Aethyta is very cool. ![]()
In ME1, at least with an NG+, you can create craters in the CIC by tossing grenades around right after Anderson asks you to come to the Comm room in the opening scene. I believe this is the only time Shepard walks around the Normandy in combat gear rather than fatigues.
I also finally realized that Manuel saw Saren during the attack. I missed that before either because I thought he was nuts, talking about Nihlus, or I just didn't bother with the investigate options after the first playthrough. Also, it seems clear that Manuel must have activated the beacon at some point and that is how he got his visions of what was coming, and also why he was somewhat off his nut. Seems Manuel understood the message of the beacon better than Shepard.
Maybe because he´s mentally unstable (aspie? autism?) he was able to process the data better than shepard and make sense of it.
I guess that´s why the beacon overloaded. 50 thousand years without being used, and then it´s used 3 times (Manuel, Saren and then Kaidan or Ash activate it with Shepard being caught).
Come to think of it, Saren was very, very careless. Like a typical villain, he thought his plan would work and left the scene. He supposed that the beacon would be destroyed when the charges were detonated, so he did not even bother in taking a shot at the beacon. What a presumptuous fool.
If the beacon were destroyed prior to shepard having the vision, maybe Saren would have succeeded.
I wonder if the games would have been better if instead of Shepard, the person having the vision were a crewman like Ash or Kaidan. Maybe it would work better if we had to rely on this person´s narrative and perspective instead of seeing it first-hand. Just like Kirk has to rely on Spock for mind-probes and Picard on Troi when reading other people´s emotions.
I don´t think Shepard needed to be the person receiving the visions. it could work (maybe even better) with Kaidan and Ash having different interpretations and perspectives (given their different upbringings and viewpoints, including in matters of spirituality) making alternative replays even more satisfying, and at the same time making these 2 secondary characters more relevant.

It always annoyed me the him seeing Saren is not something you can explore with the council more, they dismiss him as a half crazed survivor, but you can't ask them where he would have gotten the name Saren from... at random
At the least they could have arranged a virtual line up of Turians,
I think the truth is they knew Saren was off the rails by then, but did not want to give up their best agent, even over being behind the destruction of a human colony. They were never going to act without foolproof evidence that would make them look very bad if they ignored it.

It is not Manuel who heard the name Saren, but Powell the dock worker.
Ah well I have not done eden prime for a while and it all melds into one a bit.
Though my point still works with Powell right?
With all it's DLC installed, you can collect 7 assault rifle upgrades in Mass Effect 2.
Or 7 Heavy Weapon upgrades ![]()
Being able to shoot 2 consecutive Cain slugs rocks.

heh. Of course, if you are a Soldier and have the Mattock, the AR upgrades will probably put you in Cain territory anyway.
Oh man I miss Heavy Weapons... Dat arc projector
I dont. Never found them useful unless I wanted to cheat mode outside of one fight.

Exactly, they make a lot of the fights much easier -- granted, perhaps too easy, especially the Cain and Avalanche. I do find them extremely helpful for fights like taking down Donovan Hock's gunship.

As a Sent with a Locust, I gladly Overloaded and Warped his ass off every cooldown. Didnt really need the big gun.

Well you could do that, but the Particle Beam makes it much faster (especially on NG+).

Speaking of the cheat guns. I only use it for Object Rho when I wanna make a serious attempt at going the 5 Rounds. Though I did that again recently though, I think I only managed it cause lolTechArmor.

I have a strict (and somewhat arbitrary) set of self imposed rules for using and not using the heavy weapons. I generally only restrict myself to using them in easy but other wise longer engagements. Gunships are one such example. When a gunship is by itself it's not a particularly hard battle, as there really isn't any fear of dying, but the process of whittling down those ships is pretty boring, so I use the heavy weapons to ease the process (Donovan Hock is the most relevant example, because that fight takes a very long time on NG+, where the gun ship is scaled up due to the higher level, while Shepard has to start over with the upgrades).
As for the Object Rho fight I make it a matter of principle to go through all 5 rounds with every class, without using heavy weapons or taking cover in bottom left corner.
3 people stopping a coup, and a powerful assassin named Kai Leng fails to do his mission, because it's not like he had all the time in the world for Kai Leng to kill the Salarian Councilor while we were away. Lol, and Kai Leng threatens to kill with his Thessia message. Weak! That's what I learned today....me and my brain!

If only he wasn't wearing that crazy plot armor, he never would have made it off the citadel.

Lol, he gets bugged if you Lash him and he falls off the map....

I also found out that no matter how many times you Lash him on Cronos Station, you can't kill him until he breaks the floor three times. I spent about 20 minutes just tossing him around... enjoyable, satisfying, highly amusing, but the bastard wouldn't die.
I did have a regular cerberus mook get bugged on Grissom Academy from a Lash. Playing an adeptshep and trying to exclusively use powers to kill the bad guys, except where it was scripted, like Eva Core on Mars. The Cerberus guy fell through the floor! Jack and the students just kept lobbing biotic attacks at a seemingly random spot on the floor. I couldn't find what they were attacking and the next wave wouldn't trigger until he was dead. I had to reload.

Lash causes some bugs, and also, due to its pierce evolution it makes Kai Leng look like a ragdoll!

That's the best part, heh. When I finally killed him though, I waited until he charged at me then hit him point blank with a handful of cluster grenades. Instant death. His fight was over in mid taunt. I couldn't believe he was dead. I even threw a couple warps at him while EDI and Liara took care of the other bad guys. It was great.

Sometimes he bugs and then you can't do anything about it until you replay Chronos Station again. It's a pain! Kai Leng does die, but nothing happens after he dies. I always try to make sure I Claymore his face before he dies!

I've never had that happen. Just that one time before I figured out he's got to break the floor three times. I swear I could hear EDI ask, "aren't you done yet?" as I just kept Lashing him.

I saw EDI bleed on Thessia! Synthesis was already here!
