As far as player characters coming back, "solid possibility" there's more context but let me mess with you a bit

Cassandra and Cullen confirmed as romanceable.

 

Solid possibility that prior player characters are in the game.

 

You cannot shape shift into a dragon, but Flemmeth will probably show up in the game.

I'm not inclined to trust them as much as Lady Insanity but that would make sense, assuming Alistair is not a drunkard, or dead.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but if Alistair was a drunk in DA2 didn't Tegan show up to take him back to Ferelden, so things were being set in motion for him to have a part. I'm really happy about Cassandra being a romance!
