Derp! Right. Well, sounds like it's probably not canon since it's a deleted scene. Or perhaps the rules change when you're repopulating a completely decimated branch of the Grey Wardens??

I'd imagine there are many exceptions when the Grey Wardens have been almost destroyed in a particular area/country. Probably would seem like a waste to turn away people who wish to be Grey Wardens who are mages even though you really need the numbers.

Or they forgot/changed their mind. lol

I think I'd have more saves like that if it weren't for the fact that the game doesn't consider the romance ever happened in the import or epilogue. The Keep might change that, and if Alistair has a major part to play in Inquisition, it could be brought up, but who knows, (other than maybe Socks and Lola, lucky, Keep beta testing...)

Omg, what if we meet him at the ball?  Possible Mask of the Empire spoilers

Ooo, that sounds like it would have been a good ending.  Unfortunately I was so angry I deleted that save and went back a good 10 hours of gameplay so that I could harden him  :D

*snip*

I think he's sort of detached himself at this point </3 eurgh Alistair, stop bringing up feels that I really don't want  :crying:

This is just heartbreaking  :(

I swear, they MUST have based Alistair's eye colour on Steve's.  Eurgh, his wife is a lucky woman.

I'm hoping Cullen's matches it though.

Haha, at first I thought you were saying you hope DAI Cullen has the same golden-brown eye color as Alistair and I was like "nooooo! The hazel is the one thing I like better in DA2!" But I agree, I've got high hopes for Cullen's romance to top Alistair's. (Or Carth Onasi's, which is the benchmark for me--its shortcomings relative to the others in terms of depth and content were balanced out by the fact that I didn't know to expect a romance at all and was taken completely by surprise.)

I'm hoping Cullen's matches it though.  It depends on how they go about it seen as he's most likely an NPC, but if it makes me cry with joy (Alistair was actually the first to make me cry like that.  Gaider what have you done to me?!) then I'll be flippin' ecstatic haha.

I think the reason that Alistair was so perfect was because he was literally designed to be the perfect LI and romance for female players. At least, that's what I've read.

As for Cullen's romance stacking up against Alistair's, I'm thinking his chances are pretty good, so long as we're not expecting him to be perfect and stuff. My current theory is that Gaider is writing him, which is why he was announced alongside Cassandra, because they have the same writer, and he does have particular knack for romances. At least in my opinion.

Then he dies. Granted I put Anora on the throne to rule alone, ain't no fancy Orlesian ruining my Ferelden! Hm, I wonder if that means the Alistair and/or Anora (depending on who's ruling) will be at the ball? Probably neither, but you never know.

I'm just concerned that the npc romances won't match up to the companions simply because we won't get the same bonding experience that we get from taking the characters out on the road with us.

I kinda doubt it. Why would they bring in the Ferelden monarch while they are conducting a Civil War? That's like asking the Ferelden people to try and invade while Orlais is weak.

Indeed. Celene had a relationship with Cailan, but that's long since out the window.

I bet Teagan and Isolde will be there!

Now, I could see Teagan being there, but I think we will see Alistair and/or Anora in Ferelden itself.

They didn't have a relationship, there were plans of one to unite Ferelden and Orlais and become a power house but Celene didn't particularly want to and in the book it was suggested that she hadn't really planned to go through with it anyway, which didn't really matter cos he died anyway.

Oh definitely, but from past experience, I do have more faith in the DA team than the ME team. I'm hoping the NPCs get some banter like those in ME3 around the Normandy. Just hopefully branching out socially a bit more than they did, since most usually kept to their own little cliques in their part of the ship. Maybe DA2 wpuld be a better example when you'd activate a scene with Fenris and he's already talking with Isabela. Just better, and less of the catching just the tail end of the conversation. Anything to make up for the lack of traditional party banter, which for me can make or break how I feel about a companion. Like, I didn't like Wynne's Warden conversations, but I thought her banter was some of the best in the game.

I meant as in a "working relationship", as in they were communicating to one another.

I haven't actually read the books (hence the mash up in the title) but from what I've picked up it seems that one of them is more keen to take Fereldan back than the other.

What was the actual information about this elven assassin at the Ball? Unless I dreamt it, I think it was on the DAI website, which just doesn't work on my iPad.

Well, they said there would be hardly any ambient dialogue so it'll definitely be different to ME3 where the characters moved rooms from time to time to chat.

Oh Maker, that man is utter perfection.

I honestly don't think any other romance option in any game past, present or future will ever top Alistair's romance arc for me.

Oh tell me about it. That fool. :) Never in any game I've ever played has the writing and the voice acting come together to make such a perfect, perfect character and romance arc.

Maybe it'll be done in the same way that party banter will happen in DAI where we can join in?
