For ME4 I just hope they remove the "urge" to complete the main quest as soon as possible. It's kinda hard to explore the galaxy while everybody around you is saying: "Hurry, Shepard, we've to stop Saren before he destroys the galaxy!" "Hurry, Shepard, we have to stop the Collectors before they abduct tons of people!" "Hurry, Shepard, we've to stop the Reapers before they kill everybody!".

How the hell am I supposed to drive the Mako and find minerals and anomalies calmly under that pile of crap? D:

I like to think that the lines near the end of ME3 suggest this:

"We've been running until now, Miranda. It has to stop."

Then again, ME2:

"No more running, no more waiting." (though this can be more focused on the Suicide Mission specifically)

Curious, but I doubt they'll have any special relevance.

I'm not that bothered about if it's numbered or not, if it's called 4, I wouldn't assume the character is the same.

As for it being awesome, I'm waiting until they reveal when it takes place and what of the first story will be mentioned.

I think that unless playable races are involved in the next game and an at-least-slightly-improved multiplayer component makes an appearance, not many people will enjoy it. Thankfully, the races are being well hinted-at by the developers and they'd have to be mental not to give multiplayer a return.

Yeah, I agree. A slower pace would be much nicer.

I really hope this new Mass Effect game will not have the number 4 in its title, this would mean it would be a continuation of the Shepard Trilogy, yet we wouldn't be on the Normandy or its crew of Shepard, or Shepard 2.

Er ... no thats not how it works.

numbered sequels do not amount to the continuation of characters just a continuation of where the story was left off or rather in this case where the galaxy was left off however it could be hundreds of years in the future and still a continuation but not a direct one.

shepards dead gone and buried no matter what the destroy ending says they've confirmed it.

it is likely if it has 4 on it at all then it just means we get to import a save but for specific things such as who survived ME3 race wise.

probably would only get cameo appearances from maybe liara and EDI......... at a stretch grunt or wrex as well due to how long krogan and asari live and EDI because well shes an AI and technically does not age. but even to have a cameo appearance is a stretch.

I highly doubt our end choice would be included.

Being that the game's already just over half completed, I imagine that the title will be related to the story.

I see that a lot of the conversation here is about the game's title. It'll probably be Mass Effect: _____. So hopefully they pick a good sub-name and not something really clichéd or a word ending in "tion". Heck knows what that could be, though.

Some people online seemed almost desperate to claim that it wouldn't even have Mass Effect in the title, but Bioware has confirmed that claim is incorrect - so I agree that it'll likely end up being Mass Effect: ____.

I'd like to be able to play another species entirely. While being a Spectre again would be sort of lame, it would grant us the perfect opportunity to pick between the four council races as a new character - Human, Turian, Asari or Salarian.

I'd go as far as to just say Turian, Asari and Salarian. In a universe as colourful as Mass Effect, I don't really want to play as a boring human.

I completely agree, but the sad truth is that in most fantasy/sci-fi games, the vast majority of the player base plays as a Human over other options. People just like what they're familiar with, I guess. Taking away the Human option would be too big a risk.

This more than likely will be handled like the new Transformers Age of Extinction movie being 4 Years after the events of DOTM, it has a brand new set of characters with Mark Walhberg replacing Shia which is a welcomed change.

AOE looks worlds above DOTM, both storywise, botwise, & character wise from Galvatron, Unicron possible being hinted on probably handled Post-End Credits such as Thantos in The Avengers did.

ME Un-Titled could be done similar being about 20 to 50 years after the Reaper Wars, with a New Cast of Characters being set in the same timeline 7 universe as Shepard Trilogy.

Like I said handled the same as AOE, Same universe, same timeline, NEW CAST, new story, New Locations.

But a game like Mortal Kombat X, is largely a unknown, many say it will be a connector to the upcoming Reboot of the Film, while others say MK X will be a Continuation fo the 2011 game, then others say the game will be something new entirely.

Cant wait, I am just glad we are both getting ME & also Dragon Age, I can play Dragon Age then next year I bet ME comes sometime in Spring 2015.

Kudos to Bioware for taking time on both ME & Dragon Age with Inquisition looking worlds above DA 2 being like WTF was DA 2 not saying 2 was a bad game, but Inquisition is going to blow that game out of the water.

Cant wait for E3, ME, ME HD, Inquisition, more Bioware AWESOMENESS, keep in mind Bioware also has a brand new IP in the works that will be neither Dragon Age or Mass Effect related.

Could this game be revealed @ E3

And which races will be thriving, and which will be extinct?

Did Shepard cure the genophage or sabotage it?

Did Kahje fall to the Reapers?

Were the rachni saved or killed?

Did the quarians destroy the geth, or vice versa?  Or did they make peace?

Red, Blue or Green?

High Medium or Low EMS?

