Not that I dont appreciate seeing my family, and it has been a whole year, but why in the world did I pick that week?
All I can say is, I hope 4G has arrived in the area
As much as I say I want to know everything, I do want to go in with a few questions, and I think Lola's method would be brilliant for that
I'd like a simple character entry for each companion and advisor. A brief overview of who we are to expect them to be as people.
Preferably accompanied by awesome screenshots.
This ^. This is the first time i know things about a game before playing it, for the other games i didn`t even now who were the companions. So as much as i want to be spoiled about some things ( cause i`m really excited about this game) i also don`t want to be spoiled about major stuff like story and companions plot. Knowing their names, their looks and a brief overview is enough for me. (I just hope i`m strong enough to resist big spoilers if they`re released
)

Haha, the main temptation for me will be coming on here after the game is released on the 7th in certain lucky countries
oh dear, I'm going to struggle haha ![]()

Same. I didn't have any prior knowledge about DA:O, and with DA2 all I'd played was the demo the night before the game came out so DAI is the first Dragon Age game where I know enough to at least not accidentally miss out any of the companions, lol! Of course, the impatient part of me wants to know ALL the things, but the rational part of me knows that I wouldn't want to ruin the story or the characters story/romance arcs. All I really want is a close up of Cullen's face and a demo of the CC.

Yeah. All I want to know before I actually play is romance options and my spell trees, nothing more.

3 more days to wait
! I think i`ll try to avoid the forum in those days, but you right, i´m going to struggle too ![]()
LOL I always thought that was an unwinnable battle, so I never succeeded. Like with SerCauthrien. I sucked at DA:O. LOL
I'm shamelessly proud of myself, because I pwned all the bosses on nightmare, including Andraste, Cauthrien, and the Harvester, and my background is completely non-violent Lucas Arts and Sierra adventure games. It must be the grey warden training! ![]()
"Therinfal Redoubt." I keep reading that as "Theirin Fall" as in Alistair Theirin, and it's kinda disturbing. I don't know if it's intentional obfuscation, if they ran out of names, or what, but I can't read it without wincing.
I've misread that too at first, and assumed that was something from the time when Orlais occupied Ferelden, but looks like this place is much older.
*snip* *Insert something small about his general personality, like his strength or will or whatever and a quick sentence about being the leader of his militant faction*"
I need to know these things so baaaadly! ![]()
Yeah. All I want to know before I actually play is romance options and my spell trees, nothing more.
I'll give them that, they've been pretty good at avoiding any major spoilers. Cameron probably shouldn't have mentioned about the big bad coming to kick our arse, I think I would've preferred that to be a surprise because now I'll know to prep for it, LOL!

Oh yes, I need to know how the spells work, and how the stats work, and how the specs work, to start modelling a perfect build that I can also RP the way I want ![]()

I believe if the Big Bad comes to kick our asses, it will do it when we won't expect it despite that warning. Like, during the love scene.
Inquisitor: I'VE JUST HAD SEX!!!
Cullen: Maker's breath, no need to shout about it!
Inquisitor: ![]()
Cullen: I lo----
Big Bad: NOBODY EXPECTS THE BIG BAD! My chief weapon is surprise!
Inquisitor: Hey you, that's my line!
Big Bad: I'll take everything from you! Your lines, your riches, your land, and everything you love!
Cullen: Thank the Maker I'm not a thing then! ![]()
Big Bag: Ah, dung! Ok, I'll start ruining your castle then. You have five minutes to dress up and meet me on the battlefield! Schnell!!!
Cullen: Suddenly I had a very vivid flashback of my templar training.
Inquisitor: Cullen, weren't you going to confess that you love me?
Cullen: NO TIME FOR THIS NOW! Big Bad is ruining our castle!
Inquisitor: You just called my castle ours! Awwwww ![]()
Yeah, I wouldn't want to know too much. Ideally I'd like a couple of close up pics of his face and a quick blurb about his personality and the experiences he'd had in the previous two games. Something like:
"Cullen *insert Surname and/or title if he has one* has both seen and experienced more hardship over the past decade than most men his age. Once stationed in Ferelden he was one of the few surviving Templar's of the blood mage attack on Kinloch Hold where he was tortured for weeks/months until the Hero of Ferelden rescued him and put an end to the madness. Despite rumours and fabrications to the contrary, Cullen went on to spend the next 7+ years in Kirkwall serving under Knight Commander Meredith, eventually aiding the Champion of Kirkwall to slay her in combat... to this day the story surrounding Meredith's death is unclear, some say she went mad, other suggest Cullen and the Champion had sought to usurp her. Whatever the truth, Cullen refuses to talk about it. *Insert something small about his general personality, like his strength or will or whatever and a quick sentence about being the leader of his militant faction*"
Exactly ^THIS^
Absolutely perfect.
I know!!! I'm dying to know what's going on in his head in that moment. What pissed him off? And, I hope it's not me. Then again...

