I really hope this new Mass Effect game will not have the number 4 in its title, this would mean it would be a continuation of the Shepard Trilogy, yet we wouldn't be on the Normandy or its crew of Shepard, or Shepard 2.

 

I am hoping for a Sub-Name like Mass Effect - Dark Nexus, Mass Effect - Rising Darkness, Mass Effect - Infiltration, or Mass Effect - Crimson Skies or something along those lines.

 

People are saying they will not play ME 4 cause it is going to be a brand new deal in a new situation, HELLO it is a BRAND NEW, Shepard's Journey is over & finished, I guess most people don't understand the concept behind a trilogy.

 

A Trilogy is for that character & about that 1 specific character, being Shion in Xenosaga, to Dot. Hack with Kite then GU with Haseo, but regarding Dragon Age each game has a new MC being the Origins Warden, then 2 with Hawke then 3 with the Inquisitor, Only common deal Dragon Age is the game is still in that same timeline being Years apart or decades apart. While in that same UNIVERSE being in the world of THEDAS.

 

With Mass Effect, It will work without Shepard. ME was never meant to be focused on 1 Central character, Yes I loved Shepard. & no one has probably clocked in more hours in the ME Trilogy than I HAVE or spent more time than I have creating the Ultimate CAC Shepards.

 

But like any smart gamer, I know all things must come to an end, & I know Bioware will cook up something awesome & epic with the new installment. While remaning True, it will be unique, fresh & different but have that same feeling we all love about Mass Effect.

 

Me, Personally am looking forward to see where bioware will go from Shepard & the Reaper Wars, what new menacing force will replace them. Where in the ME Universe will this take place.

 

When in the ME Timeine being a 1000 years into the future being 3184 or being 20 to 40 years makes no difrence to me, The game not having Cmdr Shepard in it is alone enough to make me want this game.

 

Imagine No Normandy, no Citadel not unless it is a Citadel 2 being a Different kinda of Beast, not Created by the Reapers as a Trap but instead created by the younger Races something like a Babylon 5 Space Station.

 

I am giddy & I have goosebumps with anticipation, New Locations, New Enemies, New Weapons, & Vehicles, PLEASE SPACE COMBAT BIOWARE

 

Sucky Thing ME Trilogy never HAD SPACE COMBAT aka Halo Reach STYLE.

 

For now I will play Dragon Age Inquisition, Keep up the Good Work Bioware, I cant wait for E3.

Somehow, I'm not even sure the next Mass Effect game will even have the words "Mass Effect" in it's name.

I'm more exited about the possibility of playing a new character than I am to no longer be playing Shepard.

You're right. They killed the Mass Effect franchise with the hellish ending to the third game. This will be a new series loosely based on Mass Effect. I hope they don't call it Mass Effect at all because Mass Effect is Shepard, Garrus, Liara and Joker.

 

I think more people would be okay with a fresh start if the 3rd game's ending wasn't so terrible and remains unfixed even with the Extended Cut.

It is confirmed that it will NOT be called "Mass Effect 4" (Jessica Merizan told me on Reddit).

 

The leaves the two top possibilities to be "Mass ____" or "Mass Effect: ____".

The latter is quite possible, given Inquisition, but I'm personally leaning towards the former.

We're done with Commander Shepard. However, I don't think we're totally leaving Shepard behind.

A form of space combat is quite possible, but I probably wouldn't care about it unless it was omfgawesomesauce. What I want is a much more immersive and varied combat experience. You can notice them testing out things for that with Nyreen's/Volus' Biotic Bubble stuff, for example.

They never said that. It's a new story, not necessarily related to Shepard's story. But they never said it's not a whole new series.

 

Consider how DA:O ties into the world of DAII which ties into the world of DA:I, and that's at least a bit similar to what we'll see - imo - in terms of how the game is in relation to the ME1-3 trilogy.

 

That last part was just my opinion though, and you could end up correct. But so far, it appears to me that it'll be 'pretty much' a 'sequel' that doesn't require anyone to play ME1-3 in order to generally understand what's going on, who the protagonist is, etc etc.

The new game doesn't need Shepard or Reapers and truthfully I want a completely clean slate a new Protaganist, new companions and no returning characters.

 

Bioware needs to completely start fresh because if they don't they will be just kicking the Hornets Nest I don't want any ties to the Shepard Trilogy period.

 

I want the next game to have a CC mode that can rival Saints Row 4's, Race Selection and a Personality system like in DA2 but more in depth.

Not having Mass Effect in the title would be marketing suicide. If Bioware even try to mention that to EA they will get told off. Sternly. In a you-know-better-than-that kinda way.

Besides, the mass effect is the in-game phenomenon that makes space exploration and other technology possible. Strictly speaking it has nothing to do with Shepard.

I still see something on  ME this E3. I cant wait, I also see Bioware's NEW IP which isn't Mass Effect or Dragon Age related but more than anything I know this new IP is going to be NEXT-GEN Only. But the deal is I wanna know what type of game this will be.

 

RPG, RTS, Hack N Slash, or Action Adventure, I doubt this would be a Racing Game done by Bioware, This I think could also be revealed at E3, & yes I also think with Dragon Age it will have a more en-depth trailer. & also will have its FINAL RELEASE DATE revealed being in stone saying Holidays 2014.

