And some people wonder why some devs are wary to interact with the fanbase. *sigh*
You know, I was just thinking that. Allan is the only one that really interacts with us on a regular basis, and he's getting lambasted. Shame.

The very last thing I want to do is drive Allan out the door, cause I really like the guy, and he f*cking makes an effort to interact with us on the forum when he certainly doesn't have to.

Considering the low likelihood he had anything whatsoever to do with teh romances or the announcement jumping down his throat about it isn't fair.
In fact, their stance seems to be spreading to the ME team, since they introduced homosexual characters in ME3.
Yeah....it took ME a while, but I'd trust the DA team to hell and back with s/s romances. They have gone out of their way to promote options for everyone.

My main issue is hoping the s/s LIs aren't delegated to background NPCs like ME's were. Cause NPC romances do lose a little touch companion romances have.
I guess the one good thing about Cullen as the probable NPC romance is it means they wont be going ME's route of making the homosexual LIs NPCs if they go with 2/2/2.

If they go the NPC route with romances, which I do think Cullen very well could be, they'd opt to make them bisexual, like the rest of the companions. I see them sticking with the bisexual/playersexual characters for this entry into the series. I don't quite feel like they would go for the set sexualities yet in this game, but they could very well prove me wrong.

We could end up with the s/s exclusive options and the male LI for females end up NPCs.
...Sorry my inner cynic just had to say something.
Yeah, see? There's a positive. He might be bisexual (which would probably be the most equitable way to distribute them), but he's probably not gay! See? Progress!

I just don't feel like they would necessarily make him straight though.

People were talking about how Gaider's blog mentioned people perhaps being disappointed they couldn't romance X with their PC. That to me at least meant there would be some restrictions. I'm HOPING it's race but considering 70+% of players played human when given an option...I doubt it.
Edit: I think it was 80 percent. I forgot the numbers. Dwarves were 5% and elves I think were ~20%? I don't even think elves were that high. An overwhelming majority of players played human in DAO.
Class restrictions would be new though...but I'm sure the majority plays warrior and rogues so that's another issue...

I don't think they would necessarily go race restricting this time around....at least I hope not. I'd be hella pissed if IB was restricted cause I'm rolling a male human mage lol.
And just because Gaider said it was something he would like to try (I've read that blog post as well) doesn't mean that it will actually come to fruition in the game.

Personally I hope they keep that style indefinitely.

Well, he might be bisexual, but he's definitely not gay. Which means, if they have 4 companion LIs, they'd be the heter/homosexual ones of the 2/2/2. We know Cullen is at least bisexual, so we can be sure they wont be making the NPCs gay, as long as they have 4 companion LIs and 2 NPC LIs.
I think Cullen might be straight if he's a 5th extra and they don't do 2/2/2, like Sebastian was straight. Maybe they will do 5 bisexual/playersexual characters, though. It's possible that they will.

That would be unfortunate. ![]()

XD that would suck.
I don't believe the whole "people would be disappointed" was something he wanted to do intentionally. Sounded like a side effect. He also said people would say they were pushing an agenda which made me think all the LIs would've been bi again but again that disappointed they couldn't romance X with their character of choice made me go "...can't be."
Maybe the NPC romances are the m/f options and everyone else is companions? That would work with both disappointment and pushing an agenda bits.
My inner optimist I guess.
That would be unfortunate.
It would ![]()

I think they're gonna keep options equal, straight or otherwise, so it'll be an even number. Either 4 or 6.

I'd....actually really like a fully gay companion, but I don't think we're gonna get one. And I think they're just gonna stick with all bi characters.
I'd like them to keep the options open to everyone, just because I feel guilty if the girls don't get to romance someone they liked and I'm disappointed if they get someone I wanted. Like, DHMG (hopefully Dorian), if he were the gay or straight option. I would be SUPER disappointed if he was straight, but I'd also feel bad for all the girls that wanted him as a LI if he was gay. I just want everyone to get the option they want. ![]()

As do I. At the end of the day, I want people to be happy with their possible options, and to enjoy the romances.

Hm...I guess so it's just a feeling I have.

Pretty much. I just feel like, if they go with set sexualites, they are bound to disappoint a large number of people. A larger number than if they'd kept the 'playersexual' approach, it seems to me. Those people who are absolutely against 'playersexuality' to the point of saying they will enjoy the game less if it happens seem to be rather few in number.
They also seem to exist almost exclusively on this forum. Ever single person I've talked to in real life about this issue agreed that 'playersexuality' was definitely the way to go so everyone can be happy with their choice of LI. Might just be my perception, though. *shrug*

That seems to be a common view. Even people who hate DA2 with a passion admit that the playersexual concept was a Pro for DA2.
I knew they would be LIs a while ago. Tell us about Sera!
She's an elf.

I'm gonna commit one of the cardinal sins on the forum and say I think I remember something Gaider said once without linking anything ![]()
Wasn't one of the companions he wrote a character he always wanted to write. And wasn't there speculation that the character was Solas? So maybe he is a gay only option? (if that is in fact part of the reason Gaider has wanted to write that character to long?)
but obviously without links this is entirely speculative but hey! we have months to confirm it!
