How much of the Templar/Mage conflict do you want in DA:I?

One of many factions you can interact with?
More of a background element?

I only want it to be a normal size arc, with some background element, and some interaction with the major characters on the conflict

I'm not really super interested in the Mage Templar conflict to be honest. I guess I'd hope for both sides to be among several factions the Inquisitor can have dealings with.

No more than secondary plot-line and interaction within the quests. And hopefully not being forced to take sides in this conflict.

Honestly, the potential of disassembling Orlais piece by piece seems a lot more interesting.

I don't really want a whole lot of this content. I don't hate it, I just feel like it was already explored in various ways in both previous games. I'll be happy to see a resolution to the conflict and to see new story arcs and conflicts emerge.

Somewhat recurring througout.

I don't want it to play too big of a role, since it doesn't seems like a matter that Qunari, Dwarves or Elves would care a whole lot about.

It wore out its welcome for me with Dragon Age II.

I want all of it, in the sense that I'd really like for the mage/templar conflict to be resolved for the most part in DA:I. I'd rather not see it continue in another game, although the aftermath of it and how things have changed/not changed could show up in the next game in some background ways.
As for how much focus it should have, well, I don't want it to be the main focus of the game but more than minor side-quest material. Something along the lines of a DA:O main quest on DA:I's scale, if that makes sense.
I'm interested in the conflict, but I am also getting tired of it.

I want them to give it everything that they've got.
Let the world end, what's the worst that can happen? It's not a big deal, we can figure out the veil thing down the line.

I want it to be a large focus because I really don't care about anything else that's happening.

Well, the plot's about "saving the world from itself". Maybe one part of that will be convincing the mages and templars to stop fighting for now because there's a bigger threat, what with the demons pouring in and all. I'd rather not just see the tail end of the war in Inquisition so I hope it continues into at least the next game.

I want it to still be a large part. I know a lot of people of sick of it because of DA II, but things are not even remotely resolved. I want it to be an important story arc, but I also want to focus on the fade tears and the war brewing within Orlais.

My opinion? They gotta make it more personal...by which I mean having Vivienne will be a good first step in doing that. But honestly, the handling of the Circle has been sorta...awkward I suppose, at least with the Kirkwall circle. Like we hear about how bad it is but never see it. Like some of the scenes I thought were great from past Bioware games to illustrate the gravity of something were just in ME2, where you see a prisoner getting beaten...You hear some bits, even if you don't know him and you can take some part in observing it. The plight of the mages and the traumas that push people to blood magic/templardom are probably very real but we never get that gravity by the writing or scenes or what have you. Even Fenris' slavery was better handled than the whole of the circle vs the Templars.
That being said, part of this issue might simply be that it is too political in nature for most people to get fired up about. Here is what I mean: as with politics in real life, both sides have pros and cons and are both fairly gray. Short of having your sister in the Circle, most people acknowledge the messiness and inconsistencies in both groups and...choose not to participate, as most people are with real life political issues.
The core factor in getting me involved with the Mage vs Templar war would be individual instances. I don't care for the pure freedom or pure safety of entire groups because they aren't monoliths. I might support the freedom of one group of blood mages but oppose the actions of another.

I'm fully in agreement here, because of this...
It wore out its welcome for me with Dragon Age II.
If it turns out to be bigger than an average sized arc, I'll deal with it and probably have a great time playing it. However, I'm with wolfhowwl here; it was old by the end of DA2. I will admit time on the forums for me has increased my mental exhaustion on the topic.

I'd rather settle it in this game than the next, simply because I'm impatient and mages ![]()
