This is awesome because I was going to tweet them last night and ask if cheese wheels would make a return in DAI haha.

True, but then again ME had only Kelly which is not really a romance...At the moment i am 50/50 on 3/3/3 4/3/2 splits and i am 60/40 about whether cullen is companion or advisor (greater probability in my book) I am hoping for advisor and 3/3/3. Cassandra and Cullen become too similar gameplay wise, on top of that there will be a warden too. But then again DAO had Sten and Ogren, which at least was so different in height, personality....that their similarity in terms of gameplay go unnoticed.
Also, i really believe in this theory about inquisitor having three advisors (for different type of approaches with keeps and inquisiton in general..) Scribe being trade, Cullen being military and Leliiana espionage. I see Cullen forces raising bridges and destroying mines or sth.....Leliana's agents are probably the ones who poison water to take keep easily or do more sneaky stuff like that.

Gaider was forced to include Oghren in Awakening and if you pay attention to his characterization, it's not a retcon but a deliberate backslide. He's a messed up individual in Origins and despite his accomplishments with the Warden, he never really addressed his problems (being rejected by Branka and losing his place as a warrior, her actions/death, his alcoholism). His arc in Awakening is about making him confront his unresolved Branka issues and deal with his responsibilities a little more head on.
Anders, too, was not a complete asspull...his actions in DA2 were foreshadowed quite a bit in Awakening.
Varric does not have Oghren's demons, nor does he have the amount of anger in him that Anders had even when he was "happy". Nothing we've seen or heard about him has indicated that he's made a massive u-turn, personalitywise, or even a minor swerve.
As for Cullen...eh, his backstory already covers some extreme swings in behavior, and we know so little about who he is outside of being a templar with PTSD that I don't know why people are freaking out about him possibly being in DAI and being ruined and/or ruining the game.

Cullen romance will be required to advance the story no matter your gender. Mark my words!

The only thing about fanservice they said they didn't do was to add popular characters as companions because fans want them to. If anything, that makes it more likely they added Cullen as an NPC romance.

Indulging passionate and enthusiastic fans isn't a bad thing, and I'll get angry about fanservice when people who yell about it constantly also go after fans wanting changes to other areas of the game.
Arguably everything they have done from wide open environments to the return of the overhead camera is "fanservice", as they were all complaints fans had about Dragon Age 2 and things we requested.
It reminds me a bit of how Tali and Garrus returned and became LI's in ME2 due to popular demand, and I don't personally see that as a bad thing.
By the Stone, if it makes the game better, does it matter if it's fanservice or not?
