The problem I had, especially the first couple of playthroughs was that I didn't know that we didn't have to take those flirts. I wasn't sure when the cut off point was so I was like "****, I better take it!" I'd just prefer the option for flirting to not be there until it feels right for the scene/situation and only after we've made friends with them.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure out that you didn't have to take the early flirts, too. And I wasn't crazy about having to make the first move right after Anders had to shank his lover. After a while, I started leaving a long, long time between finishing Tranquility and doing the Talk to Anders quest.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure out that you didn't have to take the early flirts, too. And I wasn't crazy about having to make the first move right after Anders had to shank his lover. After a while, I started leaving a long, long time between finishing Tranquility and doing the Talk to Anders quest.

I once tried to romance Anders on my second playthrough, I am unsure if it was because I knew what was coming, or if it was something else, but sh!t just got weird around Act 2, so I nope'd the hell out of there.

I was fine until after the bedroom scene when basically the options were "I love you, you should move in forever and ever and ever" or "it's over". There was no, "look, you're nice and all, but seriously, moving in after one night? Can't you just start by leaving a toothbrush?" or "We're living life on the edge trying to stop an impending social catastrophe and I'm not ready for that level of commitment"

It was full on, but I felt it was very in-character for Anders. Plus, I guess they had been close and flirty for years by that point, so while to us it feels like the relationship just moved at 100 miles an hour, in-game it had been something that had been building up for years.

I know exactly what you mean; having to tell Fenris that ripping the tatttoos from his dying body would be "a waste of a perfectly handsome elf" is one of the WORST flirt lines in the history of flirting!!! But I picked it every time because I was afraid that if I didn't I would blow the romance lol UGH!

I can't play through without my Hawke romancing Fenris, I just can't leave him all sad and hurting and alone! I loved Anders as a character, and I thought he was very powerfully written as he slipped slowly from Hawke's grasp, Justice/Vengeance taking over, but I just find it too bittersweet to put my Hawkes through that kind of torment!

 

If I want to romance Anders, I have to not recruit Fenris Thank god for the Keep or I'd never be able to import an Anders romance!

 

Well for the Anders friendship pro-mage "us against the world" romance, I felt it wasn't really tragic at all. When he blows up the Chantry, and my Hawke was basically like, "OMG That was so rad!" (methinks Xander Hawke had some pyro tendencies, oh, and also the mind of a 15 year old delinquent), Anders just lit up like a xmas tree lol It was a happy ending in my book.

Yeah, I think it didn't help that the flirt lines were cheesy as all hell regardless of the dominant personality tone. I mean, if Hawke had said something A LOT more subtle in response then it wouldn't have been so bad. It's a shame, because when people think of the heart/flirt icon it instantly conjures images of inappropriate chat up lines, lol.

I'm a bit of a commitmentphobe in my own life, and I think a lot of that crosses through to the characters I play. My partner basically subtly moved in with me over the course of many months, by the time I realised he'd stopped going home it was too late  ! If he'd have asked outright I'd have done a Cinderella and run awaaaay  which is probably rather silly really.

Man, the DA2 LIs all lived in dumps. You kind of felt like an ass if you didn't ask them to move in, lol! But I know what you mean.

He started off just by leaving his tooth brush because "he kept forgetting to bring one with him" and then occasionally I'd find clothes he'd left behind, DVD's that he'd brought over to watch and forgotten to take home. Then he started staying more nights during the week and offered to help me with the shopping, and eventually he just stopped going home. There was just sort of one day after about three or four months of this where I turned around and realised that he was basically living with me full time it was very clever of him really

I liked all the DA2 romances, i didn`t loved it but i liked it ( i prefer the DAO romances, but only because i connected better with the DAO characters, if it makes any sense, and yes Alistair is my fav  ). In DA2 arc romance there where bits i loved and others where i was just  . Thinking about it i would loved a romance with Anders first kiss, Isabella sex scene, Merrill´s cuddling and Fenris last kiss  ! (edit: with just one character not with all four of them  )

I liked all the DA2 romances, i didn`t loved it but i liked it ( i prefer the DAO romances, but only because i connected better with the DAO characters, if it makes any sense, and yes Alistair is my fav  ). Somehow I liked relationships more in DA2, especially the scenes and dialogues. I think they just felt more private, maybe because they also happened in the homes of LI's or Hawke's mansion, not just in the camp XD

The one memory that stands out for me during my first ever DA2 playthrough was getting to the part in Anders clinic where he first kisses Hawke and says that infamous line: "I've laid awake every night for the past 6 (or however many) years aching for you" and I got only the faintest feeling of butterflies in my stomach, like hardly at all. I was really disappointed because I'd wanted the romance arc to blow me away in the same way that Alistair's had for me in DA:O, but it didn't, lol.

I loved the ambience of the camp in DA:O, but it was very impersonal during romantic and sexytime scenes. I would've liked it if the LI had taken the Warden for a walk away from camp when it came to romantic encounters and stuff.
