How the hell how I reached my "like" quota when I haven't even been on here properly since last night?!

I think each like is on its own 24 hours reset timer. It explains why I seem to get mine back in small doses when I go over.

Only the big YouTubers and people that are in with the devs, lol. I might have to uninstall Twitter from my phone for the next 24 hours to avoid all the spoilers.

Don't worry, I'll keep all shirtless Bigby spoilers out of the thread this time!

My guess is that the romance arcs will be much like their story arcs in that it'll be event based, so you can progress to a certain point but then it goes no further until you've reached a milestone in the game or done a quest that is of interest/importance to their plot etc. That's probably the best way to go about it really, DA2 done it to a lesser extent but due to the time limit it was never implemented as well as it should have been.

I think that's be the perfect way to go about it, just like a sort of bridge between Origins and DA2, even if we could just talk about the things that are going on like we did in origins whilst we're working towards hitting each point where we can have a more in-depth conversation with them.  I'm really looking forward to the emotion wheel though, especially if we get to react to the things our LI, or even anyone, says to us.  I want my Inquisitor to break down at points and possibly have her LI, or even any of the companions comfort her.

Yeah, have all the big interesting/important conversation(s) that progress the relationship to the next stage occur after/just before a plot heavy quest/event (ala DA2, but better) and then in between those times you'd get your regular DA:O conversations about mundane topics, their thoughts on the current situation/event, their likes/dislikes, stories about their past, comments about an action you took in a quest you've just come back from, and general chit-chat. So it's like the best of both games.

Absolutely.  It'd be great just to spend some time at Skyhold just getting to know the people you're fighting alongside or fighting for, then going back at a later date and asking them what they thought about a decision you made, or if you were rude to them by just walking away they can confront you about it, though I think that last part may be pushing it a bit, but still.  I love the characterisation of all the characters in DA.  The writing team really do a great job making them all unique and making the characters able to rile you up (*cough* Vaughn *cough*) or just make you burst out laughing.

If you think about it, the romance content for each LI isn't that much when you separate it from the characters story arc and entire dialogue. Take Alistair for example, when romancing him it feels like it starts from the minute he and the Warden meet, but it doesn't really. Hell, you can do his entire romance before you even leave Lothering if you ply him with gifts! It's the accumulation of meeting a character and interacting with him/her, learning about them, adventuring with them and sharing the experience with them from start to finish that makes the romance feel "epic".

Perhaps that's where DA2's romances fell short with me personally because straight off the bat we could flirt with them, we couldn't really build up to it or get to know them as acquaintances and then friends like you would in real life/could in DA:O. At times it felt inappropriate to have the option to flirt with them at all, like right after Karl died with Anders' first quest, lol!

Right, I'm going radio silent on Twitter so that I don't get any Wolf Among Us spoilers ruined for me. Could you guys try to avoid talking about TWAU in here altogether (not even under spoiler tags because I have no self control, lol).

I'll still be in the thread posting and stuff, so if any new DAI news comes out via Twitter can you guys post it up in here asap so that I can gather it all up for my videos without needing to use Twitter to grab it. Ta!

I felt the same about DA2 as well.  I suppose jumping straight into it right after Origins didn't really help it's case much, though I did enjoy it.  With Anders I feel like I would have loved to have spoken to him a bit, do some consoling and the like before showing an interest him.  I think it would've been amazing just to get to know them all as time went on, having conversations that didn't seem like they abruptly ended in the middle of something meaningful or like you were being excused.

I'm quite thankful that in my first playthrough of Origins that I didn't know I could do that with the romances.  When they said "...right we should probably carry on now." I left it at that until we went back to camp or something.  I was really confused in my second playthrough when I discovered how truly powerful the bits of cake my dog would find were

Holy dammit, that's really great! :D

I'm gonna make this my desktop, I think. Maybe it will distract me from this thing I have going with Nathaniel Damn Howe. I need rescued. :P

Well, you have the option to take that flirt but you don't have to. You don't have to flirt with anyone in Act 1. So if you want, you could wait to get to know the companion before beginning a flirtation in Act 2.