What's going on in his mind ?
That fur/feathers thing on his shoulders causes intense...itchings. He's allergic ya know. And it pisses him off a lot. He has a very fragile skin our man. That's why he misses his templar outfit so much.

I'm so excited though! It makes me wonder though, this person has to be so damn powerful and so damn smart to have managed this entire operation. Stirring up Orlais, using the Blight to weaken Ferelden. The whole mage-Templar fiasco. And now blowing the entire Veil straight to hell. Red lyrium, the Architect, Corypheus, etc. It's scary how well this entity's plans are coming together.I'll give them that, they've been pretty good at avoiding any major spoilers. Well, there we have it from the artist's mouth....er, I mean keyboard. Can't get more legit than that. ![]()

Yeah, if they don't come straight (ha!) about the romances, I'm thinking I'm gonna wait to buy the game until after Oct 7th; I'll spoil myself on the wiki then to see who's available, then go into it with a more open heart instead of possibly ending my first playthrough forever alone, which would just be depressing lol

Someone/something that's been pulling strings behind the scenes and planning this for a very long time, I would imagine!
The only small concern I have right now (just a tiny one), is cinematic conversation vs banter in game. ( I don't know how else I can explain this:S)
I liked the DA2 cinematic design. A lot of quests/storylines etc were told via cinematic conversation (with the exception of FedEX quests). Some people liked that, some people hated it. I liked it a lot. Now, with DA:I, I get the feeling the focus is more on "open world" and "exploring". I am a bit concerned that it will get in the way of the cinematic approach, meaning conversation etc will go via banter a lot less conversation than DA2. I hope I explained this well enough:S
Do you guys have any thoughts about that?
But who, damn it lol. Someone on Flemeth's level.Someone/something that's been pulling strings behind the scenes and planning this for a very long time, I would imagine!

I loved DA2's cinematic conversations, the moments just felt more real. I didn't like that I couldn't talk my companions the time I wanted but other time I think the moments felt more real, it felt like the conversations were more intimate and fitted more the place where they were.
But who, damn it lol. Someone on Flemeth's level.
Do you guys think its someone we already know about, or someone entirely new?

From what I understand, banter will still happen. It's a BioWare staple, and has been since the days of Baldur's Gate 2. Buuuut, cinematic dialogue is here to stay. I interpret that to mean that "ambient" banter will occur in game zones that don't have active combat going on (with the opportunity for the Inquisitor to participate, if desired), but DA2-style "base" dialogues with full cinematics, will only happen in designated locations. Kind of a "best of both worlds" scenario, if you ask me.
I agree. I liked both banter and cinematic cutscenes. I think it'll be just as balanced as in DA2. Granted, I think that there more banter due to the larger world, but I doubt it would eclipse the cinematic cutscenes. The only small concern I have right now (just a tiny one), is cinematic conversation vs banter in game. There will be alot of both banter and cinematic dialogue. And some of the banter is interactive, if you remember. Which is pretty cool.

I would imagine that the cinematic approach will be even better because they said that characters can actually move around whilst talking now, rather than standing static. Perhaps it'll make the scenes feel more organic and natural, despite being a cut scene?
I think it's someone we have yet to meet. Though, I would bet that some of the events we have experienced in DAO and DA2 are due to this enemy's direct involvement.Do you guys think its someone we already know about, or someone entirely new?

Companions will also move around instead of just standing behind the inquisitor awkwardly, which i think is awesome!
