Gonna play as a Dalish with an American accent, DA:O style.

Sticking it to the man. Suck on it DA2 and your "new and improved" Irish/Welsh Dalish accents.

I'd like if they keep the Irish accents for the Dalish, I think it makes them unique in the Thedas like the Orlesian accent. Otherwise they just sound kind of generic.

I'd also like to play a Dalish with an Irish accent as it would be the first time ever I'd be able to play a character with my own accent.

I'd rather not have British accents (says the Brit). Instead have Kiwi and Australian accents :)

Certainly no cockney accent

"British" is kinda broad...

So is "American".

It occurs to me that this could be an area for DLC. Since the voices are apparently "modular", at least to some degree, I can see them releasing a DLC pack that adds new voices for the Inquisitor in the future.

I don't know about anyone else, but after DAI has been released I'd like to see the metrics on the accent type that most players chose, further broken down by race. Would be really interesting.

I suspect that the majority of dwarf players would choose the American accent, mainly because it falls in line with how the dwarves have been characterized thus far, with a few exceptions among the NPCs. The same might be said of the qunari, but we haven't had a qunari PC before so I think that's iffy.

For humans and elves I really have no idea. For myself, it depends on the background of the character. We know that the elven Inquisitor will be Dalish, so I might choose British for that. On the other hand, they did have the American accent in DAO. For the human, I will most likely choose the British simply because it is how the humans sound in these games. However, I can see some American players picking that because it would be a closer representation to themselves.

You know, after the game is released I might make a thread about this: What accent did you pick, and why? Should be fun. :D

I'd actually like this, I think.

They could put out an Orlesian DLC pack, for example. "Now with more accents, masks, and funny hats!"

As long as it's nice and cheap and the acting is good. It might catch some flak from people who think it should be in the original game, though.

Well, keep in mind. Providing a voice for every possible line the Inquisitor can speak in the entire game is likely a fairly costly enterprise in and of itself. I wouldn't count on such a DLC being terribly cheap.

Well do the German versions of different groups of people in Thedas have different accents? Like City Elves and Fereldens or Orlesians or Dalish?

Only some Orlesians. Like Gaspard, the DeLancets...

Everyone else has the the same accent. Some of the voices aren't bad.

Alistair shared the same voice as Kakashi from Naruto, Morrigan and Liara from ME2 onward share a voice, Sheploo and Orochimaru. I believe one of the dwarfs in Orzammar had the voice of Batman of the Animated series... Duncan had the same voice actor as Kevin James. Was a bit weird. Sometimes I imagined him in Doug's uniform XD

Many voice actors changed from DA:O to DA2. I think... the only ones who kept theirs were Nathaniel and Anders? Anders' voice was also one of the voices you could choose for your character.

Uh, to return to my original point: Most accents were neutral.

I... I would buy VO DLC if I could have a human with a French accent and a Dalish with a Welsh or Irish accent.

Like, say, 7.99$ or half of whatever it is that Bioware DLC's run at? Because I think you could get a dedicated fan-base buying up new VO at that pricepoint,

Didn't Gader explain that the reason they don't have more voices is to save space on the disks?

Reason #17 to just give up on disks for good.

I would also like to vote for an Australian accent for the PC.

The problem is,that there are different types of Australian accents, but most foreigners can't pick the difference. If they did this, my biggest concern would be having a faux-aus accent, bring an American to do an impression. Urrgh, when they do that I find it insulting tbh.
