Hey all! I haven't checked in in a little while but I am doing good! I just saw the tweet from Mike Laidlaw and I half trust it because it isn't David Gaider posting it, who would definitely troll us poor fans haha. Anyways, I have a feeling NPC romances will be handled better in DAI better than ME3 if simply because this is the second time Bioware is doing them so they have a bit of practice at what works and what doesn't.

 

Off topic, I ordered a bunch of cute Disney goodies from the Japan Disney Store so does anyone want to see a picture of them when they come in? The Disney store in Japan is so much better than anywhere else. Anyone else want to squee over cute things with me? haha

I've been away a few weeks consumed by Dark Souls 2. I guess it's time for me to start paying attention again with E3 right around the corner hehe.

We can only hope! I am thinking the NPCs will be a bit more involved in DAI because they are military advisers and not just managing Skyhold but rather our whole Inquisition.

Soooo, if this multi-region, expansive, heavily-Cullen-centric quest is real then I'd presume that it would happen in bits and pieces throughout the game, rather than one chunk. Like, we complete the first part of it, carry on with other quests, then Cullen contacts us again with more "intel" about the situation and we head off to do the second part and so on, that way we wouldn't blast through his romance/story arc in a blaze, lol.

I've always liked Laidlaw. Especially the beard. So for that completely rational reason I'm taking a chance and trusting him not to troll us.

 

If he's really telling the truth then Cullen seems to be having a much bigger role than I had asumed from his NPC status! That makes me super hopeful. I did like the NPC romances in ME3 but they did seem much smaller and less deep in scale than the companion romances. I think the only part of ME3 NPC romances/ plots that might be closely on scale with what Laidlaw tweeted is perhaps the part that Cortez plays in the Leviathan DLC. I won't spoil anyone on it but he has a small role in severall different areas/regions that you visit during the DLC. Although considering how big DAI is going to be compared to ME3 then perhaps Cullen's content will be on scale with that and we will get more involvement than with Cortez.

 

I'm also hoping (much like LolaLei wrote) that his story will be scattered through out the game and not simply be one (big) mission after which he just sits around the keep etc. I could easily see him providing us with info about areas we need to look into and then coming with us to advice us on the road. Perhaps not for every quest related to information he's been giving us but for some.

 

I'm also hoping he wouldn't be very removed from everything else other than his own plot and quests. Even if it's a bit of dialogue here and there it would be nice if he showed an active interest in the main plot and the things we were doing. And speak up about his opinions about our actions even if he wasn't there with us when they happened.

Yeah, I'm also hoping that he'd actually come with us on his quest(s) rather than waiting in the Skyhold or at our camps/strongholds.

I'd think so as well cause if it's one chunk and it's really big.. like 5+ hours long lol then it'd be like Act ?: Cullen XD I wouldn't mind it but I think there would be many who would. I'm just dying to have one Cullen centric quest similar to loyality quest in ME2 and I was so happy about this info

This could be fun We could always miss him just by hours everywhere and when we finally find him the inquisitor will be all hot tempered about it and Cullen will be like "What-who-me?"
