Just an observation from events in TME, but I think bioware is possibly taking the city elves in a new direction. From comments made by Celene in regards to the CEs being Orlesian citizens to Briala's comment about claiming wluvians for the elves of Orlais, I am thinking they are gonna be taking the CEs in a nationalistic direction as opposed to an independent direction. It just seems to be the vibe I am getting from TME and such. Plus it will provide a further distinction between the plight of CEs vs the plight of the Dalish. Plus, I think the CEs becoming equal citizens is far more original and far more achievable. Anyway just a thought.

Well, the City Elves aren't really a united group.  They happen to be the lowest class in a human state, but a City Elf from Orlais compared to Nevarran City Elf has about the same difference as a human peasant from Orlais compared to a Nevarran human peasant.
:D

Yes, but everyone has been approaching the CE question as all the CEs joining together as opposed to being nationalistic in the countries they already live in.

It wouldn't be the first time everyone has been wrong. ^_^

But the CE do tend to share the same plight, so it is possible to get the feels for all of them.

Already made spoiler in title so no need for spoiler tags.

There is no CE inquisitor. Unless you mean future games.

It'd be such a great opportunity to be a City Elf so we can experience this shift, but we're stuck being Dalish.  :crying:

While we don't get Best Elf (as opposed to Mage or Dalish), we do at least get multiple races again, including Qunari, and we should be happy that we did. :)

If they hadn't added Qunari, the No City Elf news would literally guarantee no pre-order since it'd be like like "Yeah, we're bringing race options back...except the one you want."

They're lucky they added Qunari, or else the No City Elf news would literally guarantee no pre-order since it'd be like like "Yeah, we're bringing race options back...except the one you want."

They still have dwarf and human, and it is possible that the City Elves will return at a later date.  The appropriate stories for the Dalish and the City Elves are different; while the Dalish story is more about the past and attempts to rediscover it, the City Elves is about dealing with the present and their conditions.

Spoiler
I only hope to see the City Elves get a fair shake next time.

I know you said no spoilers, but I'm still feelin' em

Next game better have only City Elves available. It's only fair, after all.

The City Elves never have fair odds, they fight on anyway.

I meant for the players. If the City fans are stuck having to be Dalish this game, next game the Dalish fans better be stuck with having to be City.

We need to be better than the players of other factions. :/

Clings CE in DAO close "Don't worry you're a Teryn. They can't take that away from you. I hope."

Given that the Dalish epilogue went from :

In time, many of the Dalish clans moved to the new land provided for them in the south near Ostagar. Wary of their human neighbors, however, tensions soon rose again... and only Keeper Lanaya's leadership kept peace alive.

to failing horribly in DA:2, the City Elf epilogue should go from :

Resistance from humans saw a rise in violence in the city, however, which culminated in Shianni's murder by a human bigot several years later. The resulting riot in the Alienage forced a crack-down from the throne, a clear signal that the tension with the elves had not been resolved.

to achieving great success! :D

The warden being bann still bad but at least he/she doesn't end up dead.

With <FirstName/> as their new voice, the elves became prosperous in a way they had never known... enough to draw elves from nearby lands, desperate for real hope. The influx built ire among the human population and eventually resulted in a riot in Denerim, showing that as much as things change, they always stay the same.

oooh so that was the issue. More elves coming in. Makes sense. Also sounds like the PC probably ended the riot without Anora/Alistair having to get involved. Hopefully.

I don't see why both options shouldn't be made available in the future for the enjoyment of both groups, instead of wanting Dalish fans to suffer the same way CE fans are right now.

I'd think city elven loyalties would be complex and varied.

But I don't know if Briala is necessarily representative of city elves as a whole.  Most of their encounters with the human government are unlikely to be as pleasant.