I'll agree that the Anders flirts often seemed inappropriate though lol And his romance does indeed feel rushed. Partially because he's so ready and willing lol You flirt with him in Act 1, and he's like YES! Let's do this NOW! I mean, whoa boy! We just met! Fenris' romance is better (for me) because he keeps holding his hands up and saying, um, not just yet, okay? So it's more organic.

I think Isabela's romance plays out really well, too, since after you sleep together, she acts like it meant nothing, then she disappears in Act 2, and when she comes back it's such a sweet surprise! Then feelings happen in Act 3 lol

I think it was Anders lack of Act 3 romance stuff that made his romance so blah for me. I mean it basically ends in Act 2.

That is true. I mean, I get why, sort of. Anders was far far too focused on his goal to worry about Hawke, but the romantic in my would have loved a little more.

I've only romanced Fenris once, and I have to say, his goodbye kiss before the big fights both took me by surprise and thrilled me to death. That was pretty great. :)

If it was Vivienne,I might have forgiven him.

I'd like them to have at least one different outfit they can change into for different occasions,at least.

I do sort of get why they did it, but I think it would have been great (in an angsty kind of way) if we had seen him sort of pushing Hawke away. Also the photos of what Anders was supposed to look like before it was cut could have played a big part because it actually shows him losing himself to Vengeance.

The Fenris romance is beautiful. Well-paced, touching, and very rewarding. Usually when someone says they were disappointed with DA2 romances I can guess with 95% accuracy that they 1. romanced Alistair in DA:O, and 2. romanced Anders in DA2  It's like clockwork.

Preach it, sister! I fell in love with a Fenris romance as a mage. It was really, really well written, and I liked how it was a story of healing.

This may be true of Fenris fans. It is *not* 95% accurate.

There are a lot of people who are *not* disappointed with DA2 romances who romanced Alistair in DAO and Anders in DA2. I am so, so, so very sick of hearing people say how sh!tty the Anders romance is. It isn't. You just don't like it. FWIW, if I had romanced Alistair in DAO and Fenris in DA2, I would not be anywhere near as satisfied with the DA2 romances as I was, but then, that's the one DA2 romance I just can't do. I love the character, but the romance leaves me cold.

The problem I had, especially the first couple of playthroughs was that I didn't know that we didn't have to take those flirts. I wasn't sure when the cut off point was so I was like "****, I better take it!" I'd just prefer the option for flirting to not be there until it feels right for the scene/situation and only after we've made friends with them.

I just hope our inquisitors get a happy ending with Cullen in DAI, the Anders romance was a tragedy all round for me- even if Hawke let him survive, he/she still knew that Anders had lost himself along the way.

Even if from a story perspective a tragic ending would be awesome, there would just be too many feels.

I can just see it now :(, Cullen has finally told my inquisitor he loves her when the keep is attacked by the red templars. The inquisitor is trapped under rubble as they pour in, totally helpless and can only watch as they begin to overwhelm the keep. One of the lyrium creatures moves in to finish her off-its huge and powerful. Cullen realises that the only way he can match it is by ingesting red lyrium himself and does so, defeating the creature, mortally wounding himself in the process. He crawls over to the inquisitor and attempts to free her even as he is bleeding out. The rest of the companions arrive just a little too late, gathering in the doorway to find the inquisitor crying silently, holding him in her arms as he passes away.

I really really don't want a tragic ending :( I'm sad just thinking about it.

I can't play through without my Hawke romancing Fenris, I just can't leave him all sad and hurting and alone! I loved Anders as a character, and I thought he was very powerfully written as he slipped slowly from Hawke's grasp, Justice/Vengeance taking over, but I just find it too bittersweet to put my Hawkes through that kind of torment!
