Well that's what Tully said.

I can't remember who made the comment but there was a later one from BW essentially saying that it was up to the player whether Shepard lives or dies. Essentially, it's over to headcanon at that point.

I think the intention is pretty clear that Tully was/is right, so why the need for the later trolling attempt, who knows....

The whole "it could have been Shepard's last breath" thing never made sense anyway - you already think you're dead at that point. Are you really going to include another scene that essentially says "Hey, you're not dead....ok, so now you are."?

Nope, you would not. Gainaxing comes to mind. To call upon a trope.

To me the situation is clear, and that statement confirms it. Period :)

I agree. It does to me as well. Shepard lives. That being the case, epilogue please.

Even Jacob makes it into the epilogue FFS......

The ME4 game from what I hear and see - is a new storyline , its rather about several off world problems thrown in a big score and it isnt centred around one common issue "kill the reapers" - the reapers are dead and Shep's off battlefield.

That being said - on a cosmic timeline - I desire for a very nice history .................like the Alliance assembled the biggest fleet in the Univ whose numbers were far greater than Reapers - the God like commander Shepard decimated everything which is the darkness of the Reapers for the organic species to survive .
In the versions where Shep lives with all his team mates and romance partners hail and happy - would provide a huge positive go ahead for any future expeditions and N7s of humanity and boost its relationships with other species. This would unlock a number of interesting plots if the ME universe existed for real.

Bioware wants to make a game of epic proportions this time which calls for the possibility of real life like consequence of the decisions made by Commander Shepard on and off missions - even though in small scale but still in key positions and it is not about Reapers, but the intricate details of inter species relationship on political and strategic level.

Shepard's personal romantic interest can only have a child who can either be the new N7 lead or the bad news for the galaxy.
This character would be an interesting kind - he has to live up to a name which every organic species regards as a Legend - just the thing BioWare needs for a series of epic proportions.

The Save game from the trilogy has to be there - because an entirely new game universe would have very little to unearth and would be like ME1 which is not what BW plans.

So - No Commander Shepard in the new game but the results of his actions at both personal and galactic level - a perfect way of putting it.

I don't see BW going for epic in the next game/series. How do you top preventing the annihilation of galactic civilization?

Smaller in scope, and probably more intimate I would have thought for the next game.

BW wants to make it epic , read it here :
http://www.trustedre...rs-release-date

Saving a certain galactic tragedy is not always a thing of epic proportions - this is what I had been trying to convey all this time.
Commander Shepard was just about one thing "expletive" the Reapers...............you cannot go through a single mission where the reapers aren't a concern - damn they were in talks in the Citadel party too at Shep's condo Tiberius towers.

Without Shepard its a new world devoid of Reapers - a world which can be full of consequence of the aftermath of Reaper vs Galaxy united front.
Lets think about new Krogan civilisation, rebuilding Palaven,Salarian uncertainity,Humans commanding new galatic supermacy almost to the tune of the Protheans - Quarian trying to jump start synthetic life form again.

Fine intricate plots which epic detailing - each decision is a game changer - with matching fight sequences.
The new N7 can take part in space battles flying Alliance jet fighters ar warp speeds............chasing in FTL - discovering new planet bodies - forging new alliance and making new foes.

I dont know what hardware it would demand for a PC.........but thats what BW really wants to go for it seems.

The timeline will be set during Shepard's lifetime though, albeit potentially in a different galaxy.

They're going to need to spin that one well, otherwise it's going to suffer from "It doesn't matter what happens here Shepard's going to synthesise us all in the end"-syndrome.

My stance on ME:Next remains the same - I still haven't heard a great idea for a new game or series of games, and that includes everything that BW have said/teased so far.

The strength of shepard lay in the choices presented by the social and dialog options. the variety of the choices. You could literally play him your way. As long as they keep the same social mechanics, it won't be hard to form a connection to the new guy/gal.

Well, that's not entirely true... i mean, you're right on the main decisions; you always had the choice (even though there were mainly just two different options), but the game itself was clearly meant, to be played either as paragon or renegade. Taking the middle-path was often not a option and even if it was given, it had mostly no benefit.
Too often i came across situations, where dialogue options were greyed, because my paragon/renegade bar wasn't high enough. And that's something i really don't like.
Give the player all choices right from the start and the consequences - my reputation - should be reflected by the environment.

And about Shepard: He was ok for being the main-character of a new franchise. I'm just not too fond of those military-guys in scifi-setting (stereotypic and overused). I prefer the Han-solo-type of a main protagonist... someone who's a bit more handy, someone with a deeper background.
So i'm looking forward to see, what Bioware will offer.
