I'm actually glad that they took it this way. Granted, it does suck for those who won't be able to get who they want with a certain gender Inquisitor.

I would have been fine either way but yeah, I think I'm actually more content with the way they are going at it this time.

The whole nail-biting Cullen situation aside, I would be more content with it if I actually liked more than ONE of the potential male LI (again, putting Cullen aside here). That's a one in six chance of having a LI. In a BioWare game, those odds fcuking suck.

You and me both!

*fingers crossed* for Bisexual Cullen

I'm still disappointed in bioware for not having all playsexual romances, equal opportunity!

Was this confirmed?

I'm rather fond of having all of the romances be open to all protagonists because so many of the more "realistic" approaches seem to give straight females and gay males the short end of the stick, but if the devs have confirmed otherwise, well, so be it. I'll wait to see how it works out before I sharpen my pitchfork.

Who don't you like? We've seen precious little of the characters. Is it based on physical characteristics? Some of those may change prior to release. I mean, the mustache is probably there for good, and I doubt they'll put hair on Solas despite fan outrage over his baldness, but Cullen and Varric are the only ones we've met, and history has shown that prior knowledge of a character does not necessarily translate into the next game.

But I do understand your anxiety.

Yeah, either ML or MD confirmed it via Twitter. I thiiiink it was ML.

I don't like the look of any of them except Mr. Beardy lol And Cole doesn't count, of course. But I don't like Varric, Dorian, Solas, or IB. I mean I don't like their looks. I can't see myself romancing them. BUT as I always say, I'm sure they will be great characters. Don't have to romance a character to love them. And I'm sure the game will be awesome, and the storyline will be blow me away, and I'm already so in love with my inquisitor. But it just sucks if I don't get to romance anyone, because, c'mon, it's a BW game! It's all about the romance :P

In principle I like the idea of non-playersexual romances because when I played my first Bioware game last summer (KotOR), part of what blew me away was the fact that there were actual differences involved in playing as a woman (compared to games I'd played in HS and middle school where if it was even available it was just window dressing), and the majority of those differences in ME and DA have had to do with the romances. But I'm saying all this with the privilege of knowing that the DAI LI I'm most excited about is into women, so I understand where people are coming from.

To be fair, there were differences in DA2 as well (whether you romanced a companion as a male or female). For example, Merrill brings up children with a BroHawke but not FemHawke, and vice versa for Anders.

True, and that's a fair point to make. I'm kinda not as worried about my LI options, cause Dorian seems to be the big bet on the gay LI, and thus I'm don't care so much about an all bi LI approach.

I somehow thought about Red Lyrium today and wondered if the Templars are the only ones that are "abusing" it's power or if there are Refuge Mages that are also using it to save their loved ones. Not sure how the Mages would be able to get it, unless they stumbled across  a vein by accident.

Yeah, husbands work BBQ's get me thinking, good thing I have kids and was able to excuse myself early ..... damn social life!

Yeah, like in ME3 I was pretty cool with it because both my Shep's options were hot, lol!!

One day I need to get around to doing a FemShep playthrough (of the whole trilogy) and I'm kinda annoyed my only f/f option is Liara. I love Liara, but she is the Varric of ME to me... the BFF. Wish FemShep could romance Jack or Miranda.

It probably depends. The idol was more or less "refined" red lyrium, I think, similar to processed lyrium potions, hence why a mage Hawke had no problem. However, I do believe the unrefined red lyrium could be nearly as fatal to mages as the blue version.

It would be great to know what red lyrium actually DOES -- other than make you go batshit crazy  Of course after reading R2's fic I'm a little freaked out about it...!

Lyrium is fatal to mages? I thought it boosted magic?? Isn't that why we chug lyrium as mages to bring back stamina? (I'm really bad with lore, apologies.)

It was initially in an interview with Cameron Lee, but as Artemis said, Mark Darrah went into a bit more detail on Twitter.

Lyrium potions are considered processed and refined. Lyrium, like in lyrium veins, the pure and raw mineral, is fatal to mages. It leads to severe internal hemorrhaging. It was described as the shock of absorbing so much energy from the lyrium, which leads to death.

I got INFJ ^^ I actually tried too different test sites for it and got it from both. I think some parts of it's are accurate to me and some as much. I found the romance part it had most different than what I feel like I am XD This is very true for me too: "Even though their presence can be described as very quiet, INFJ personalities usually have many strong opinions, especially when it comes to issues they consider really important in life".

I got that too. The only thing I remembered from the description is something about us being able to change the world with our dreams, and I thought, "OMG, I'm a mage!!!!"

Re: Cullen and a romance with a blood mage. I can see the possibility, actually. For example, Cullen falls in love with a mage, and he deeply cares about her, but then he discovers she can do blood magic. He will freak out, no doubt, but if he really loves her, then I can see him trying to convince her to stop using blood magic. Because it a self-destructive path, and it's dangerous, and he wouldn't want to lose her to demons. If she says, "Ok, I'll try, but I need your help (manipulative little b****)" then Cullen will probably stay in relationship with her to support her, and do what a templar must do - make sure she's not a danger to anyone, including herself. However I can't see this being implemented in a game, but it could work in a fanfic. It could be interesting.

Oh I see. I think I knew this but just forgot  I wonder how they "refine" it. Wait, that's what the dwarves do, correct? They refine the lyrium then sell it to the templars and mages. And dwarves can touch lyrium au naturale and not be killed, but over time it does make 'em nuts.

Yes, I'm an INFJ. It means we're quiet, judgmental bitches

I am as well! And I saw your comment and was like "...WTH is up with that broad, sweeping generalization" and then realized that I was just confirming what you said. ;)

Yup. That's us.

Well you might want to do the test that it has though if you have time ^^;: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

I don't think anyone is exactly their type since every person is different but I find INFJ to have many similar qualities I have XD

I'm late. So laaaaaaate.

I'm an INTP, apparently!

Edit:

Took it again and got INFP, so  think I toe a line here. Which I think works best, really, because I don't feel I -- or anyone, really -- fits so neatly into a box like that.  :wizard:

I feeling it.

Forming around 7% of the population, people with the ENFP personality type tend to be curious, idealistic, and often mystical. They seek meaning and are very interested in other people’s motives, seeing life as a big, complex puzzle where everything is connected. Not surprisingly, ENFPs tend to be very insightful and empathic individuals. This, plus their charm and social skillz, often makes them very popular and influential.

Hey, they said it, not me.

So what are you if you're a loud judgmental ****** instead of a quiet one?

Anders!

Trying to get back to Cullen, how long do you think it takes him to shave, and style his crazy hair to look so pretty? If it takes more than an hour, my Inquisitor will tease him for his vanity, and obsession with his good looks. She's a mean little thing.

Is it silly that I hope it takes him a ridiculously long time to get ready in the mornings? He just seems such a perfectionist. I love the idea of him having this structured routine. Maybe he runs in the mornings, enjoying the briskness of a jog before the sun comes up. The he returns to his quarters and bathes, taking great care to clean behind his ears and between his toes. His shave is to perfection with the aid of a straight edge, one he polishes clean once he's done. Then he dresses with great care and detail, ensuring each polished piece of armor and pressed fabric is perfectly in place.

Yeah, my Quizzy would be rolling.