The problem with continuing the storyline is there is so much divergence that either one storyline will have to be canonized or major chocies like these will have to be completely trivialized to get everyone back on the rails (Hi, there "Councilor Udina!")

Exactly! I hated that part with Udina - the Councilor. Since then I just always pick him in ME1 so I can say 'Did you forget who gave you all this?' I'm tired of my choices being negligible. Either make our choices matter or don't even give us that opportunity at all. It's like to spend a year in gym only to see that you've become fat. But after trilogy there's need to be a fresh start. If not, why did we get Extended Cut DLC at all if in the beginning of the next ME game we get 'additional explanation and closure'. And please, enough of 'The Chosen One' concept... it's too cliche.

It would be nice to play in a new universe and have options to pick a character not only from Earth but it would depend on what kind of story we have in the game.

The rumour mill about the latest instalment in BioWare's space opera franchise is churning along, and with a fourth Mass Effect game now confirmed to be in development at BioWare's studios in Montreal, we're eager as ever to get the latest.

E3 2014 showed off a spanking trailer for Mass Effect 4 which will have fans of the series giddy.

However, details such as what it will be called and when it will be set in the franchise’s timeline are completely up in the air.

“To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here,” BioWare community manager Chris Priestly said.

“We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game. I see people saying 'well, they'll have to pick a canon ending'. No, because the game does not have to come after. Or before. Or off to the side. Or with characters you know. Or yaddayaddayadda.”

The next Mass Effect made an appearance during EA's press conference. The developers stated that the game will take place in a whole new area of space. Aside from that, all we have is very early concept footage to go by. What we can see in it, is a humanoid solider wearing N7 armor, and a brief clip of a Krogan next to some sort of stand or kiosk.

ALL THIS is from IGN, T3 and 1 of my private contacts at Bioware!

IT WILL BE A WHOLE NEW GAME-NO SHEPARD, NO NORMANDY!!! LIVE WITH IT OR CRY UNTILL THEY RELEASY THE GAME!!!!!!

Sadly when I saw the ME4 trailer from E3, I saw more of Casey Hudson than the game. That told they still care more about his ego than a good story.

It's sad really. The ME universe had such promise but two people ruined the franchise with ME3's ending.

Considering No Man's Sky is doing this whole open universe thing, perhaps another Mass Effect, or Mass Effect equivalent, will put more emphasis on exploration rather than saving the galaxy.  Who knows?  Maybe you can craft your character from scratch or something: Perhaps different species?  Shepard deserved a moderately better send off, but still it didn't ruin Mass Effect 3 or the Mass Effect series for me.  I thought the third was the best on all fronts, especially gameplay.  Okay, probably not storyline, considering there were some inconsistencies and letdowns.  Still phenomenal experience overall though: That can't be denied.

Somehow, I'm not even sure the next Mass Effect game will even have the words "Mass Effect" in it's name.

I'm more exited about the possibility of playing a new character than I am to no longer be playing Shepard.

Indeed - I will never understand why people want to hang on to a specific player-character.

I like playing a new one each game a lot more (at least if it is not a continuing narrative like ME, were everything came back to the reapers) - like in Dragon Age (at least if the character is really a blank slate...Hawke was not ideal for me (they had filled to many blank-spots already with his family (and with the pre-made decision which of the siblings would survive for which class...I hate Carver...never get Bethany, because I never play(ed) non-mage Hawke...not that I would probably like her much either (fearing her own power? liking the circle (with Meredith breating down her neck?)...bah), his origin (living in a remote village far off from everything (not what I would want) etc.)

As for a new character in Mass Effect:

Go for it - and give us "better" companion characters (yes, I know, some of the ones we had were really good, be it Garrus, Liara, Tali, Wrex, Grunt etc. - but some were so LAME, like Jacob, Kaidan, Ashley and Vega...) - and then write a better story this time (maybe something personal, like hunting for a person that betrayed you or trying to uncover a galactic conspiracy etc.)

greetings LAX

Having Mass Effect not in the title makes no sense from a marketing standpoint. Shepard not being in it is the main reason I won't be buying it, not straight away anyway,

I'll wait for the reviews, if they're very good I might try it.

Not having Shepard in the story just makes no sense. He/she saved the galaxy; not mentioning that in any way is just silly. The only way it would work is if your main character escapes the Milky Way galaxy during the Reaper war which is the direction I suspect they will go.

I like the idea of a fresh start with a new character and they will likely let you pick the race too. I just hope they don't release a DLC at launch like they did for ME3; that's just insulting. Honestly, they really need to push more free content and give fans what they want in an effort to win back the players they lost with the Hudson/ Walters ending fiasco.

Once they release a trailer with some content (not a "I love me" to Hudson) and explain the story, will we see if the ME universe can survive a threat greater than the Reapers...the writers!!! ;)
