Not necessarily. I'm not worried about quality, coming from the DA writers with whom I have been very pleased. I trust them to give every romance, NPC or otherwise, the amount of time and quality it deserves.

Honestly the whole Iona thing for the Noble human thing, for me, was very quick and very well executed, it made me feel bad that she died so quickly, not the mention leave an child behind. And that was I think just a 15 min conversation. I mean sure she was acting a bit shy, and bashful, but it was nice and charming. It drew me in instantly. And I wanted to know about her more, then I found out, widower, mother of a girl, lives in an alienage. Ignoring potential sutoirs for working for a hand-maiden (yes I know doesn't technicly apply, just don't remember her offical title, maybe Lady-in-waiting?) To take care of her kid.

So its more about how the short period of time is handled. With companions it's more of a slow moving relationship. While with NPC characters it needs to be shorter but more intense. But as long as you can astablith the relationship quickly, It was also like Kelly Chambers with ME2, She was a flirt and very open.

I don't expect huge dramatic issues like with compaions. Tho, adding in little things like how they talk to eachother, does the demonir soften with eachother. Those sort of things can be done, and really its then subtext as to how the relationship is going.

Heck you can even add in jeliousy with the compaions, that they are able to be with she/him all the time and only small amount of time when back in base. Not to mention can have a least a choice of who you wanna be with confronting the Inquisitor.

Granted the issue is money and time not so much talent to do it, tho I would like to see a kind of soap opera like thing where the NPC is in near tears or in tears about the Inquisitor slowly moving away from them, (only if the Inquisitor is in an active relationship with the NPC)

If we don't get a same sex Cullen romance, we can always start lobbying in time for DA4!  :wizard:

Oh boy Cullen. I can hardly contain my excitement.

I really don't get the fuss over him. He's cute sure but what do we know about him? He's just some awkward fumbling guy who goes crazy in Origins and then in DA2 he's once again just some guy.I hope DAI will change my opinion on him. He's just never struck me as anyone interesting.

I find it odd that the Bioware mod seems confused that some would like to know whether Cassandra and Cullen are Same-sex romance options.

My purchasing this game depends on who my romance options are as a gay male. Press about gay romance brought me to Dragon Age: Origins - a game I had no interest in. I did not buy Mass Effect 1 even for 5 dollars until I found a same-sex romance mod.

*shrug* If Allen sees no value in sharing this type of information I will just hold on to my money until something is revealed.

Or Allen is not allowed to share it.

Also, you must not have many games if that is your criteria. Just saying.

Bioware confirmed it at their PAX East panel. During Q & A, I believe. There's a video recording floating around on tumblr (and somewhere on here as well, I am sure), if you're interested in the whole thing.

So what if (presumably) he doesn't have that many games? His criteria is his criteria. Do you look down on him for it?

Not at all. It wasn't a complaint or a put down. Just an observation on my part is all.

He can choose how to reply to the question and he could have just said so. Instead we get this awkward conversation about why people might want to know.

Now that I am older and generally work 70 to 80 hours per week I am a lot more selective with games. This year aside from DLC for games I already own, DA:I is the only game I might purchase this year. I much prefer more "modern" genres such as The Last of Us and Beyond: 2 Souls but have always made exceptions for Bioware games for their character development / voice acting / romances.

^ It means he (or she) doesn't believe you.

As for Allan, I can't believe that he doesn't already know the answer to his own question. It's pretty obvious that the presence of LGBT romance is a significant factor in attracting the LGBT fanbase that Bioware enjoys.

But LGBT gamers are also acutely aware that just because LGBT content has existed in the past doesn't make it's a guaranteed inclusion in the future. If Allan is somehow unaware of why assurance would be important to them, then he should avoid a career in business or marketing.

Well, I am being honest.

As for Allan, again he can be under an NDA and can't share no matter how much he can see it would help assure people.

This seems unneccessarily aggressive and insulting to a man who has been very open about his lack of first hand understanding of LGBT issues and who has been very vocally supportive of inclusion in the game.  Allan is an ally and we should treat him as such.

I also wouldn't buy DA:I if it didn't feature gay romance choices. I feel pretty confident that it will offer two choices for us, like it did last time and like some devs have implied they wanted to continue, but I admit I do get nervous when confirmation on this is shaky. When you're featured in very, very little it's not easy to just assume a franchise will continue to feature you. Especially when DA has been pretty good about this, but ME wasn't at all. I know Gaider said what his preference was, but one developer's preference as given on his own personal blog is not really official confirmation of anything.

Lord knows I play these games for the very same reasons you do. But I don't think you ever need to worry about that sort of thing, at least not with this DA development team. They have seen what these romances mean to people, and they are not gonna get rid of s/s romances any time soon.

I agree with this entire statement.  While we have no confirmation on s/s romances as of yet, I'm confident that they will offer equitable choices for gay and lesbian characters in DA: I.  If we were to ever to see any evidence that it won't be that, then perhaps I would start worrying.  But I don't see anything to suggest this at this point, so I'm going to continue to keep my faith in the devs on this matter.

The very last thing I want to do is drive Allan out the door, cause I really like the guy, and he f*cking makes an effort to interact with us on the forum when he certainly doesn't have to.

In fact, their stance seems to be spreading to the ME team, since they introduced homosexual characters in ME3.
