I haven't played ME1 for a long time. But late last year when I was browsing through the Nexus mod site, I noticed there was a graphics mod for ME1. I downloaded last year but never used. I recently saw it again and noticed an update and decided to try it. It is amazing. It nearly doubles the size of the ME folder in upgraded graphics and the differences are striking. I'll post a few images for now to show a difference.

I might have to get this.

Which begs the question though... will I ever stop playing this damn game?

The mod comes in two files totaling nearly 3gigs. The armor and uniforms in the game are very detailed as is much of the environments and structures. It has an installer so you don't have to figure out where to place the files or use ME3Explorer. As an aside, the top image in my OP is the vanilla Liara and the 2nd is obvious. Here's a shot where you can see her scales (which you don't really see in the second modded shot I gave in my OP) just like in ME3. Note how detailed the fabric linings are in her uniform.

That is something else, and that's Mass Effect 1? I've never found much of a difference in texture and graphic-based mods, no matter what the game. This is the first time I've really noticed something of a difference, and it certainly is a difference.

how about a download link for the mod itself? I was about to start a new trilogy playthrough with a new Shep, but now I should get this first.

is this it?

Yes, that's it, sorry for not posting the link. Be sure to read the posts there at Nexus regarding this mod, as many have experienced crashes, especially one at the Feros elevator which I experienced. Fortunately for me, I kept two installs of the game just in case (learned my lesson with ME3). When I got the crash, I just loaded the save using the vanilla seup until I got to the next scene and made a save, then restarted it with the modded install. it may seem like a hassle, but visuals are well worth it.

Be sure to save OFTEN. :)

I modded all 3 games to allow me unlimited saves*, it's not an issue. however I've experienced the Feros crash without any mods. and the Noveria crash during the initial conversation with Anoleis, and during the assets load when I manually go around the Presidium (from Barla Von to Sha'ira and back).

*ME3 was a beach to nail but persistence won in the end. I shared the info around here a while back as well, and people were glad not to have their "careers" spread out in multiple folders. I got about 450 saves in my latest playthrough.

and naturally you gotta have a beast of a pc, otherwise using this mod will be a FPS nightmare.
