I really hate this one hack location, but I guess it's better than the other one right next to the LZ. As others have stated already, nuke, nuke and more nukes. If you try to kite, you'll just end up separating and dying all over the place further reducing the chances of success.

I believe the "the pack of Phantoms" is exactly 2 units big on w10 Cerberus.

That being said, nuke the Banshees (wait until the last possible moment to buy yourself some more time). Everything else should be manageable.

edit: and despite your description, I'm not sure whether you mean the hack, closer to the long ramp leading into the basement, or the one next to the LZ balcony?

Nuke them when they all get in. Or make the banshees stop jumping with firepower then deal with the phantoms or have certain teammatess deal with the phantoms while another two can stop the banshees to buy time, or leave the hack circle for a bit to kite the enemies but of course all of your teammates would have to cooperate in some way

It's the one right next to the LZ. Sorry if the description wasn't clear.

I thought there were more than 2 phantoms - maybe 3 or 4? The spreadsheet gives 'unlimited' for max active at once and max per wave, though I'm not sure I've fully understood it:

Anyway, thanks again for the tips

Hmm, yeah the OP's description of the hack area is ambiguous. I assumed he meant the one on the top level in the lab with the L-shaped cover and immediately adjacent the ammo box. But he may be talking about the other one on the same level with an exit down the stairs to the LZ.

Because of power creep a four person team should basically never need to leave the hack circle, unless you are artificially limiting yourself to crap guns or characters.  And the fact that you should have started the match with 24 Cobras.

There are 3 hacks that are right next to the LZ (though not all of them accessible to directly from the LZ).

Do you mean the one above the C, the one above 4, or the one around B?

As far as the wave composition is concerned, yes, it says unlimited for the Phantoms, but it also says 2 for Banshees, 2 for Atlases and 2 for Geth Bombers, meaning there's only 2 slots left for the Phantoms.

Oh I see now. Yes that's the one I hate because it's easy to get boxed in with no way out. I suggest leaving the hack zone and pushing toward the LZ focusing all fire on the Atlas and using the crates for cover. Once you're up on the balcony to the left of the LZ, you can snipe back down to the hack zone to clear out the phantoms and banshees.

I think the OP means the hack zone at the #4 spawn point on that diagram.

It's the one above the little green C, to the immediate right of the yellow box saying 'Science Lab'.

Is it impossible for there to have been more than 2 phantoms? For example, if a bomber or two had been killed, could they have been replaced by phantoms instead? I could've sworn there were more, but maybe the trauma of that wave has affected my memory...

Oh

No, he meant the one on the C.

Oh that's one of the easier ones on that map. I'd say tough it out but keep the back door to the LZ free. If things get too hairy, bug out down the stairs--the crates at the LZ will give you cover to run around there and snipe at whatever follows you down the stairs

Nope. The maximum active limit also happens to be the the minimum active limit, meaning the killed units immediately get replaced by new ones of the same type until the wave budget is depleted, which never happens during the objective waves.

I sometimes think lag allows for the appearance that 3 phantoms/banshees/whatever are on the field at the same time.  One of them is already dead - your machine just doesn't know it yet.  This may defy science of course, but I have definitely seen 3 banshees in my line of sight (briefly) on Condor/Gold wave 9 on at least two occasions - both laggy games.

Get as many enemies into the hack circle as you can, then have someone fire a missile at the ground near the mob.

This
leaving the circle almost never works
Also use your ops packs to stay upright during objectives. If you don't pop them like candy like I do

Dance among them with cobra as long as you can, missile, rinse and repeat.

Unless the team has a pair of destroyers/TSols with brophoons for banshees and an ArcPistol user for teh phantoms and drelldept with lol-reave-clusters.

The problem with kiting is that it's something that everyone has to be on board to do. Everyone would have to move from the hack in this case. If there's no communication, that might be harder to do. So what you do is you wait as long as possible for as many things to get as close as possible, then you rocket that ****.

Basically, what Pearl said.

Pretty much what everone else said launch rockets till empty and if things look dire find you favorite sync killer and get picked up, stabbed, slammed etc... I prefer the Atlas since he puts you down so straight.

Kite only if you are the last man standing. Otherwise,

HOLD THE LINE. Fission FTW.
