When talking  with TIM after freedom's Progress, you can ask about your former squadmates. If you didn't recruit Garrus in ME1, his name still comes up.

If you do an ME1 playthrough with both Liara and Garrus not meeting Kirrahe on Virmire, they will somehow be able to recognize each other on Sur'Kesh and talk like they have met. Of course Kirrahe has to be alive after Vimire for this to happen. Tali, Ashely and Kaidan are the only one's guaranteed to meet Kirrahe on Virmire.

If Garrus is dead in ME2 and Shepard never went to Ilium, Liara will say "where would Garrus be" when the 2 have never met.

If you don't recruit Garrus in ME, he will say "just like old times:" after meeting him on Omega in ME2. I like to know what old times he's talking about.

Bioware really did botch the whole never recruiting Garrus thing. How hard is it for them to do a quick check and cut out any dialogue pertaining to the events of ME1. It's worse than when Liara gets all sentimental about Eden Prime.

I always had the suspicion that Garrus not being a recruitable in ME1 was a bug, like there was supposed to be a trigger where he talks to you after you walk by him near the elevator to the Normandy. This coupled with the character's popularity probably meant that they didn't feel like addressing it deeply.

I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3 again for the fifth time this is the first time I noticed that Matriarch Aethyta is on the citadel.  I couldn't believe I had missed that so many time before.

And also, this is something that wouldn't have happened to me before but I was suitably surprised and shocked when it happened.  This time I had Thane die in Mass Effect 2, so I assumed that it would be Kolyat who fought Kai Leng at the citadel.  So when Kirrahe turned up and died saving the counciler I was so shocked.

My canon renegon playthrough in me2 saved the council.  During Thane's loyalty mission she would watch the turian dancing in a group just before the end of the mission.

When I played my full renegade who killed the council, the dancing turian was not there. I just stood there terribly disappointed until interrupted by a cut scene.

I think the official canon is that Shepard brings all of his companions on every mission, even though gameplay only permits two. That is my impression at least from Mass Effect 3, where there are potentially multiple instances of characters referring to past missions they might not have been selected for. Tali and Garrus have a couple in their banter IIRC.

Of course this makes no sense if Garrus wasn't recruited in ME1.

Is that really the official canon? In Grunt's recruitment mission, Jedore yells over the loudspeaker that it's only 3 people her mercenaries are fighting. Sure, it's a small detail, but the game at least acknowledges that it's only a squad of three people.

Incorrect. Shepard only brings 2.

What ME3 does is strange, but doesn't change this.

The second game makes sense, at least with smaller missions. I imagine Shepard would want her entire team for bigger missions, like Horizon, Collector ship...

Come third game, I imagine the entire team would be deployed most of the time, unless it's smaller missions again(like ardat-yakshi monastery).

I see it more as limitation of game engine and imposed challenge on the player. If you could bring entire team on the mission, this would be closer to Commados or Desperados, or maybe X-Com style of a game. And the game would get quite easy too fast. But for me too, it makes more sense than more than just the three people we see are deployed most of the time.

I always headcanon that the other squad mates are off doing something else. Like when Shepard talks about how Tali helped save the Citadel; I know for a fact that I have never taken her on a single mission especially not Illos. So I always imagine that when the Normandy arrives Joker drops off the rest of the crew and they take out geth on different parts of the Citadel

Lol in Tali's defense, it was her initiative that drove the story forward. I always just headcanon that Shepard is talking about the data she got from the lone geth unit that provided the evidence of Saren's betrayal.

I did a playthrough not recruiting Garrus and rescuing Liara after Virmire. So it makes no sense, as you say about Garrus, for Liara to have met Kirrahe.

Incorrect. Shepard only brings 2.

Except for the mission he goes on right before the Collectors board, that is.

If you listen to what Miranda says over the intercom after EDI announces that the IFF is ready for shakedown, she says that the entire team will accompany Shepard in the shuttle, but from there a squad will be selected to go on the mission itself when the shuttle reaches the destination. I never really cared for this sequence, because it was that little detail that made me wonder "Well wouldn't it make sense if Shepard just selected the team before boarding the shuttle?"

"Yes. Alix Wilton Regan(my avatar and Sam's VA) did a wonderful job voicing her"

Yeah. It takes one great voice to fall in love with another (Traynor and Edi).

One of my biggest disappointments with the awakening mod/expansion for DAO is the fact that she appears in the opening scene, but dies after the first arch. What a waste of a superb voice actress.

Another one of my favorites is this woman. I´m almost certain that mel is also giana in noveria/ilium:

I'm sure folks have seen me post this before on other threads, so others may not know this.

The memorial wall holds 50 names. You can have 51 names and still get the breath scene. I had both columns filled(48) and Anderson in the middle(49) with both Zaeed and Kasumi dead and their names couldn't fit on the wall(51)

You can have a total of 54 names. I had James and Liara die on the beam run which led to Shepard dying giving a total of 54. Of course if your ems is below 1750, the door to the Normandy won't open

That was disappointing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that AWR will play a big role in DAI.

"I did a playthrough not recruiting Garrus and rescuing Liara after Virmire. So it makes no sense, as you say about Garrus, for Liara to have met Kirrahe."

I once had the same idea.

Also, if you attempt to recruit Zaed or Kasumi, or even speaking with the citadel council after beating me2 or even beating arrival, shep will still ask for help in taking out the collectors. And the council will not believe in the reapers involvment, even with shepard having spoken to harbinger at the end of arrival, and with admiral hacket knowing it. The council is really dumb, and shep never brings this points.

Also, even if kasumi was recruited after the suicide mission, on me3 she will still complain that she was recruited to one. She´s not only a thief, she´s a liar!

That is covered by the script.

In a shoddy looking way, yes, but it is covered.

""You can steal the Husk experiment from Bryson's lab when James is there. Didn't notice that til my last playthrough.""

"And if you keep activating it after X number of times, its head will explode."

And if you use it while having a hamster, you will scary the little guy.

Also, when the clone throws your things away, you can listen to the husk screaming.

The same can said about thane if you recruit him after the Suicide mission

Zaeed can be killed on his loyalty mission after the suicide mission.

Seems weird to be able to recruit people after the suicide mission.

Shepard: "I've been looking for you."

Thane: "What for?"

Shepard: "I'd really like to be able to get into the life support room and only you can unlock it."

7 squadmates can be recruited after the suicide mission. Not all at once of course since you need at least 8 to go through the relay.

Grunt(open tank after the suicide mission), Samara, Tali, Thane, Kasumi, Zaeed, and Legion(activated after the suicide mission)

One interesting thing. You can play me2 till the end without ever going to illium and meeting liara. Activate grunt, recruit zaed, tali and kasumi. And then activate legion. Me3, however, will act as if you´ve met liara in 2.

Also, the interactive comic is poorly done. It takes for granted that Liara as present at her mother death, it fixes that liara´s rescue happened prior to noveria and virmire, and accepts as fact that both garrus and wrex were recruited.

I know it´s better than nothing for those who never played me1, but it could have been a lot better.

I also did try one day to have only jacob alive and shep dead. Miranda as the only survivor too. And yet, it was joker who reported to the illusive man. So much for miri being second in command. Well, maybe she was feeling ill at the time.
