That probably means I'll love them then. My friend just told me the Lannisters are meant to be the baddies and I'm like what?! So yeah, I'll probably love Celene and Briala if/when I read TME, which I do want to do, but only after I've played Inquisition.

Why wait? It's gonna make certain encounters and dialogue so much more meaningful if you go ahead and read.

I liked the Lannisters too, apart from Joffrey,But then again I consider GOT/ASOIAF  way too grey to have baddies...If you exclude the murdering sociopaths/psychopaths like the mountain etc.

I thought everyone was supposed to be shitty in GoT.

At any rate, I am glad there are no clear cut "good guy/s" as far as TME goes. It seems to be mostly up to one's personal interpretation. I am just hoping DAI gives me the same feeling of "you all kinda suck". DA2 was close, as I did start wishing for a "Let the Qunari take over" option in Act 2.

Racism aside, I just found I didn't like almost anyone by book's end. I felt those two ladies deserved each other.

Yeah, not going to touch that whole Dalish thing, but by the end of the book, any initial affection for those two was long since gone.

Briala is meant to be a sympathetic character.

It's just in case I find I absolutely hate a character, but get in game and find they are presented in a totally different light, but not be able to get past my first impression. From what I've heard, many ME characters were presented in very different lights in the different media than in the games, and I think there's a chance this may also happen in Inquisition. So basically, at this point, I think my first Inquisitor will want to support Celene, but if I read the book and loathe her, I would change my character with metaknowledge and stuff and I don't want that at all.

I've done it in the Walking Dead game, I'll avoid spoilers, but there was a character that I already knew and loved really and it affected how my Clementine interacted with them. And even though, she shouldn't trust them, I do so she did and will continue will, and I am determined to keep them alive at all costs because of something I know, but shouldn't.

I hardly found her sympathetic. She made some very bad choices, and she's gonna have to deal with the consequences in DAI,

I still think that sounds like a lot... and probably too many.

How would it be too many? Each of them has a very good reason to be involved in the Orlesian Civil War, and that IS a very large part of the game.

I do have a question. From what perspective is TME written? Is it first person? Third person? Does it alternate perspectives?

My Likes are gone, but I totally understand. If I'd read Stolen Throne before I'd played DA:O, my response to Loghain would've been a totally different thing. Of course... it probably would've been better in that case, for me, as I think my understanding of him in the game would have had more nuance instead of considering him a black-hat-wearing villain.

Third person omniscient, no fixed PoV characters. That's a lie. There are fixed PoV characters, but the perspective changes frequently.

Because  I think they'll be cautious how many auxiliary property characters they include given the potential backlash at the impression of "needing to buy more" of these other properties. And, you don't need to see the individual players to know there's a civil war going on. We never met any of the three in Asunder, for ex, and yet we knew there was a war.

No, I would say third person, switching perspective. Never omniscient. Each scene had its own character POV.

So like, (showing up how un-well read in novels, I hate novels, I am here) Harry Potter, if Chapter 2 followed Hermione more closely and Chapter 3, Ron rather than just Harry all the way through?

Yeah, I went back and edited my post after a moment's reflection.

I say that it's omniscient because we are often told what the characters are thinking and feeling. Maybe I've got my terminology mixed up. I'm afraid that my education was rather pathetic.

The third person point of view is a form of storytelling in which a narrator relates all action in third person, using third person pronouns such as "he" or "she." Third person point of view may be omniscient or limited.

Third person limited point of view is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows only the thoughts and feelings of a single character, while other characters are presented only externally. Third person limited grants a writer more freedom than first person, but less than third person omniscient.

Third person omniscient is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story, as opposed to third person limited, which adheres closely to one character's perspective.

Now... I thought it was third person limited, and switching person from scene to scene. But... it might've slipped into third  person omniscient sometimes, as berelinde said.

Which is why I've read as many spoilers as I could, so I have a more objective view of the characters and their actions, without knowing how they felt about the things they've done, what others do to them. Obviously there's some subjectivity there. I like schemers, so I think Celene's kinda cool and I really like the sound of Gaspard's play, and I also like the sound of Michel's honour even if I can't help but picture him as Michel from the Gilmore Girls. But I feel like it's not going to massively affect how I deal with them when I get in game.

Like! Yeah, my guess is that it intended to be third person limited... but it might've been more omniscient than that (by design or not...). :D

Oh it's fine, I have to write two essays on this sort of thing in about ten days time so I'm just counting this as revision for me. I'm so sneaky.

My Inquisitor's support will be Briala's to lose. I guess my knee-jerk dislike of ruthless nobles overpowers my knee-jerk dislike of ruthless rogues, and since we're not going to be Orlesian, concern for the stability of the nation won't come into it. I don't remember feeling like Briala was any more unrealistically invincible than any other character in a sci-fi or fantasy novel, though?

Any pictures of Cullen as he will appear in DAI other than the "last supper table" picture? I find he looks odd in that picture (sloping forhead and receding chin) and I am hoping his actual look will be better.

Every other character in the book has a moment of shame, a comeuppance.

Not yet, and while I, personally, don't have a problem with that pic, I assume that when we do see a great shot, like we've seen of Cassandra and Vivienne and the rest, we'll all be blown away by how gorgeous he is. :D
