Hmmmmm. More tingles.

The Emergent Compendium found in the Black Emporium of DA2

http://dragonage.wik...gent_Compendium

The newest pages:
[snip]
-Two shadowed spheres (*) among stars subtitled "aboofqp iboxE'kbC px bpmfizb kX"
—The notes of Scholar Bodaliere on The Emergent Compendium in the Original Tongue, author unknown

Trivia
The codex contains a reference to Twitter, the internet based social networking service, and the "library" it discusses refers to the internet or "world wide web" itself. The "gibberish" phrases are encoded in a simple transpose cypher, where each letter of the alphabet is shifted three places backward. The phrases maintain correct capitalization and punctuation, but are written backwards. To determine the transpose, we see that the single letter 'x' appears in lowercase, which tells us that this should be transcribed to the letter 'a'. In order, the deciphered phrases are:

[snip]
-"An eclipse as Fen'Harel stirred" (that is the translation of the above cipher)

(*) "Two shadowed spheres" may be a reference to the recently noted two Moons of Thedas.

I didn't think it credible before, but together with what you had before this really makes me consider the idea clearly.

Actual god? Don't know- I could easily believe 'really strong spirit.' But as a use of foreshadowing (and I have a hard time believing the cypher wasn't a DLC foreshadowing), this makes a considerable amount of sense.

In some ways it will be interesting to challenge myself in my first play through to remember that 'I' don't know any of this.

These Fade entities are definitely going to be different, I think. They seem to have more of an understanding of Thedas than many other spirits, demons, or even Thedosians.

Not a 100% sure but Felassan talks quite a bit about him, in one particular conversation with Braila that someone posted about the slow arrow in which Fen'Harel is asked to kill a monster and save the village, it was supposedly extremely strong and would be very threatening to him so he fired an arrow and left the village, the monster killed the village and the arrow killed the beast.
Fen'Harel gained more infamy from this, Felassan name means slow arrow, Imasheal call him this numerous times, he even says that he wants to be the slow arrow, he also compares Braila to him a lot and he was about say something like that again but it kills him before he finished what he was saying.
As for the maker, well that's another mattter entirely and very debatable a

Felassasn, it wasn't reverence though, throughout the book he constantly talked about him, he constantly compared him to Braila, his name is a reference to an story, Imasheal immediately called him slow arrow and Felassan seemed to know way to much about Imasheal and the other stuff I mentioned previously, there was quite a bit of other things, Felassans clan sounded a lot different and so did the magic he used, amoung what happened the last time Imasheal and him talked his tattoos changed and twisted which interested Imasheal abd called him Slow Arrow again.
Right when went to the realm he knew he was likely going to die, he knew there was no reasoning with it and right before he died he said you'll hate me for this but she reminds me of..... and he thinks about Braila again.
So i wouldn't say jumping to conclusions more like speculating based on the evidence provided and what he was likely going to say before he died.

I can't wait to see what magic he used

The book, perhaps?

That's a good thought, it seems pretty likely with the plot of Witch Hunt.  I hope we'll learn more about this in Inquisition when we see Morrigan again.  There's literally a whole other world to explore on the other side of the eluvians :)

Not really. The Dalish dude, who's name escapes me, just seems to hold great revereance towards it, and it straight up kills him. People have just jumped to the conclusion that it is Fen'Harel.

I came to the conclusion based on how Felassan says straight up how she reminds him of Fen'Harel, and then he tells his boss how she reminds him of the boss

Technically he never gets to finish his sentence. He said "She reminds me of ...." then he is killed. Wether his last word would've been "Fen'harel" or "you" is speculation.

Personally I think it was Flemeth, since she is strangely absent from the story otherwise. That of course opens up the discussion wether or not Fen'Harel is Flemeth.

Yes. I base this on nothing other than the fact, that Flemeth ahs been involved in EVERY other event of importance in recent Thedosian history, one way or another, yet she is strangely missing from this tale. Something doesn't add up.