 

I am going to play my Inquisition on PS3 but I am unsure how The Keep will work on Consoles this is the only issue I am confused on regarding Inquisition. I know the game will not have a DIRECT METHOD being Origins into DA 2 did. Mainly this is thanks to Frost Bite 3 & Next Gen consoles.

 

I am sure in the upcoming months Bioware will reveal more, but there focus is now on Inquisition.

 

I also think it makes since about no DLC Members I think 9 Followers is good enough for Inquisition.

themikefest, you don't wanna know, I have done everything there is to do in the ME Trilogy both versions being PS3/360 versions, I have done every achievement. I have done every romance with both Shepard's.

 

Playing the game on Insanity, to getting Morinith in ME 2, I have played those games so much I have lost count as to how much I have played them, it isn't cause I was addicited to them it was cause I just loved them.

 

I also did the same thing with Dragon Age being my Ultimate Origins then on DA 2 played almost both as much as I have with ME Trilogy.

 

Some of the best games I have played in the past Decade, & I been a gamer since 1983 so me saying that means something.

 

So I will do the same when Inquisition releases this FALL-HOLIDAYs especially being so deep with CAC Options, being multiple races across many endings OMG.

Currently my next games will be Drakengard 3, Tales of Xillia 2, & Middle Earth Shadows of Mordor have no plans going PS4 for a few more years especially with Persona 5 & Tales of Zesteria coming in 2015.

 

All I need now is God Eater 2 being localized on the PS Vita.

I haven't played ME Trilogy in about 2 years I guess, I figured as much as I have played those games, & as many times I have played them doing all there is to do in the ME Trilogy. I thought it was time to take a break from it.

 

I mean it doesn't necessarily mean I will never play the ME Trilogy again in the future, it just means I am burned out after spending since 2007 on the ME Trilogy I think that is enough time on 1 Trilogy.

 

Right now I am fixing to be slammed with new upcoming PS Vita games & also PS3 Games this may with Drakengard 3 hard to believe there is no hype on DK 3 me I think the game looks amazing & it is a prequel NOT A SEQUEL, this shows how the events of Drakengard comes together taking place 15 or 20 years before DK 1.

 

Also no one is talking on Tales of Xillia 2 or Mordor. While everyone is on Inquisition, I think it is better to talk about games closer to release then a game that dosent have a release such as Inquisition or Mass Effect.

 

Also IT WILL HAVE MASS EFFECT IN THE TITLE. Other wise it wouldn't be a ME Game without the Name ME in its TITLE.

Mass Effect should be in the title somewhere... for marketing purposes. It seems this might be a standalone title without being necessarily the start of a new "series." But it's impossible to know at this stage. There's still a lot of speculati--err, I mean, there's still a long ways to go beforr we know anything for sure.

Personally, I'm happy we get a new protagonist. Especially since it's likely we will get to play an Asari (at least, in my head it's likely - and if I keep saying it out loud it's bound to come true because that's how logic works...or magic...well, one or the other, anyway).

A sequel to ME3 has sort of already been made. And without using the name Mass Effect in it. It had none of the characters or situations from ME. Nor did it export any of the science except Omni-Gel Blades and some Normandy armor. The name of the game was Kingdoms of Amalur-Reckoning. And after playing the opening campaign where you got the ME armor and weapons the game informed you that "the weapons and technology was from an age long gone and lost to memory". It was sort of a nostalgic moment fro me, to realize I was playing in a very primitive and remnant world from ME. But the game mechanics were very similar. And I suppose this is how a game could play in the ME universe with no mention of Shepard, Reapers and any of the main character races. And after the Destroy ending where all technology was wiped out and reduced to ruin.

 

I personally hope the Next ME is about new adventures on the scale of Advent Rising. Bioware can just buy the IP from Majestic on the cheap and make a killer new trilogy out of it. ME Advent is kinda neat to me.

Anything is possible, but for sake of having an identity tied to the IP, it would be a huge mistake to not call it Mass Effect. It doesn't matter if it's 4 or The Next Generation or Shepardless Boogaloo.

You can be guaranteed "Mass Effect" will appear in the title. Legally speaking, it's a series trademark. Marketing wise, it comes with instant brand recognition. For instance, if you secured the rights to "Star Wars" you would always use the trademark "Star Wars" on whatever game you were making based on that universe.

Personally, I am glad to see this title do something outside of Shepard. It's a chance to experience something new and has the potential to bring in new fans. I think it's far more likely this next game will be a standalone title rather than the start of a new trilogy/series, and am hoping that is the direction they take things. I still think Bioware's best game endings came from Kotor/Jade Empire/DA:O. All three of those felt like complete experiences and I'd like to see something similar with a Mass Effect game, where you have more power to define who the PC is and how the stories winds up. And let that be a new precedent rather than managing save files between titles. But that's just me. I'm easy to please either way. I don't see myself "not buying" the next ME regardless the direction it goes.

For ME4 I just hope they remove the "urge" to complete the main quest as soon as possible. It's kinda hard to explore the galaxy while everybody around you is saying: "Hurry, Shepard, we've to stop Saren before he destroys the galaxy!" "Hurry, Shepard, we have to stop the Collectors before they abduct tons of people!" "Hurry, Shepard, we've to stop the Reapers before they kill everybody!".

 

How the hell am I supposed to drive the Mako and find minerals and anomalies calmly under that pile of crap? D:
