I don't think it'd be that difficult to implement. They just need a really long cooldown. It doesn't have to replicate exactly the week duration of lyrium.
Hm,It's use could also temporarily boost the pc's abilities,that would be interesting.It'll also be nice if the player suffered penalties if they neglected taking it for too long,but I guess that would also be a little over the top for some.
I think that's also how it was done in DA:O, although I never played as one so I can't be sure.
