Forgive me if I'm wrong but if Alistair was a drunk in DA2 didn't Tegan show up to take him back to Ferelden, so things were being set in motion for him to have a part. I'm really happy about Cassandra being a romance!
Yeah! People complained about Alistair's cameos being pointless but I always assumed he was included in DA2 to keep him fresh in our minds and to set background stories in motion. If he had just suddenly shown up in DA:I people would have complained that their choices in DA:O didn't matter and any explanations were just retcons.

As a straight guy I have zero interest in romancing him but I find Cullen's character moderately interesting, I certainly wouldn't have been heartbroken if he hadn't shown up in the game, but I've enjoyed seeing his character change over the course of the two games and am confident that we'll continue to get more character development out of him in DAI.
I am curious where the confirmation is on Cullen and Cassandra as LI is, I've looked at the links but haven't actually seen it stated there.
edit-found it, just was expecting a Bioware source.

I am no Cullen fan, but I think he has interesting potential, for sure.
Loghain is in DAI.
When was this confirmed? I know Simon Templeman (Loghain's VA) tweeted that he was recording for DA:I, but he didn't specify who or what. He also voiced other characters and random NPCs, so it could be anything. And I am someone who'd LOVE for a Loghain cameo, but I don't want to get my hopes up on things not confirmed.

I don't even care about him and that's even worse than hating him (at least hatred is an emotion)... So I don't get this 'Cullen hype'. I have a feeling that once again (after Mass Effect) there won't be any awesome male romances.
On the other hand romanceable Cassandra is great news!

Vaguely disappointed about this. I don't mind Cullen at all, and since I usually play mage I can see him and my Inquisitor having some interesting conversations. But I wouldn't say that I find the prospect of romancing him particularly exciting either. Maybe because he looks too much like both Alistair and Anders? Gingerish dude with a square jaw. Plus, he strikes me as a character that's more suited to a side role, rather than a full companion. For example, I loved the idea of him being some sort of advisor to the Inquisitor. That seemed to fit him perfectly.

That would be my hope. It would play out sort of like romancing Morrigan. He reaches a point where something spooks him, and one must decide to keep the flame alive or depart.

You cannot shape shift into a dragon, but Flemmeth will probably show up in the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Cullen's background been retconned? He'd murdered the younglings but then they changed that, right? So from what I can tell he's just a guy who potentially had a crush on a mage girl, then sort of went crazy, then moved for an amazing job opportunity...
What's interesting about him? And not just interesting, but interesting enough to justify having him AND a Seeker for companions? Seems like they caved to the "fans" on this one. And it seems like we have another Jacob on our hands.
