If your opinion is that the team is strongest when in a group, or at least in pairs, then you'll move to the LZ to pair up. If your opinion is that the best tactic is for everyone to do their own thing, then you won't. I think that's a more interesting question.

I'll usually go and stand in front of them with my female Quarian to give them a proper welcome. 

 

If it's Collectors, I'll make sure they debut with a blast.

I play on PS3 so I get that familiar lag spike soon followed by the game freezing for 5 or 6 seconds before someone joins. After that I will normally try to help the joining player.

I try to help if I can; if I can't and they get downed, I still try to get over and revive. Not their fault lolpeaesstree takes forever to load in.

I treat it like any other team mate in trouble situation. I'll help them as long as it doesn't put me in danger. Better for them to be down than both of us. Although, I have been known to get a little reckless playing medic.

Why join in the fun when you can be there right from the beginning?

@geezer - that question really depends on team composition. I got dropped into a game the other night that was all biotic. There I am with a human engineer trying not to get in the way of the explosions. I would drift off on my own so I could FB and TB without adding layers to the BEs. If I had been an adept I would have joined in with the BEs with glee.
So I guess my answer is if it lowers our damage or interferes with the team I'll go off on my own.