My question is why this force, whoever it was, was so hellbent on getting the eluvians, and even killed Fel because he didn't get Briala's password. Granted, I guess the untraceable teleportation capabilities alone make it a worthy prize.

Hmmm. Some mythology. Eclipses, wolves, arrows, mirrors (eluvians), dragons.

http://www.math.nus....of Eclipses.htm

Eclipses according to the Ge'

The Ge' are among the Amazonian tribes of Brazil. They also believe that eclipses are a result of a fight between Sun and Moon. They say the eye of the Sun or Moon is pierced by a small boy who shoots them with an arrow. The wound bleeds symbolized by the Moon turning reddish and dimming. A shaman removes the arrow and the wound heals.

Vikings

Skoll the wolf who shall scare the Moon
Till he flies to the Wood-of-Woe:
Hati the wolf, Hridvitnir's kin,
Who shall pursue the Sun.
              Grimnismal, The Elder Edda
The Vikings tell a tale about two wolves who wish to eat the Sun and Moon. Skoll (repulsion) goes after the Sun and Hati, running ahead of the Sun, goes after the Moon. When either are caught, there is an eclipse. When this happens, the people on Earth rush to rescue the Sun or Moon by making as much noise as they can in hopes of scaring off the wolves.

Chinese

The Moon was represented by a mirror in China. During an eclipse, people beating on mirrors is a very old tradition. It was believed that a dragon swallowed the Moon during an eclipse and beating the mirrors would cause the dragon to cough it up and return it to the sky.

Alternatively:

At Götterdämmerung, the powers of evil were unleashed: the sun and the moon were engulfed by wolf-giants whose jaws dripped blood.

[snip]

In ancient China, people believed that eclipses of the sun were caused by a great sky-wolf eating up the sun. People beat drums and shot arrows at the sun to drive the animal away.

[end]

The Eluvians are important to Morrigan, I can only imagine they would be to Flemeth aswell. As to why? Who knows. Maybe they can connect to places beyond Thedas. I always figured that the Eluvians would be used to release the Forgotten Ones and/or Forbidden Ones, or maybe release the Elven Pantheon. The importance of the Eluvians however remain speculation on our part.

So...is Celene a secret mage?

"Celene’s hand wrapped around his wrist, and he cried out in pain, then lurched back. Smoke rose from his arm, and the fine cloth was scorched. He clutched the injured wrist to his chest. 'I took the throne at sixteen, Gaspard, after your wife killed my mother,' she said, holding up her hand and showing him a glittering ruby ring that crackled with fire. 'And no, I have no wish to discuss our family’s bloody history. I know it quite well, thank you.' With a twitch of her fingers, she slid a knife free from a hidden sheath on her arm. It crackled with fire as she raised it. 'And I have not ruled Orlais for twenty years with balls and banquets.'"

Or are the ring and dagger just enchanted?

Most likely enchanted, the ruby ring could have the been the ring from DAI preview, when I look at the symbols on the ring they kinda look dwarven idk kinda like Marics sword.

It's the ring.  It seems to give whatever weapon she holds in her hand a fiery enchantment.  She has a second ring that seems to sharpen her senses.  Both were gifts from her bardic trainer.

About time they were knocked off their pedestal.  :D

What pedestal? The whole point of their story is that they've been ground down into the dirt by humanity.

As for slavery in antiquity? Eh. Not everything about the original society has to be perfectly reconstructed.

So the key is to ensure Briala's loyalty, then.

Xil's suggesting that Briala will be the king-maker, so to speak, in the conflict.

Or we could just get Morrigan to do it for us, and then Briala becomes might irrelevant.

That would indeed make him a Chevalier if that's really him, but I doubt it

I get the feeling Michel is going to go the route of Mark Meltzer, for those that get the reference. I get the feeling that he'll be dead by the time our Inquisitor faces off with Ishmael.
