So who is the suspected writer of Cullen in DAI?

 

We don't know. There's been speculation, but the maybe-evidence has pointed a couple of different directions with no clear suspect.

So who is the suspected writer of Cullen in DAI?

 

My guess is David Gaider himself. It goes back to that tweet where he says something to the effect of "Oh, so that's Cullen's last name!" While it may a total red herring, I going to say that he was given that information because he's the one who was going to write his dialog...which means that to all that is holy he's been forbidden to read or watch anything connected with Game of Thrones. That's the last sort of inspiration he needs.

So does this mean we're having a whole E3 DAI week?  That's way more stuff to swoon over than I imagined there would be.  I'm feeling very, very excited!  Firstly Redcliffe is pretty, Cullen is ridiculously pretty and everything is just gloriously pretty!!!!  So basically now I just want more pretty things and we have not very much time left to wait until we get them.     

 

PS - 33,000 rhinestones is a lot and takes more time than I have to glue them on - I've given up sleep in favour of caffeine, do not expect any sense from me at all for the foreseeable future.

How so? If you're implying that Cullen is unstable and ready to betray the Inquisitor if somebody looks at him funny, you wouldn't be the first, but the devs have said repeatedly that the epilogue slides should be considered rumors, not fact. After all, Leliana died in some people's playthroughs.

I can't really keep up with this thread but I usually check out the last couple pages when I can for fanart... mostly so I can send it to Cullen's Writer, a.k.a. He/She Who Must Not  Be Named a.k.a. I really hope that we'll get DAI info all week, though it'll be fine if we'll get only in Monday and tuesday . I guess they might reveal characters info on the site the following days.

Oh, I know. And it doesn't really apply to my save imports, since I only have 2 games out of about 20 where Leliana is actually dead. For the rest, I either left her in Lothering or parked her in camp and ignored her or sent her away once Zevran was recruited.

 

Unpopular opinions follow. Putting it behind spoiler tags because it isn't relevant to Cullen, but more importantly, I would rather make exposure to negativity a voluntary thing. Proceed at your own risk.

It's probably the worst-kept secret on the forums that I'm not a Leliana fan, but that sentence was mostly just sarcasm. The devs went out of their way to make sure that if Alistair was executed, he stayed dead, dead, dead, and that the player need never, ever see him again... but then they turned around and made Leliana immortal regardless of player decisions. What's worse, she will *always* take credit for helping to stop the Blight regardless of whether you left her in Lothering. It irritates me that some characters are golden children, protected from every kind of harm. And they keep showing up, again and again in everything with "Dragon Age" in the title, and nothing seems to eradicate them.

 

People are contrary creatures (or maybe it's just me). When allowed to form my own opinions, like a character or not, often despite a full inventory of flaws, faults, or character defects, loving the character is easy, at least for me. Nobody says "You must love me!" so I do, often with great passion. But when they're too perfect, when every negative aspect of their personality is lovingly pared away and the player isn't even given the option of being rude to them, I tend to push back. No, I won't love the character just because somebody says I must. I don't identify with them. I can't cheer for them if they are never in danger of losing. I can't love them despite their flaws (or because of them) if they haven't got any. A sunset without clouds is boring. Sweetness without acidity or bite is cloying.

 

I don't blame people for loving a character! Not even one I don't like. But I can't support the decision to favor some characters so blatantly, nor can I support the decision to continue to bombard a player with exposure to them regardless of the player's decision to be rid of them. If you're going to go that far, bring back Alistair... or Anders.

They aren't saying. Sheryl Chee wrote a post about it, but in essence, it has to do with player expectation and preconceptions. When the writer is announced, people make assumptions about what the character will be like based on the writer's previous work. It's a natural thing to do, but it isn't really fair. Writers don't always write the same thing, but also, writers evolve, just as opinions do.

 

And I totally understand that attitude. If you take any writer at BioWare, they will have written characters I absolutely love... and possible one or two I dislike. The writer is the same, but the characters are different.
