I thought BDtS's asset recycling was fine. Recycling prefab warehouses is not nearly as bad as recycled mines. The torch facilities were short sequences, and the best part was in a place that is fairly unique compared to the rest of the game.

You cant complain about the copypasta buildings in BDtS without complaining about them being throughout the entire game.

I don't really have a problem with the recycled warehouses in general. It's easy to work around them with the idea that these prefab facilities are cheap and versatile. That said, I can understand the complaint for DLC's. In DA2, environment recycling was a big problem that MotA and Legacy totally did away with.

Well, in me1 the ships, warehouses, mines, all look the same. Or are just minor variations.

After being sick and tired of the same visuals, you expect something different on a dlc. Maybe a whole different subterranean complex, or a unified structure like Omega in which you progressed by degrees? But no, you get more mako segments with the same textures around you, go to 3 more warehouses done with the exact same assets as the others you already visited numerous time in the vanilla game.

The one and only shining achievement were the batarians and the last structure you had to invade. But most of the experience was simply more of the same.

Everything about it sounded rushed and cheap. Just like PS. In comparison with the me1 dlcs, the ones developed for ME3 look simply wonderful.

Yeah... but the Bringing Down the Sky DLC was free, and it introduced a new alien race, the Batarians. The one that cost money was Pinnacle Station with actual new interiors.

Plus an apartment. Apartments are almost never free. And when they are, eventually someone usually kicks you out.

Pretty sure it was paid back in the day. At least I remember it being like that before the Platinum Hits version came out.

On the PC it was definitely free. You just had to go through a goofy signup process to get a code to authorize it. Maybe on the XBox it cost something?

Im positive that it required payment for the xbox, because I definitely paid for it.

And as for PS, at first I hated that dlc because of the gameplay, but in all subsequent playthroughs of ME1 I turn the difficulty down from Hardcore/Insanity to Casual or noob, whatever the lowest setting is. Then I blast through PS and take that dude's retirement home. Sucka. He should've been more specific about the rules of the bet.

I just noticed that the Turian who dances during Thane's LM has the same dance moves as Traynor.

Pretty much the only downside to BDtS was lack of squadmate talk.  Which is understandable for a dlc

Unless I'm mistaken, the same is true of Overlord. Neither squad member says a word when they get locked into the control room.

The only thing I've had is the normal combat dialogue; I love tali for that.

It´s really strange doing the overlord missions with Tali and/or Legion and not having them mentioning anything in particular.

I´m not saying that Bioware should have re-hired the entire cast, but at least Tali and Legion deserved to have special scenes if the story involves the Geth. Since it´s a Cerberus facility, Jack could also have some special comments, specially after realizing that David was another victim of some sick, twisted, crazy Cerberus project gone wrong.

The same is true for Lair of the Shadow Broker. At least Garrus and Tali deserved to have special scenes with Liara. Actually, they deserved to be able to greet her when we first meet her on Illium as well. Come on, the virmire survivor can recognize Garrus (and there´s a recorded line for Tali too, as well as both together). When Liara visits the Normandy she can comment about the doctor, Joker and the Virmire survivor. So why not mention Garrus and Tali as well if they are alive and aboard? Again, they did not need to hire the entire cast, just for some 2 or 3 characters whose lack of mention makes the scene a bit strange. Or simply have Liara stating that she talked with them on the way to Shepard´s cabin. How hard could that be?

It´s so weird to have mute squad-mates (well, aside from the usual combat cries) that I very much prefer a more honest approach like  the sr1 crash site and arrival. If they don´t want to make the effort of truly blending the characters into the story, leave Shepard alone during the mission. Do it right or don´t do it at all.

I would say that BW addressed this issue with their ME3 DLC. Each of them have dialogue for all your squadmates, except, of course, Omega where you have a different squad than the Normandy one.

Its interesting that if you bring Garrus on the Horizon mission he calls Ashley/Kaidan by their name recognizing them and when you bring him to Illium, he and T'soni don't say anything.

Unfortunately there was no dialogue with Samantha during the Leviathan dlc.

But if they´re not willing to hire everybody again (personally, I suspect that the lines for both Leviathan and From Ashes were recorded during the sessions for the vanilla version with maybe just the exclusive characters having their lines recorded later) , they should either let shepard alone or with new squad-mates (Amanda, Aria, Nyreen). Mute squad-mates is detrimental to the story. Even for the hammerheard segment the squad recorded at least one new line for each member.

Maybe someday the fans could make a fandubbed version of bring down the sky with squad-mates commenting. There are some instances when a smart and short phrase could have made all the difference, like Tali detecting that one of the warehouses is mined, with Ash and Wrex making some cranky angry comment about it, or Garrus being ironic. or when you discovered the body of some engineer killed. Or then, during the final resolution with Balak, having a similar scene to the rachni-queen dilemma or the scene about saving the council or not, with squad members offering their inputs. A normal or renegade Garrus suggesting to not let Balak go unpunished, since he would be able to harm and terrorize more victims, or a Paragon-molded Garrus stating that the lives of the hostages are of paramount importance ans so on. So many opportunities for more character exploration and fun wasted...

I was re-playing Mass Effect One and I triggered the cutscene looking out on the Citadel in the Wards with Kaidan and Ashley. I must've played the game ten times by this point and I suddenly got treated to this cool little conversation I didn't realize was there.

That one's pretty easy to miss. Did you also see the volus and asari talking about the Destiny Ascension?

I just got the Eden Prime scene looking out over the crater where Sovereign took off. I heard about it a long time ago, but never saw it myself until now.

Leviathan was the first story-driven DLC where the squadmates had unique dialogue and commented on missions. Hopefully all future Mass Effect DLCs follow that example.

Legion will say I occasionally when you aid him in the tubes on the Collector Base. Probably an oversight on the developers part.

On the Overload DLC Gavin Archer with question Shepard about if Legion can be hacked.

Some of the Asari on the citadel will have white hands, instead of blue/purplet hands. You can see this also in Thane's Loyalty mission next to the dancing Turian. These are the TRUE Geth Infiltrators. XD

Hey, maybe they're cafeteria workers and they just never take the gloves off.
