Welcome, Inquisition Scouts, to the Dragon Egg Hunt: a yearlong cryptic quest from BioWare and the puzzle gods at Lone Shark Games!

You are charged with protecting Thedas from dark forces who seek dragon eggs for their own sinister designs. To stop them, you must hunt down a collection of rare eggs and claim them for your own. Succeed, and some may call you a hero. Fail, and, well, you won’t get a prize.

The game begins this weekend at PAX East, where 18 factions from all over Thedas will search for the elusive dragon eggs. The hunt then continues over the next year at gaming conventions across North America.

The eggs are divided into three groups of challenges. Each will test your worthiness through feats of body and mind:

  • Warrior Challenges require strength and willpower.
  • Rogue Challenges will test your cunning and dexterity.
  • Mage Challenges measure magic and constitution.

egghunt.jpgThis weekend’s Warrior and Rogue challenges can be found at the BioWare Base at PAX East. If you’re in Boston, come by and test your skills. The best among you will be entered to win BioWare swag.

For those of you at home, fear not: you still have a chance to partake in the hunt. The Mage challenge will be online throughout the weekend, dispersed among the various BioWare social media sites.

This challenge involves carefully analyzing a dozen images and answering the associated questions associated. Only those knowledgeable in the culture of two worlds will be able to master this perplexing challenge, and gain the 12-letter answer.

Send your best stab at the answers to dragonegghunt@bioware.com. You can also use #biohunt to follow the game and engage the help of your fellow scouts.

When the weekend is over, we’ll select a winner for a special prize.

Ready yourselves, the Dragon Egg Hunt is upon us!

This would be Soverign/ The Reapers "We are each a nation independent of all weaknesses"  or something of that sort, right?

Any ideas on Clue 2?

So is it saying there will be 12 of these riddles and then the final 12-letter answer will have a letter from each of the answers to the riddles? Or am I reading it wrong? And yeah I haven't seen riddle #1 anywhere.

Riddle #2 looks like the Presidium to me. Maybe Horizon too but I don't recall any particular sculptures there. Or at least those are the only grassy places I can think of. So if it's on the Presidium I'd say the answer would either be the krogan statue or the Conduit, which is prothean.

Riddle #3 is definitely the Illusive Man. I'm not sure if the actual riddle is referencing Cerberus or the Reapers being independent though as he has attachments to both.

Clue 2 is concept art of the quarian Migrant Fleet. However, there is no sculpture in the picture.

This *may* mean that all the clues might have to do with each other. The 'sculpture' may be something that is related to Picture 2, sure, but we may gain context about the Clue from other Clues.

Clue 1 may be Dragon Age related, but if it is Mass Effect, it's certainly unfamiliar to me. (https://www.facebook...?type=3 may need to Like the Bioware page)

Clue 3 seems to heavily imply the Reapers, or at least some form of synthetic construct. I have some other thoughts here, but I'll wait and see first.

The picture is a nug from Dragon Age. I have no idea how "Who brought the team?" could be related to that though.

Yeah, it is definitely a nug.  The questions are supposed to span between Mass Effect and Dragon Age universes, so I think this is definitely a DA question.

Brought the team is a bit baffling to me though.

Hrm, I can't seem to find the concept art you are talking about in clue 2. It looked like the presidium to me, but if you have seen the picture quarian may be the answer.  And the "sculptures"  look like blurred people, but they may be geth or quarians, if what you are saying is true.

Thanks for finding Clue 1!

Riddle #4 is here: pic.twitter.com/eA795f2Xft

Not sure what the picture is but I believe the Citadel (or at least the presidium part) is considered a Stanford torus.

It could be the design on these pillars, which is concept art from Dragon Age. So yeah I'm not sure what the connection is between the pictures and the questions.

So this is what we have consensus on right now...

Clue 1-  Nug Concept Art- Who brought the team?  ANSWER: Unknown- Nugs?

Clue 2-  Quarian Fleet Concept Art? (I'd still like a link)- No statues in art though- What nationality is the sculpture?  ANSWER: Quarian

Another posibilitity is this is the presidium and the statue in the presidium is of a Mass Relay.  in that case, ANSWER: Prothean

Clue 3-  The Reapers/ Sovereign/ Illusive Man- What is Independent?- Illusive man concept art- Due to the "We are each a nation independent of all weaknesses" quote  ANSWER: Reapers

Clue 4- Dragon Age Deep Roads Concept Art- Who's Torus is it?  ANSWER: The Dwarves

Riddle #5 on the Mass Effect facebook page:

I think this might be the frostback mountains as seen in this picture.

It looks like Dragon Age and that is the right concept art.  But what could the riddle mean?

I'm really not sure about the riddles yet, but it seems like there might be a "dwarven" theme with the Dragon Age pictures. So far we've seen nugs, the deep roads, and the frostback mountains which are all things we see in Origins during the Orzammar quest. I'm less sure about the Mass Effect pictures since I can't find the concept art that #2 is from.

I am still trying to figure it out.  Are the photos hints to the riddles answer or do the two together create an answer that assisting with the 12 lettered final answer.

Also did anyone find the concept art for Clue 2?  I am not the best with Mass Effect Art.  Ninja'd

Kukumburr, I totally Agree with you.  The riddles are making me stumble a bit, but the concept art is very thematic.

I was thinking the Mass Effect may be Citadel/Reaper Tech based. ?  We have Reapers, Prothean- Mass Relay Sculpt (maybe if we decide it is the presidium).  Not sure yet though.  Without confirming Clue 2 I am a bit stuck.

Why would there be Dragon Age art posted on the Mass Effect page for Riddle 5?

And how can concept art have a feeling?
