I was playing in the bronze level yesterday still learning maps, equipment, and so on. I have been trying to stay close to the highest level player. They do seem to know more about the game. I have learned about objective and do my best to help. i know you don't run right to the LZ when the shuttle pilot says so. So when the Krogan player started meleeing me between rounds I was like WTF? Just get on your headset and tell me WTF am I doing wrong or send a message. That would really help out a lot more, really it would. Then he just left the game....

The Krogan headbutt, or any character's light melee, is sort of a "greeting" between players. The Krogan headbutt, in particular, is considered a non-optional ritual amongst many.

However, expecting a new low-N7 player to know that is silly. If he/she left over it, more than likely you didn't lose an important player. It's also possible the person was just mad about something unknowable, and it probably isn't worth worrying about too much.

If you are on PC then you will find hardly anyone talks in random games.

Also people on here tend to headbutt the other players on the team as a way to say hello.

That is actually more likely to be a friendly gesture...especially if they were headbutting :-).

Krogan headbutts are for justice, not for rage.  In fact, when multiple Krogan are present it is customary to repeatedly exchange headbutts between rounds.  Because they are awesome.

(and if you ever get into a pack of four Krogan all doing the headbutt huddle...)

I'll be quite honest, when I play with my friend.... we often shoot each other in the face. No harm done, there is no friendly fire ^_^ We just do it for sh*ts and giggles... lol...

Likewise, if there are multiple Batarians it's not entirely unlikely that you'll find them amusing each other with falcon punches.

This is especially true for non- Batarians using the Batarian Gauntlets.  A Volus Vanguard with Batarian Gauntlets isn't an entirely super-serious setup to begin with...

Headbutting is a standard Krogan ritual to be done in between waves of enemies. It is generally customary that you melee them back, especially if you are a Krogan yourself. The Batarians also have something similar with the bro-fist and in rarer cases you may see Human Adepts doing a biotic high five.

They aren't saying you're doing something wrong.

If only more pugs did that... instead they always seem to put themselves in the worst possible position on w11.

OP, here is the definitive vid for your reference.

Edit: It's especially hilarious when the headbutts all get perfectly sync'ed up every now and then.

1) Krogans that do not headbutt back are no real Krogans but fools and should be eaten.

2) A light melee of some other species is a pathetic but acceptable ressponse to a friendly Krogan headbutt

3) a heavy melee after a successful round is fine, too.

When two krogan meet, headbutts are exchanged or blood is shed.

Also, that player may have been me (different gamertag than my username here, but similar). I was finishing up my nomad challenge and used a kroguard for all the bronze and silver games. Was he the host? I was definitely headbutting everybody like crazy since it's been a long time since I've played a krogan ;) I do recall nobody melee'd me back much so I suppose nobody knew about the tradition.

But I don't remember quitting during the game. I may have quit after the game was over though.

I get where the OP is coming from though--it could be intepreted as an in-game rebuke of sorts. But once you've played a krogan you'll understand pretty quickly why players like to do it so much ;)

I'm joking. Welcome to the insane community OP. You may also see other non-Krogan players melee you in between rounds as well, they're just trying to say hi.

We're really friendly. Personally, I act like a cat. Sometimes I'll Lash trophies at you. Most of the time they'll be Possessed Abominations.
