the future (or not having the same precautionary worries regarding him).

But I do admit that when I want that most characters survive I do forbid Javik from seeing the content of the shard. But I can mentally justify it by the fact that Javik seems to live too much in the past. It´s time for him to accept that the past is done and gone, to face the current reality and try to embrace a better future.

I do not know for certain, but do remember that initially Mass Effect 2 was going to be very different.

There are even recorded dialogues from Kelly stating that Zaed and Kasumi want to talk (presumably they would be recruited in a different manner and only state the necessity of their loyalty missions later, just like the remaining companions) .

In the original Mass Effect 2 concept you would be able to recruit people in different orders. I don't know if the content would change based on your class or background or even if all dossiers would be available from the get go but all characters were designed to participate in all of the recruitment missions and their disabled files are still present in the game. On the pc version, with hacking devices it´s easy for anyone to edit parameters and experience the first set of missions (Garrus, Mordin, Grunt and Mordin) with the second wave of characters.

It seems that the creators were very uncertain during production regarding how many disks the game would occupy, how the content would be distributed and in what proportion the content would become available as the player progressed. There are several recorded lines from the illusive man releasing a varied number of dossiers. It´s even possible that the number would vary depending on how many dlc characters you had purchased and installed.

My best guess is that the xbox 360 version being on DVD and not bluray (nor demanding that people install it on a hard drive) ruined the experience because it would require that people switch disks constantly. Making the game unavailable for xbox unless a hard drive was used would probably irritate  microsoft and drastically affect sales for bioware.

Too bad, because some scenes are really cool, like taking Tali in order to recruit Garrus. The material is worth watching and is available on youtube.

This kind of device, along with console commands and several kinds of mods are one of the reasons why I love pc and don´t game on consoles anymore. These alternatives can increase the longevity of the product by quite a lot.

With that being said, it is very possible that during the design of the game, while trying to determine the level of strength of the enemies they did consider having more than one mech attacking at the same time. Maybe it would scale up based on the player level. If Garrus was one the first recruits, then just one mech. If he was the last, maybe two, or even more. It´s worth noting that Garru´s loyalty mission actually involves two heavy mechs attacking simultaneously. By the way, during the party in the citadel dlc for me3, Garrus states that he always wanted to purchase a heavy mech for himself.

As much as I like ME2 in the form it became available, the fact is that the game was envisioned to be much better. Maybe in 15 years they will release an expanded version that will allow what they could not do initially.

Probably similar to how Zaeed will tell you to get the shutters open when the objective is the exact opposite.

In ME1, Should Shepard speak with Engineer Adams Prior to recruiting Tali but before completing Eden Prime, which is only possible through console commands, then Adams will salute to Shepard and give a unique introduction which can't be heard otherwise. I found this out by starting a new Shepard and then going directly to Virmire, complete it and go around the Normandy.

Actually you do have sufficient knowledge. She's wearing the full Eclipse uniform. Pitne For explains how Eclipse Sisters get their uniform by outright murdering someone.

While it is true you don't know who she murdered yet, you do know she has murdered.

That said, I don't often take the renegade path here after I tried it once. The dialog is so crappy and the timing of the reactions is completely off.

I have had that happen twice with an SMG, and I have seen someone else have the same problem once using an SMG. It is a very rare bug. No idea how it happens or why.

"Actually you do have sufficient knowledge."

Really? Lets see.

"She's wearing the full Eclipse uniform."

But you can hear her acting like a coward and hiding herself. And instead of the others she will appear to be different. She´s obviously new to this.

"Pitne For explains how Eclipse Sisters get their uniform by outright murdering someone."

Oh yes... Pitne, a very reliable source... Who, by his own admission has lied to the mercenaries (actually, by omission of the drugs side-effects), who lied to the police minutes before. Who neglected to report the disappearance of his partner. And who just lied to you by denying any knowledge until you put pressure on him.

It´s one of the first rules of fiction. Only what the narrator says is to be considered factual beyond any grounds for questioning. Pitne is a notorious liar. He lies to criminals, to police and even to shepard (who can be a spectre).

His word is far from being regarded as factual in my book (unless it is supported by a more reliable source). And while the info about eclipse sisters earning the title by killing someone may be true I would not believe in it simply because one compulsive liar said it.

"While it is true you don't know who she murdered yet, you do know she has murdered."

Actually, I do not. She could have surprised me and stated that she´s working for the detective as an undercover agent inside the group.

It´s not even proven that you have to murder someone in front of their eyes in order to be accepted. People like Kasumi and the Illusive man can falsify reports giving a person a fake reputation.

Besides, earning the uniform does not mean that she absolutely has to kill prior to it. There could be a period of field test, a probationary period to allow her to make her official first kill.

Even though she lies, her track record till that moment is certainly better than pitne´s.

James has a brief line about Tarquin Victus, even though I didn't take him on either of Tarquin's missions (Turian Platoon and Bomb).
