I'm basically devastated. All these feels. They built me up about Cullen and just let me fall back on down to the bottom the minute they confirmed Iron Bull, meaning GW is in, Cullen out. :/

Hey, hey, hey! Don't say that! Beardface is about as in as Cullen is. He's barely been mentioned by the devs, and just because he was first conceptualised as a warrior, doesn't mean they couldn't have changed him into a rogue in order to keep the party balanced should another rogue *coughColecough* been cut.

If he's just a romanceable NPC, then I would hope that they'll go about it better than ME3 did. I mean, in theory it could be that we get to talk and interact with him a lot to make up for not being able to take him out in the field.

That's the idea. The old thread is just there as a historical monument now.

Cullen - does he even have a definite class? Is he a rogue? I know everyone assumes "warrior" but there are some unlikely rogue NPC's in Dragon Age. Duncan for example. Wasn't he a rogue? Unsure. Why does Cullen have to be a warrior? Curious.

Grey Warden COULD just be a red herring they've used in concepts because Cullen would be giving too much away...

Edit: It does say on the wiki that he's a warrior.

It's assumed because he was a sword and board in DA2. (And a two hander in DA:O)

That's my thoughts. I did one of ME3's NPC romances (no dudes for my lonely lady Shep) and while it wasn't terrible, it lacked the feeling the other romances seemed to have. Although, that could be because the other romances had a build up over several games, but I think they could've been better overall. (That's my general consensus with ME3, actually.) More interactive dialogue would help, because a lot of Traynor's conversations were just my Shep standing beside her and listening to the auto-dialogue happen. Not good.

Can I just say, I'm outside trying to read replies and bees are trying to sting me. I hate spring! But anyways, potatoCat, that's a very good point. But I don't want to get my hopes up again so for now I'll be believe he isn't and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. I really hope if he's an NPC a better job is done with him than traynor and Cortez, though. :/

Well,to be honest so far we've seen him using a two handed sword(origins) and a S&S(DA2)...So yeah we can safely assume that so far he's been a warrior.

Oh man, people would blow a gasket. I doubt it, though. Too much effort, and Cullen was already in one of the arts.

I also hope we get an approval bar for him too. I don't want some sort of weird, hidden point system like the Quarian/Geth thing in ME3

Well my hopes for Cullen a companion just got shot down since IB is a warrior. -___- I tried the Traynor and Cortez romance and they didn't do anything for me.

Not to mention in concept art Beardy Grey Warden has a different character 'feel' and illustrated personality to what we know about Cullen.

Yay, we have a new home!  The old thread is going to look so sad and lonely :(  I'll still go back from time to time to pull up certain pieces of... art ^_^

I've been spreading the gospel of Cullen.  I think I've converted my sister to the cause.

What's important to me at this point is that the game will recognize a Cullen romance, unlike what they did for Sebastian or Tallis or Vega or whoever else I'm missing. If there's an emotional moment where my Inquisitor needs to be comforted, or even a kiss before the final battle of the game, these little things help to feel like they are actually in a relationship, ya know? A bit of companion banter about it doesn't hurt also  :P

I think we should be happy that we actually get to interact with him more now, and that he is a romance option , companion or not, to me that is a big improvement and I cant wait :)

If Cullen is just an NPC romance, his arse will have to wait until after my first playthrough. After all, getting to drag the LI through battle and see them react to events while right in the thick of it becomes part of the romance arc.  :wizard:

Edit: Don't get me wrong, though! I'm glad he's an LI and all. He'll just have to wait for his turn, because an NPC LI will definitely not be my first Inquisitor's romance arc.

Oh, I'll still go for Cullen on my first run. I just have to decide what class I'll go for. I hate playing a warrior, so probably an archer. Or maybe a mage.

Hee, romancing Cullen with a mage. We can do that now! And he can't run away! Er. For long!

[FLAILY HANDS] Yes please! Acknowledgement is one of my favorite things about doing a romance in Bioware games. Varric side-eyeing Anders was great. And the Zevran-Shale conversation about Zevran sleeping with the Warden is my favorite dialogue of all time. Give me some of that, and I will be pleased.
