One hammer or both?

Finally got the warlord, and I'm look at builds and play in youtube. The big decision is to spec one hammer or both. Having two gimps tech armor (and melee) and passives. But the hammers seem best for different enemy factions. Seems to me it's spec it for all 6 evos or none at all.

What are the pros and cons? I'd appreciate some advice.

But really, don't take both. They fill the same prime slot and you can't switch quickly between them. There's no reason to try to juggle both hammers when you can just release a 4x BH crushstorm.

This is the current build and weapon setup I use right now. The consumables portion is of course my choice ones. This build is actually pretty good on gold. The main thing is with this guy is knowing when get out of dodge of sync kills or abuse the ramps. This build has been working out pretty well even though it's not a build I normally take.

The switching problem did occur to me. And it seems those video guides usually choose BH if they take only one. 4x? Is there a way to get 4 charges with the Biotic Hammer? If so, that's clearly the choice. If not, how do I get four quick BH strikes? (I haven't played him yet, so I'm less clear on the mechanics.)

I prefer using the two-charge Biotic Hammer only. Hits like a truck, and with a weapon setup that gives around 5-6 seconds nominal cooldown, I never feel that the cooldown is too long even with the full tech armor CD penalty in effect. I frequently just abuse the weight glitch on a HVB/omni-blade Wraith with the Warlord, that setup can deal with most situations nicely.

Edit: Just saw your last question, 2 charges active going in and recharging immediately effectively gives you 4 charges with no cooldown in between.

Just Biotic Hammer..

I have also been wondering the same as OP, so I hope this thread gets some solid discussion. I'm leaning toward just BH.

I go for just Biotic Hammer, since Electrical doesn't really deal much damage in comparison.

It's okay if you can get tech combos and make use of the 65% more damage, especially if paired with a N7 Paladin who has 100% on Snap Freeze.

Personally I prefer to just smash them with the incredibly hard hitting biotic hammer, though.

yeah, either focus exclusively on Biotic Hammer, or get both and skip his underwhelming passives. either way its effective enough depending on what you are going for

I use Electric Hammer, and a GPS with Disruptor Ammo or Incendiary Ammo. It's great for tech combos. Definitely a Geth Buster, but it's decent enough for the other factions, too.

I love his melee and the combos. The damage area gets pretty wide and hits a lot of targets, which offers some advantages over Biotic Hammer, especially in terms of crowd control. Electric Hammer does DoT to multiple targets, and also primes for a Fire Explosion (although only a teammate can detonate said prime.)

I've used both, and I find Electric Hammer gives me a nice combination of offense, crowd control, and wide multi-target stagger for defense. It does less direct damage, but it has some very nice properties of its own.

Most people will definitely prefer the greater damage output of Biotic Hammer.

Either Biotic only or skip passives. I ran 3 in EH and 5 in passives for a while, which worked okay but wasn't great.

I find EH underwhelming, I don't need more CC because I am a giant krogan who can charge enemies like a freight train. So mooks aren't a threat and don't need extra damage to kill instantly, and injuring a couple enemies in the vicinity that you are going to one shot regardless feels pointless to me. Bosses on the other hand are harder to kill quickly, and can deal a lot of damage, so having the raw unstoppable damage of biotic hammer is a far better option than a highly situational power that needs to detonate a combo to deal similar overall damage, that might hit a nearby enemy if there is one.

Electric hammer simply doesn't help the way I play enough to be useful, so I skip it

The build

i use biotic hammer only. electric is fine but i really don't care much for it to be honest. i also spec full weapon damage on him since his only long range attack is the gun/guns he's carrying so i'm just trying to make him more effective from a distance until enemies get too close.

I go full biotic hammer and skip electric hammer completely. I also use a wraith on him to keep it's ridiculous cooldown time to a minimum so I can spam hammer all day err' day.

Yeah, I started with both hammers, but the juggling was too annoying.  So in the end, I went with biotic hammer as well, and used incendiary ammo for fire explosions.

If you want both hammers spec'd to rank 6, I recommend a 5/6/6/3/6 build. Rank 5a for Tech Armor will make up for the lost Damage & Force of powers given by Krogan Warlord power.

I max biotic hammer but not electric- I usually just do the first 4 ranks (and go shield damage), and use it for clearing out mooks with shields (Centurions/Nemesis, Geth, etc.). You already get 2 charges on it, and biotic hammer is your boss-killer/damage-dealer. Also, I don't feel any need to max his passives, so no great loss there.

That said, I don't play him very much, he's my least favorite Krogan by a mile.
