Ah, yeah, it sounds like CONSECRATION could work.
I didn't have the ME book, and obviously Stanford replaces Rosenkov?

I'm annoyed you couldn't solve the riddle without the books.
Really annoyed.
You got it kukumburr. There was just one thing I had incorrect -.-
It was NASA's Stanford Torus
So we were using N in NASA instead of the S in Stanford...
Hold on though - where did you get Stanford from?
I just checked with a friend and there's no Stanford Materials in the weapons part of Art of MEU. The only _____ Materials is Rosenkov.

Indeed. This really should have been based on your knowledge of the lore, not your ability to afford high priced art books.
...Sorry about that one guys! Good job Kukumburr! I think CONSECRATION is correct.

It's instead of the second 'N'. I thought the answer was 'NASA', but after re-reading, it looks likely that the answer is 'Stanford'. The book states that "We referenced NASA concepts, including the Stanford torus design".

#7 is "Whose materials are they?" which is Rosenkov, #4 is "Whose torus is it?" which is Stanford. Stanford torus is named after Stanford University I think which is why it's that and not NASA.
Yeah, kukumburr is right again.
Oooooooh.
That makes a lot of sense.
No wonder all the anagram solvers weren't finding anything, lol.
Good job kukumburr on finding it!
So... We've all emailed it now?
How did you get Nevarra? The pic on Mass Effect (TIM) is pg 146, and the only thing on pg 146 for Dragon Age that would fit 'independent' would be DUMAT. Or Grey Wardens.
EDIT: Nevermind, double checked things. There's two TIM pics that look the same in the same book ![]()
I was going by that same artwork of TIM on page 86.

That TIM picture is in the book twice. The first appearance is on pg. 86.

Yeah, it's a larger shot of only his head on pg. 86.
That's actually a bit confusing, using a clue that's featured twice in the same book.
Yeah I just looked it up on my own and was like DOH ![]()
I'll email this now. I did groundwork myself too ![]()
Well I think Kukumburr is the winner! ![]()
They said we've completed three of eighteen challenges.
If a third of them are online in the future (for those of us who can't attend conventions), that probably means five more online challenges spread out over the next year at convention times.
(EDIT: In reply to annoyance at needing art books)
I'm not annoyed.
They did Rogue, Mage, Warrior trials.
We're allowed to participate in the Mage trial, but WE are EXTRA. Over at PAX, they likely had art books around for them to read. So it's really a 90% PAX thing, but they tossed part of an activity towards us just because.
I'm not sure I really like that you basically had to have both books to get the answers, even though I do have them. You could still be "knowledgeable in the culture of both worlds" without ever having read them. Oh well, I'm still a sucker for any sort of puzzle and I hope they do more online ones.

Sounds like fun!

Yeah, on this note, people pay for PAX tickets/ convention tickets in general. So the fact that we get to do anything at is nice. Having the books is kind of pain, though I guess that is why they let us pool resources online!
Also, good work everyone who participated with this online! I hope we all get to work together in the future on the other puzzles ![]()
I'm definitely game for the next puzzles. ![]()
Hopefully the next ones will be a little more widely accessible. ![]()
