BioWare, while I am happy to hear any news regarding DA:I, especially companion information, I feel as though if you were going to announce a couple of LI's, that you would have been prepared to elaborate on what gender PC would be able to romance them.

Both Cassandra and Cullen have shown only opposite gender attraction to date (Cassandra in DotS and Cullen in DAO) therefore it is only safe to assume at this point that Cassandra will be available to male PCs and Cullen will be available to female PCs.

Since the DA2 method of Playersexuality/Bisexuality hasn't been confirmed, only some romance fans have reason to be happy with the new news while others are still left wondering.

Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, but they made a point of announcing 2 LI's. This is a new tidbit of news for romance fans to get excited about. But since the two announced LI's have had previous noted attractions, it leads to Cullen and Cassandra fans who are interested in M/F romance to have confirmation, but the fans who are interested in M/M and F/F don't have that confirmation and are left up in the air.

I'm having a hard time determining exactly what benefits a confirmation like this would give you.

Really?

Knowledge.

It would let me know one way or the other if I can romance specifically Cullen as a guy or Cassandra as a girl.  Right now it's pretty safe to say they can be romanced by opposite gender, but not same gender.

Fans always want more knowledge, about anything.  How can I disassociate this request from any other request for information?  Or is it not any different?

It can be pretty much assumed that the LIs announced will be available to hetero pairings, since their history implies they were attracted to the opposite sex in the past. There's no clarification at all whether or not they have any interest in same sex pairings. Thus, people intending to romance on hetero paths actually know two available LIs and people intending to romance on a same sex path still basically know nothing.

Okay, you seem to be going down a different path than sandal.

So the issue is that the information provided is satisfying to other people, but provides no real satisfaction for yourself?

It's just that some people have confirmation while others do not.  Like I said, if they announced Viv and Solas as LI's, then no one would know who could romance them.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I'm not sure why this is bothering you.  My perspective cannot be one of a fan, because I know much much more than fans, so I'm literally struggling to understand.

Maybe you're not going down a different path than Mort after all, so I kind of touched on it with their response, but is it that you're disappointed that you feel that others benefit more from this piece of information than other people (including yourself)?

Well, it's that it's not really EQUAL information. Even if it was announced that Cullen and Cassandra WEREN'T available to the same sex, we'd at least know the same amount of information about the characters. I mean, it would be kind of disappointing. It would be NICE if you guys picked a set of bisexual characters first. At least we'd all have clarification, though. As is, we have a situation where part of the audience had a question answered and another part is still left guessing.

Just so I'm clear, you'd be more satisfied if it was confirmed that Cassandra and Cullen were exclusively heterosexual (this is NOT a confirmation of that)?  It certainly doesn't really strike me as "equal" information though?  I think that there'd certainly be some very upset people if that information was revealed....

At least I would know and it would be over with and I could move on to speculate about the other possibilities. I can't do that right now though.

So your concern is about wasting your time hoping to romance a particular character that ultimately cannot be romanced by you?

I think its more a long the lines that if they were heterosexual and that wouldn't change with time, it would be seen as unfair to think they could possibly romance the characters only to find out they weren't available to both genders.  As of now, it's not confirmed if Cassandra and Cullen can be romanced by the same sex while heterosexual romance is pretty confirmed because of their previous comments...though I also see your point in that in that position, it would also feel that a gay companion would also need to be revealed in that situation.

This is very much how I'm seeing it.  I feel as though the only way we could be fair in this regard, is if we specifically announced that they were bisexual and available for all (though those that would prefer more defined sexualities would be upset).  I'm not really convinced that announcing it would make the situation better....  At best it'd make some people content, but anger other people.

Lets turn this around: can people think of what benefits would come by not sharing this information yet?  (Disclaimer: I don't know why the information wasn't shared.  All I know is that it wasn't)

LOOOOL

I would just like to know if I (and others who like to play gay protags) can romance Cullen and Cassandra the same way that people who like to play straight protags know that they can romance them.

And if I can't then so be it. But at least I would know.

I appreciate your laughing at my attempts to try to understand and empathize with your position....

Lets look at it in a vacuum then.  Before today, you at best knew there'd be romances.  Today, you now know for certain two characters that can be romanced, that you did not know before.

Or worst case, assume the worst so you'll either be correct, or you'll be pleasantly surprised.  I'm not really interested in engaging along this discussion anymore so I'll just ask that people keep it civil.

I find it odd that the Bioware mod seems confused that some would like to know whether Cassandra and Cullen are Same-sex romance options.

My confusion stemmed from trying to understand the disappointment because, to me, the disappointment seemed to be that someone was unhappy that other people might be happier with the news.  The issue being that, regardless of what news we share, there's always going to be people that are happier with it than other people.

I can understand just fine that people want more information.  People always want more information.
