Do we have some information I don't know about that says Iron Bull isn't a sareebas? Because I think that would be kind of awesome.

His concept art thus far doesn't show any of the signs of him being a sareebas. But to my knowledge they haven't directly confirmed what class he'll be yet. I actually wanted the choice of the Inquisitor being a sareebas but that's probably asking for too much.

Wait...so we have
* Viv / Solas / (DHMG?)
* Cass / Beardy / ... >> either Iron Bull, then Cullen is just an NPC, or Cullen as warrior and IB rogue
* Sera / Varric / ... >> IB or if he is a warrior, we get a new rogue character. Maybe Cole? (as somebody from Asunder)
What does DHMG stand for?

Not just his concept art. Even the screenshot and trailer footage from the back has him with that giant f-off sword.

OH SWEET MOTHER OF ...um - ANDRASTE. CAN A DEV VERIFY THIS SILLY B.S. SO WE CAN STOP GOING BACK AND FORTH ON IT? WHY CAN'T MY CAPS LOCK MAKE THINGS BIGGER THAN THIS... pfffffffffft
They like watching us squirm. I imagine the back and forth is exactly why the sadists don't tell us.

If our party is composed of the best of the best, I don't see Cullen as a companion. He's competent and experienced, certainly, but hardly in the elite of Thedas' swordsmen. My vote goes for the advisor role, with the bearded Grey Warden as the third warrior companion.
This is certainly something I can agree with. I don't think anything we've seen of Cullen suggests he's more than "better than average" as far as combat goes.
Really, I think that if they decided to start pushing him as "best of the best" on me, I'd like the character a lot less.

I would disagree with regard to seeing Cullen as "average", imo, having a warrior with anti-magic abilities would seem to me to be very useful considering the myriad of demons we are sure to encounter as a result of a plethora of open veil tears. Sure a S&B warrior like Cassandra or 2H like Iron Bull are great for barbaric fighting, but sometimes one does really appreciate a little "Smite" now and again.

One could argue that Cassandra would have similar abilities being a Seeker

I don't think she does though. She seems to be an exception.

I don't know. Even in DA2 where mage enemies were a dime a dozen, I never found myself wishing for a templar companion.
And I did say Cullen is "above" average. I just think there's a good bit of distance between "above average" and "best of the best". It's not like his powers are even unusual; if all we're asking for is the ability to smite than any ol' templar would do.

How about best of the few Templars left loyal to Justinia and the Chantry?
That said, I am tired of the back and forth on Cullen. One PAX East report has him confirmed as a companion while LadyInsanity's only mentions his confirmation as a romance character. At this point, I want the teeter totter to stop.

When we last met Cullen he was a Knight-Captain and according to the Wiki, he was second-in-command after Meredith. Presumably he takes control of the Templars there after her death. Perhaps he even becomes the Knight-Commander. That should at least qualify him for a spot on the Inquisitor's team, no?
He certainly has the credentials.

Hahahaha...woo I just have to laugh there for a minute. People saying Cullen is only an average fighter not the best of the best. How do we know that he's not the best of the best? He has never been a companion so therefore we have never really seen him fight. I am good with him being a companion and also if he's not. Can't people just get over the character bashing and deal with it. There are always going to be characters you like and characters you don't like. Oh my, it's like real life!
Hey, I'm not bashing the character. I rather like the character. I might go so far as to say that Cullen is my second favorite non-companion character in the series.
I just don't particularly want him as a companion.

Agreed, i've seen enough of him, i'd prefer they save room for new characters. I'm already disappointed at the amount of humans we have this time around, throw in a female dwarf or even better, a female qunari. For me personally, that would be more interesting judging off of what we already know about cullen
