Is anyone excited about the DAI artbook coming out on August 7th?! Are you going to buy it and possibly spoil yourself? I know I will! hehe

 

I hope some glorious images of Cullen are in it!

Am I excited? HOLY CRAP YES! Am I going to buy it? I NEED TO BUY IT! I pre-ordered the artbook, as soon as it came out! And if we get some Cullen art in that book, I will be over the moon. I need that book. Anything that Bioware releases is like my own personal brand of crack.

I am a Bioware Addict. Maybe we should start a support group?

 

We can support each other by swooning over the artbook together, haha! I have a feeling at least one picture of Cullen will be in the book because the description of the book says it will have all the companions in there and I imagine the advisers as well.

I'll order the book, but considering how long it takes for Amazon to ship anything to my country, it will arrive just about time the game comes out. So I won't be spoiled! The art book won't be out until sometime in September/October (the dates keep changing) so you won't need to worry about it being spoiled early.

on amazon uk the release date is October 9th...

I want to buy the art book. And I will undoubtedly buy a strategy guide, if they release one, and read it cover to cover before I even fire up the game. I don't care about spoilers. I will cherish the heartbreak even more if I know when it's going to happen in advance.

 

The only thing that will stop me from buying either is the fact that I have already spent way, way too much money. I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition when it was announced... and then I pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition, too. That's a lot of coin, as Isabela would say.

I somehow thought about Red Lyrium today and wondered if the Templars are the only ones that are "abusing" it's power or if there are Refuge Mages that are also using it to save their loved ones. Not sure how the Mages would be able to get it, unless they stumbled across  a vein by accident.

Mmm, good point! The Red Templars can't be the only ones to sneak down there and take a gander at the source of red lyrium. *cough*Grey Wardens*cough*

Agree. They talk about it a bit in WoT, how it works on anyone, not just mages. 
 

RED LYRIUM
A more potent form of lyrium, red in color, was recently discovered in the Deep Roads. Its strength is such that possessors may be imbued with magiclike power, regardless of whether or not they are a mage. Contact comes at a cost, however, as the greater power presents greater dangers. Red lyrium’s potency is such that it corrupts all minds eventually, even normally resistant dwarves.

Red lyrium was first found during an expedition into a long uninhabited thaig in 9:31 Dragon. The infamous Champion of Kirkwall, known as Hawke, led the expedition into the Deep Roads near Kirkwall, and discovered giant veins of the mineral pushing through cavern walls from some unknown source. An idol carved from the red lyrium was brought to the surface.

The discovery played an important role in the templar-mage crisis in Kirkwall six years later. Templar Knight-Commander Meredith Stannard, already hostile towards mage activity in the city state, used red lyrium to gain the strength to take on a mage rebellion following a rogue mage’s destruction of the local chantry. It appeared as through the power of the lyrium corrupted Stannard’s mind. She was killed in an ensuing battle with Hawke.

Not sure if you guys will be interested in this or not, but I wrote a companion piece for my Page 1000 short story from the Inquisitor's perspective. It's more about her than about Cullen (although of course Cullen is in it! ) but it gives a little insight into the character and her background if anybody is curious about Cullen's rescuer from "Refuge."

I thought so too. Amazon has the release date as October 7th. But Dark Horse has the publication/release date as August 7th. That is why I changed my order from Amazon to Dark Horse.

Wasn't there a mistake with the date on amazon too at first, but then fans asked BioWare about it, and they told Amazon to fix the date? I remember something like that on twitter. Maybe Dark Horse haven't fixed their info yet?

August 7th was the mistake date that came out when it was announced I believe. It was always intended to come out the same day as the game. :3

I also super want it! It will look pretty on my book shelf! D: I hope it's a large book so I might scan some of the images for my computer desktop.

What!?! Oh, I am so changing my Amazon order to one from Dark Horse. Even if it is a mistake, better to be safe than sorry, right? If there is even a chance that I can get it in August, then I am so taking that chance. Besides, if it is a mistake, then it doesn't really matter who I order it from anyway. As long as I get my book, I am happy. 

FWIW, when World of Thedas came out, the Dark Horse site was always the last to update when the pub date changed a little. Based on all that, I wouldn't assume they're the "most correct." If you're changing preorders, I'd wait to hear from the Horse's mouth first.

I found this interesting. I'm on the side of loving the characters in Origins because they were extremes. I do have to agree that Morrigan did get annoying whenever I tried to do anything though. Just easier to leave her at camp because of that.

Whoa. I wonder if I played the same game as Bertz. And that may very well be the first time I have ever heard Shale described as having zero personality.

 

But I will agree with his views on Wynne and Leliana, though.

Shale having no personality? Really?  O_o The conversations I had with Shale were nothing short of hilarious. No matter how many times I play Origins I always bust out laughing at Shale's description of the mage's wife. ("Hag.") as well as the cutscene at the end of "The Stone Prisoner" where Shale encounters the chicken.

 

Classic moments, both.
