How much of the Templar/Mage conflict do you want in DA:I?

I think it's inevitably going to be a large part of the story, but I hope it remains a side-story and not the main focus, as it was in DA2. The tearing open of the Veil sounds like a much bigger deal.

After all that DA2 malarkey, I felt very like Varric: "I think I'm sick of both mages and templars." Anders starting a war was incredibly selfish and shortsighted in my view.

I want it to be pretty balanced about the mages and templar war, about the civil war, about the dragons, the demons but most importantly I want some kind of twist that we don't expect. I want some god blazing dramatic story twist that would make one angry and sad with a mix of happiness :P

I'd like it to be one of the issues you deal with before doing the "main" event. Sort of like how in Origins you went around solving different problems before you fought the Archdemon. I don't really care if you solve the whole issue this game. If you had to pick a side to lend aid to for their support, but the war kept going regardless, I wouldn't be overly bothered.

Nothing ever ends.

History might not, but individual periods do.

DAI sounds almost like a Blight or Reaper Invasion to me. Best thing to do to stop small wars is to have bigger wars.

Or in this case, a bigger crisis. Everyone will have to band together just to survive. Etc. Nothing solves the Mage/Templar problem except ignoring it.

I know it's not the main plot so I don't have to worry about that. What I want however, is to be able to say what I wasn't able to say in DA 2 if I get too annoyed by the conflict again.

If its well written and fits the story I would have no problem with the conflict being in the game.

So long as both sides are equally represented and it isn't the focus of the main story arc, I am fine with it being a reasonably large secondary story arc

I don't want it to be a big focus. Honestly, I'm sick of mages vs. templars. I kinda want to just get the stupid conflict over with.

The giant holes in the sky pouring out demons are a much bigger deal, tbh.

I don't want it to play too big of a role, since it doesn't seems like a matter that Qunari, Dwarves or Elves would care a whole lot about.

*cough* Elven Templars and Mages...

i would like to see them tie it into the war in orlais, kind of blend the two together at some point....  lets just hope they would do it better than they did with it and the qunari plot in da 2

On a side note, I'd really like to see an elven templar, maybe even a Knight-Captain, or Knight Commander.

I'd also like the opinion to beat up both sides for being stupid

I can say with 100% certainty that elven Knight Commanders do not exist. 80% for Knight Captains.

._. Gaider almost made one.

I can pretty much assure you that it would be entirely reasonable for an Elven Knight Captain to exist.

Special case and all, but that's nothing new in DA.

Perhaps it can take up an act depending how many of those there are

Oh? You  have a source then? I'd like to see it, if you don't mind.

The entirety of Human-Elven relations. Really, an elven Knight Commander? Maybe within the next 200 years at this rate.

So basically, you aren't 100 % certain of anything and you're just making assumptions.

Personally, I haven't seen a single elven templar since it's illegal for elves to arm themselves and train.

That would mean there is a 0% population of elven Knight-Commanders and Knight-Captains.

It doesn't matter if Gaider almost made one, that doesn't change the fact that he didn't, and there haven't been any elves that have been made templars that we've seen.

I don't want it to take up the whole thing. I imagine, as the Inquisitor, it will be just one of the many issues that we'll be dealing with on the way to solving the main story arc.

As for it "ending", I really doubt that will happen. Short of taking magic out of the world completely, or making everyone a mage, I don't see how it could possibly end. I imagine it will be a source of ongoing tension throughout all the games. I don't really see Bioware resolving any of the social issues in Thedas, honestly.

Either way, it would be such delicious irony if the so and so elven Knight Commander hunted and killed Dalish Keepers, or even just a simple elven Templar for that matter.

A human joining the Legion of the Dead is significant enough to be recorded in history.

But the absolute scandal of an elf being made Knight Commander, to go on being completely unheard of? No, this is certain. There are no elven Knight Commanders.

Kirkwall allowed City Elves to join the City Guard, and there's really nothing saying Elves can't join the Templar
